Sean Bell’s Family Still Demanding Justice

November 20th, 2008

Sean Bell’s family is still demanding justice. Two years undercover cops shot to death 23-year-old Sean Bell outside of a Queens, N.Y., nightclub on his wedding day eve, members of his family finally met with federal prosecutors. Bell died when cops fired on the unarmed groom and two friends in a haze of 50 bullets. The officers who fired on the three men were acquitted of criminal charges. “Justice was never served in this case,” family attorney Michael Hardy told Newsday. “We still want justice for Sean.” The family has been pressing the U.S. Justice Department to bring civil rights charges against the officers. Following their meeting with federal prosecutors on Tuesday, the family now believes that it is possible.  In a statement, the Rev. Al Sharpton said he believes today’s meeting is “a sign that the federal government has begun to seriously look into the egregious denial of the civil rights of Sean Bell, Joseph Guzman and Trent Benefield.” Bell’s family felt the same way. Bell’s family. “Sean had a life ahead of him,” fiancée Nicole Paultre Bell told reporters. “This has given us hope.”

I’m glad that they are pressing forward and pushing to make things happen. I would do the same thing if my husband was shot especially for no reason. I just dont understand how they weren’t convicted the first time. 50 shot? They were unarmed? I just don’ t understand how could you explain that story..But I hope they get some time so the niggas in jail can beat they ass good cuz that’s what they need after some mess like that.

To the family: I am sorry for your loss this was such a sad case. But please do not give up, continue to fight for the rights of your loved one until justice has been served. And to other famailies that are traveling down this same road of police injustice, don’t give up because GOD has got your back and all of you will one day get the justice that you all so rightly deserve. GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU

its a pity that the same rucus that blacks caused over the sean bell killing wasnt duplicated over the JENNIFER HUDSON MURDERS.. instead there was this SILENCE .. where there should have been marching and protesting against the black on black murders , there was a lot of bible quoting and hand wringing.. but NOBODY IS TALKING … NOBODY.. where was jessie, where was sharpton.. and were was farrakhan… they ALL COMPLAIN about the way police treat blacks but say NOTHING ABOUT THE WAY BLACKS KILL BLACKS…
its all a wall of silence , and blinding hypocracy…

ITS THE WAY BLACKS SCREAM ABOUT WHITES CALLING THEM THE N WORD BUT THINK ITS COOL TO CALL THEMSELVES AND ALL BLACKS THAT..

thats called double standard.. its where CREDIBILITY MEETS CULPABILITY AND MISSES EACH OTHER BY A MILE..

Please keep pushing..if you let it die, they will too. I hope you get the justice you deserve. Nothng will ever replace the life that was lost but someone needs to feel it somewhere. God bless you Mrs. Bell (because that is what you are) and your two children.

Oh and to the man above me…..olounwa….please hush. These are two totally different cases. There was no wrongdoing by law enforcement with the Jennifer Hudson case. There was no need to protest. Blacks killing blacks is an epidemic no matter how it happened but don’t compare the two because it’s not the same. The Hudson family WANTED privacy during their time of bereavement. So did the Bell family but as a community and as a race, we all banned together to try to stop police violence. So please think about the comments before you make them. Let’s just pray that they get the justice they so much deserve.

i live in queens and when this tragedy occured, i felt your family’s pain. Queens will never be the same because of it, i felt as if we all pulled together in time of need. Do not allow them to let it go away… and believe that justice will be served. God Bless your Family

My prayers go out to the family and yes keep pushing for justice because if the table were turned, it would of been long done and over with. I haven’t read over the details, but I do know that in order to take someone down or stop them, you don’t have to shoot to kill. SAD, SAD, SAD that he loss his life and future, not to mention the grieving Fiance’. Keep your head up and stay focused because the Lord gives us nothing that we can’t handle.
God Bless!!!

Hello, Bell family. Bless you. I know what it is to be denied closure behind wrongful death by a criminal system of justice. That is what we have in America, but maybe that will CHANGE. Gonzales and Chaney were caught being Prison Profiteers and were indicted by a Texas grand jury. Although they won’t go to prison, I am sure, at least Gonzales is exposed. The article states you press the USDOJ to bring civil rights charges. Good luck. Read my article on that unrighteous bunch of hypocrits in that agency at NowPublic.com – by Mary Neal —

This comes from one who knows your loss and is also denied accountability for the wrongful death of a loved one. There are many like us. Eventually, justice will come, if not here, then God prepared places for all His children, and one of them is full of HOT LAVA. I am glad about that.

Be blessed. It will be alright in the morning.
