Sean Bell Trial Begins In Queens Today
February 25th, 2008Three N.Y. cops are charged with killing an unarmed Black man on his wedding day
The trial kicks off today for three New York City Police officers who shot to death 23-year-old Sean Bell, the African-American who died in a blizzard of bullets outside a Queens strip club just hours before he was to be married. Bell was unarmed on Nov. 25, 2005, when five plainclothes detectives fired 50 bullets at him and two friends, Trent Benefield, 24, and Joseph Guzman, 32, who were wounded but have recovered. On trial, which is being held in the state Supreme Court in Kew Gardens, are detectives Michael Oliver, 36; Gescard Isnora, 29; and Marc Cooper, 40, who must convince a judge that they believed someone in Bell’s car was armed and also that they were in danger of being rammed by Bell’s Nissan Altima. Oliver and Isnora are facing the most serious charges – first- and second-degree manslaughter – with a potential 25-year sentence. The officers’ fate will be decided by Queens State Supreme Court Judge Arthur Cooperman; they opted for a judge rather than jury, believing that they could not get an unbiased jury of their peers in the borough where the shooting occurred. “We are looking for the judge to do justice,” said attorney Sanford Rubenstein, who along with Michael Hardy is representing Bell’s family and the other two victims. Bell’s fiancée, Nicole Paultre Bell, who legally took his name following his death, is expected to be the leadoff witness. Do you expect justice in the Sean Bell case?

THEN MAYBE THE UNITED SNAKES GOVERNMENT WILL TAKE NOTICE, & ADDRESS POLICE BRUTALITY IN RACIST AMERIKKKA!!!

No I do not expect justice. Usually when police are involved they “claim in the line of duty.”

My prayers go out to the victims as well as the officers families. This will be a very painful thing to have to bear. Will justice be served? I sincerly hope so. How can it be explained to unleash 50 gun shots at individuals in a car, where no weapon was found. So where was the threat? I could see 6-8 shots maybe, but not 50. We need to let God be the ultimate judge…and HE will be the judge.

1st and foremost, my highest condolences to the Bell family.
I’m no saint..but the sooner we stop looking at everything in black and white, the better we’ll see things as good and evil.
Haven’t we seen these hate crimes for years now, from campus and mall shootings to back alley beatings and slavery. Not only were the 2 of 3 cops involved of manslaughtering black and hispanic, they also have african-american lawyers representing them.
This case has nothing to do with race, just pure whole-hearted hatred. We’ve been pointing the finger at the white man for so long..we forgot who truly “possess” these people to act like this..SATAN.
I’m no preacher but YES, Jesus was a victim of a hate crime when he was crucified, Dr. King was a victim of a hate crime, John F. Kennedy was a victim of hate crime, Tupac and Biggie were victims of a hate crime. The list goes on and on. The sad part is majority of the individuals we lose on a daily bases INCLUDING Sean Bell, was a victim from someone of their own race and creed.
My religious people feel me..that is if you believe in God like I do. It isn’t about race, but the battle that’s been going on with the world since God created it, GOOD vs EVIL.
Sean Bell and his friends did nothing wrong, but good, so evil individuals come along and decide to take their lives.

50 bullets fired by 5 plain-clothed officers on 3 unarmed guys. There is no excuse, no way to explain why or how 5 “professionally trained” officers can make such a huge mistake. They intended to kill those guys in the name of FEAR {“I was afraid for my life”}— BS. I hope justice is served but let’s be real, they will probably be acquitted as usual.
Mrs. Bell, please file a civil suit against those officers and the NYPD. Hit’em where it hurts!— In the pockets. The least they can do is pay you for the heartache and pain.
All i wanted to say is Rest in peace Sean Bell. To all of his family members keep ya head up and just know your precious angel Sean flys high above you all each day watching over you. Stay strong in court.
