Spanking Causes More Harm, Says Study

“Popping” little Tommy on the hand as an infant or toddler could lead to long-term aggression and learning difficulties during their development, according to a study performed by Center for Child and Family Policy at Duke University.
According to a story written about the report on CNN.com, the lead researcher for the project theorizes that infants and toddlers “just don’t understand enough about right or wrong or punishment to benefit from being spanked.”
The report states children who are spanked as one-year-olds tend to show more anger and aggression at age two and are behind in “thinking skills” at age three.
The report suggest there is a socioeconomic component to spanking.
Researchers claim African-American children are spanked “significantly more frequently than those from white and Mexican-American families.” Parents who also live in the south and/or identify as Conservative Christians also spank their children at a higher rate.
Poor people and single mothers are also more prone to spank, said researchers.

i read these studies all the time and everyone is against spanking but no one give any advice to parents when these children get out of hand . the
bible also says spare the rod spoil the child. we a have society of young
people who have no respect of no one ,not even themselves. we do need to descipline these children and if we don’t this country will be a mess. these same people that do these studies need to do studies on what are the effects of descipline. we all know the effects of descipline and we all
know the effects of no descipline just go anywhere in public and sit you will
see it. children now days disrupt church services and they also act up in
resturants with no recourse. parents are being controll by their children
we need to do studies on this. things that were done in the sixties by lawmakers who have gone on to glory has affected this country in the worst
way. prayer and descipline was the main reason things are the way it is
today. we need to get back to praying and we need to get to learning how to
descipline our children. we may not spank them but they do need to be
decipline. i never had to spank but their was some type of descipline in my house for sure. by the way i am a single parent. i think some of this is done
on preconception of people also, look at the demograpics of some of these studies.
KNOWING HOW TO USE TO USE YOUR WORDS IN A WAY THAT MAKES A CHILD WANT TO LEARN AND LISTEN TO YOU IS THE BEST WAY TO TEACH CHILDREN AND ADULTS.

This is another thing that makes me ashamed to be black. You should see black kids in comparison to errbody else. They be the worst. Unfortunately us blacks cant even keep a family together let alone teach our kids right. And we blame everyone else of being racist when they say we is dumb. When they just be saying the truth.

Most blacks that I know aren’t dumb. I’m from a country where you can still spank children & the children that are the worst are the ones who haven’t been spanked. I say spank them now so you don’t have to bail them out later! Oh & white children are the worst. Those are the kids killing their parents & shooting up schools. Look at the Nanny show on ABC network. Those children need a belt so bad it isn’t funny. Amazing how whites kept blacks in slavery for 400 years but now they can’t even control little Tommy. SMH.
this so called “study” is the prime reason why kids are being hauled off to juvenile dentention because parents don’t discipline them. I keep hearing about kids stealing from one another and bullying their peers. Lack of discipline will cause a child to engage in criminal activity.
Blacks lack conflict resolution skills due to their low level of intelligence. They are also violent and impulsive. That’s wy so many are in jail for violent crime.
