Bobby Brown Expecting Another Child
Bobby Brown and his manager-girlfriend Alicia Etheridge are expecting their first child together, PEOPLE.com reports. “I’m really excited about my new addition to my family,” says Brown. His attorney, Phaedra Parks, said, “We’re excited because he’s in a good place – he’s sober and he’s very happy, and I’m happy for Alicia and Bobby as well.” Brown also has a 15-year-old daughter with ex-wife Whitney Houston, two children with ex-girlfriend Kim Ward and a son with ex-girlfriend Melika Williams. This will be Etheridge’s first child, according to PEOPLE.
Professor Griff at Oakland University
The outspoken former head of rap group Public Enemy’s military squad will talk with students at Oakland University today. Professor Griff, who has become a frequent college lecturer, will appear on the Southeast Michigan campus to discuss current and political affairs in the Black community. Griff became known as head of Public Enemy’s S1W security force and later recorded as a solo artist. A spoken-word poet, Professor Griff has recorded acclaimed CDs that promote social consciousness, including material released under 2 Live Crew leader Luther Campbell’s former record label.

Oprah falls off the weight control program. Oprah Winfrey has opened up about her recent weight gain. She admits to being embarrassed by her weight gain in an eight-page spread in the January issue of her O magazine, which has a coverline that reads: “How Did I Let This Happen Again?” Winfrey writes about how and why she has gained 40 pounds in four years, now reaching 200 pounds. “I’m mad at myself. I’m embarrassed,” she wrote in the article. “I didn’t just fall off the wagon. I let the wagon fall on me.” Of the causes of her weight gain, the media mogul says, “This past year, I took myself off of my own priority list. I wasn’t just low on the list; I wasn’t even on the list.” Oprah has thyroid conditions that also slowed her metabolism. After missing meditation, workouts and eating junk food, the weight piled on, she recently told the press. Winfrey was reportedly so upset by her weight gain that she didn’t allow any full-body covers of herself, only headshots. Winfrey will talk more about her plans to take better care of herself when her O story launches a weeklong series on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” beginning Jan. 5. “Oprah’s Best Life Week” will give viewers thorough advice on health, spirit, money and relationships to guide them through the new year.

Bobby Brown’s book will be released today. The Bobby Brown autobiography, “Bobby Brown: The Truth, The Whole Truth and Nothing But …,” is to be released today, reports EUR Web. Despite months of delay, the book that was to be collaboration between then-friends, author Derrick Handspike and Brown, is apparently hitting bookstores despite disagreements between the authors. The Web site reports that the book released today by Down South Books is being called an “unauthorized autobiography.” In the book, Brown, 40, apparently dishes about his marriage to singer Whitney Houston and their troubles and explores other relationships.

Bobby Brown, Whitney Houston aren’t reuniting. Fans hoping to view more of the train-wreck-like drama that was Bobby Brown’s marriage to Whitney Houston won’t get their wish. Despite photos recently showing the divorced pair at a romantic dinner together in Georgia, they’ll reportedly remain apart. A spokesperson for Houston says the pair remains “good friends whose primary interest is the well-being of their daughter.” Houston and Brown divorced after 15 years in 2007.
Wyclef’s Miami Beach crib is up for auction. Rapper, singer and producer Wyclef is the latest high-profile celebrity to suffer from America’s home foreclosure epidemic. The Grammy-winner’s Miami Beach spot is due to be auctioned in a Florida court after ‘Clef reportedly borrowed $2 million from Home Equity Mortgage Corp. A series of construction liens were filed against the company the performer co-owns, leading to the burden and eventual bank action.
