Sports: Stephon Marbury is Suspended
November 29th, 2008
The New York Knicks says it needed Stephon Marbury to play and he said “no.” Because of that, the franchise says it is docking the point guard’s salary by nearly $400,000 and suspending him. Marbury denies the charge and says he will appeal but his tenure with the Knicks might be gets to officially challenges his employer’s decision. The New York Post reports Knicks president Donnie Walsh and players’ association lawyer Hal Biagas are set to meet Monday to try and reach a buyout agreement.Of course I want something resolved,” Marbury told the paper. “I want to go forward.” The Knicks has not given the details of the conversation that took place before Wednesday’s loss in Detroit but says Marbury was asked to play because the Knicks were short-handed.”I don’t want to get into it, guys. I think I already told you, I asked him to play. We just asked. You’re a coach, and we needed him to play,” says Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni said after practice Friday. Marbury will not be paid when he sits out Saturday’s home game against Golden State and will lose an additional game’s pay for Wednesday’s actions. He earns about $21 million in salary this year, drawing about $190,000 a game.

I truly hope and pray that The Lakers pick up Marbury. The Lakers are already an awesome team and having Marbury on the team would really make them unstopable. The Knicks think they are punishing him but they are only hurting their team because regardless they have to pay him so why not let him play when everyone from the outside seeing in can notice how much the Knicks need him to play. I’m rooting for you Marbury, keep your head up.

Stephon Marbury is an overpaid Million Dollar Crybaby, At one point in everybody’s life they had to do a job they didn’t want to. That bum makes 21.7 million dollars and told the Knicks, if they buy him out, he wants the full 21.7 million dollars. He is being an insurbordinate, if he were working a 9-5 job he would have gotten fired. He is making more money then Tim Duncan, Lebron James and Kobe Bryant, these players took their teams to the NBA Finals, He didn’t get a team out of the first round. I am glad they suspended him, The Knicks need to fire him without paying him, selfish crybaby.
Point blank — most athletes are just spoiled little boys. Marbury hasn’t produced the way the Knicks though he would. There he sits all smug and raking in the bottom line — his paycheck. I think New York will have a hard time unloading him — unless one of the the teams on the bottom rung have the salary to pick him up. If not, he’ll be sitting on the Knicks bench while his stock goes down. I have no sympathy for him. He wasn’t productive before Mike D’Antoni and upon arrival D’Antoni put Marbury in his place and pretty much told him they wasn’t going to put up with his non-producing behind. Yeah, he endorsed sneakers that low income people would be able to purchase — that’s a good thing; however, God allowed him to be in this position for not only the good of he and his family but for the GREATER GOOD! Unfortunately, some athletes haven’t reached that plan.
