Magic Johnson confronted at book signing.  Basketball legend and entrepreneur Magic Johnson isn’t responsible for New York workers’ challenges in finding affordable  health care, a spokesman says. A man reportedly confronted Johnson at a recent book signing to complain that his fellow non-union employees at a condominium project handled by Johnson’s investment firm have to pay extra cash for family coverage.  But Johnson pays the 12 non-union workers the union rate for their involvement in the project, Magic’s rep tells Crain’s New York business publication. Decisions about expanded health coverage are up to the condo association, the spokesman says.

Trade from Boston secures switch-hitter. Coco Crisp is a member of the Kansas City Royals after he was traded from Boston for Ramon Ramirez. Crisp expects to earn $5.75 million next season in a deal with an $8 million club option for 2010. Crisp stole 20 bases out of 27 attempts last season. He’s stolen no less than 20 bases in the last three seasons. “I’ve talked many times about the importance of a balanced lineup,” says Royals boss Dayton Moore, “speed at the top and the bottom, and Coco certainly gives us that.”
