Former President Bill Clinton, who was blasted by Black leaders for his campaign tactics during his wife’s run against Barack Obama, is back to the kind of talk that made him a star in the Black community. On Saturday, during Major League Baseball’s Beacon Awards Luncheon in Cincinnati, Clinton said that racial equality in America is still a long way off – despite the election of Obama as president. Read more.

Former President Bill Clinton, continuing his longstanding role as an advocate to Haiti, will now serve as the special envoy to the tiny impoverished island nation. The official announcement is expected today, United Nations insider said Monday. Clinton has traveled repeatedly to Haiti, most recently two months ago with wife/Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Ban Ki Moon, the general-secretary of U.N. Haiti may be the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere, but after years of bloody revolution and political strife, there is relative governmental stability and slight economic growth. Arizona,” Harrison points out.

President-elect Barack Obama pulled together the four living U.S. presidents Wednesday to pose for a photograph that is sure to be classic. “I just want to thank the president for hosting us,” the president-elect said. “All the gentlemen here understand both the pressures and possibilities of this office,” Obama said. “For me to have the opportunity to get advice, good counsel and fellowship with these individuals is extraordinary.” But while President George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George H. Bush and Jimmy Carter came together in the Oval Office for the historic picture, it is unlikely that any of the former commanders in chief could possibly prepare Obama for the daunting task that lies ahead. That’s because Obama is facing a bigger challenge than any incoming president in recent memory: The nation is mired in recession; is still engaged in two wars; and is battling record unemployment. In addition, he takes over following eight years of divisive inter-party politics and the ever-present reality of lingering racial strife. The good news, though, is that his predecessors seemed more than willing to stand by his side through the tough times. “One message that I have and I think we all share is that we want you to succeed. Whether we’re Democrat or Republican we care deeply about this country,” George W. Bush said. “All of us who have served in this office understand that the office itself transcends the individual. We wish you all the very best, and so does the country.”

Blogger Paul Slansky’s had harsh words for President Bill Clinton. Read his words below:

Given that we would never have had the odious George W. Bush in the White House in the first place if it wasn’t for your blow jobs, Bill, it seems obvious that you owe it to the people of this country, and especially to the parents whose kids died in the Iraq War that Gore would never have started, and to all the parents whose kids would be killed in the WarFest that would be a McCain/Palin — sorry, Palin/McCain — administration to do everything in your power to get Barack Obama elected. But that’s not what you’re doing, Bill, and it’s not going unnoticed. We see your rage, Bill, it’s too huge to hide. We see that — as Chris Rock so brilliantly pointed out — it pains you to even speak Obama’s name. We see you petulantly rooting against him even as you go through the motions of doing the barest minimum on his behalf to avoid being blamed if he loses. You’re not fooling anyone, Bill. You’ve gotten so caught up in yesterday that you’ve stopped thinking about tomorrow. You have the power to influence millions of voters and you’re spitefully sitting on it. Get the rest of the note here. Do you think he has a point about Clinton?
