Sports: Cowboys’ Owner Explains T.O.’s Firing
March 6th, 2009Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Thursday that getting rid of Terrell Owens was necessary to save his team. “In the aftermath of the season, we talked about change,” Jones said in a statement. “Some of what is changing involves the process and some of it involves people. This is a decision that was made based upon consideration for an entire team. We will move on now with a new team – a new attitude – and into a new stadium. The evaluation process and the prospect for change will continue at every level of the organization.” Even though there have been rumblings about waiving Owens for some time, the outspoken, controversial wideout told teammate and fellow wide receiver Sam Hurd that he was “more shocked than angry” when he heard of Jones’ decision. “He didn’t give me an explanation. He just said, ‘Wow,’” Hurd said Thursday. “I really didn’t believe that he seen that coming. … He said it’s tough, but it’s a business.” Few receivers have more catches, yards and touchdowns than Owens. His 38 touchdowns over the past three years are tops. But in the end, it was the dissention that he generated among his teammates at each of his three NFL squads that was his undoing.
T.O. IS LIKE A SPOILED KID WHO WANTS THE LAST SLICE OF CAKE!! IF HE DON’T GET IT THE REST OF KIDS IN THE HOUSE HOLD WILL NOT GET TO WATCH THE NEXT FEW HOURS OF T.V. IN PEACE BEFORE THEY GO TO SLEEP.

To T.O. , Your mouth is to blame. African-American such as I fought for years to get the talent of our black athletes recognized. You have embarrased me with your vocal conduct. As my late grandfather use to say “when your hands in the Lion’s mouth, be still”. Nuf said.
One day T.O. will learn that it’s OK to speak up, but sometimes have to shut up for the good of the team.

Here is a perfect example of someone who didn’t know when to shut his mouth. I guess your performance on the field did not out-weigh your big-mouth and your attitude off the field. It’s too bad that you had to learn such an elementary lesson in this stage of your life; Always remember, it may take a strong man to speak up for what he believes in, but it takes a SMART man to know when to shut up!! You just talked yourself right out of a job. And the bad part is YOU GOT FIRED ON YOUR DAY OFF!!!!!

I just wanna know when the coaching changes are coming! There are some great coaches out there right now like Herm Edwards, Bill Cowher, Mike Shanahan, Romeo Crennel & others. Wade Phillips needs 2 be the defensive coordinator & Jason Garrett needs 2 go somewhere else. While we’re at it Jerry Jones needs to sell the team to someone who will let the coaches coach & stay off the field! I love my team but Jerry has NO clue!
