Too bad!!!! I seen her profile on http://www.RichMingle.com.
Sorry to hear that. just saw her husband’s personals ID on milllionaires personals site “”"”"MillMatch. co m”"”"”" last week. I am wondering what kind of relationship he is looking for on that site.
A national treasure. She sung of the hurt and suffering of countless others. She expressed their pain. She had such tremendous talent and she is one of us. Many African Americans, or Asiatics more properly, did not know who she was. Her voice was strong and her commitment complete. She was truly a special and wonderful gift to humanity. She will be a part of us forever for she is one of us. Sail on SIs. Odetta, sail on!
I saw her singing clip on “Lightening in a Bottle”. in particular, the 2nd scene when she injected her opinion when Ruth Brown was singing. She is a treasure, just like Miram Makeba. May God bless her soul – what an asset to music history, what a loss. too much.
I wish she was my grand mom !my old a** white granny has skin rashes all over her . I wish she was black.
that’s so sad,may she sing for lord!rest in peace.
Where the journey to freedom begins!!!

RIP Odetta. Thank you for all the contributions and sacrafices you made so my generation could succeed in life.
Odetta Holmes will surely be missed by her family and most of all her fans from the 60’s. I was one of those fan who appreciate her service and her R&B style of music. I remember I was in my teen age when my uncle played in her backup group, she was funny and when she spoke to my friends and I she made such impression with her words of wisdom that has been treasured in my heart over the years. What I received from Mrs, Holmes I in still in my children. She would have been proud of my children. I will miss her so much and I pray for her family and her fans. I love you Mrs, Odetta.
