Sports: Tyson Gay Can’t Qualify For Multiple Beijing Races; Randy Moss Buys Motorsports Stock; Felix Is Returning To Olympics 200 Meter
July 7th, 2008Tyson Gay can’t qualify for multiple Beijing races
The man who set a U.S. record for the 100-meter race last week will only qualify for one Olympics sprint contest after injuring his hamstring. Tyson Gay had to be carried off the track this past weekend after a severe hamstring cramp dropped him in the middle of what may have been his second qualifying contest. “There is no apparent damage otherwise, except for some road rash from the fall,” Gay’s manager Mark Wetmore says. “He said he felt a little tightness before the race.” Though his place competing in the 100 at Beijing is secure, it will be his only chance at earning a medal since he wasn’t among the top three finishers in the other race.
Randy Moss buys Motorsports stock
New England All-Pro receiver Randy Moss has purchased 50 percent of Morgan-Dollar Motorsports. The NASCAR truck series team has no sponsorship this season. Moss isn’t saying how much he paid for his stock in Morgan-Dollar, but it reportedly costs about $6 million a season to run a successful truck program. “Yeah, I am prepared. I’ll leave it at that,” he says. “I have been in the league 11 years, so I think I’m good (financially). I am not really saying that I am 100 percent certain that it’s going to work, but at the same time, you’ve got to think positive. I think if you go out there and think in a negative light, bad things will happen.” Moss was set to attend his first NASCAR event this past weekend.
Felix is returning to Olympics in 200
After failing to qualifying in the 100 meters, Allyson Felix won the 200 meters and is headed to Beijing to compete for the United States. How close was the finish for third place? More at Playa Hater.
