Widower Rejects Settlement Offer From R&B Singer

February 21st, 2009

His lawyers have quit on him, but the man whose wife died in a freeway crash after singer Brandy rear-ended a vehicle wants big money. Even though Brandy wasn’t charged with any wrongdoing in the Los Angeles-area accident, she was reportedly willing to pay $200,000 of a $1.2 million settlement offer made by her insurance company. Marouane Hdidou apparently hopes to get more from the platinum-selling artist and former “Moesha” star: When he rejected the offer, his attorneys withdrew from the case. Hdidou’s wife was found to have been driving with marijuana in her system, authorities say. Investigators decided that Brandy wasn’t at fault in the 2007 accident after a year of examining evidence.

Brandy Gets Sued Again Over Deadly Accident

December 18th, 2008

Brandy

Brandy gets sued again over deadly accident. Singer Brandy’s nightmare regarding a deadly car crash two years ago is far from over. Although a lawsuit filed by a family member of Awatef Aboudihaj, the married mother of two who was killed in the accident, was dismissed, Brandy is looking at a new round of civil charges. Donald Lite, who was injured in the 2006 multiple-auto collision, is suing Brandy, claiming that her alleged disregard for the rules of the road is the reason he suffers from extreme physical damage, according to TMZ.com. He says he has “serious and permanent injuries.” The lawsuit, filed last week in L.A. County Superior Court, alleges that Brandy’s failure to keep a safe distance, coupled with her alleged speeding, caused the actress to slam into the rear-end of Awatef’s vehicle, knocking Awatef’s car into his vehicle. Lite is suing for an undetermined amount.

Music: Brandy Comes Clean About Fake Marriage; Wu-Tang Launches New Fila Boot

November 22nd, 2008

Brandy

Brandy comes clean about fake marriage. Brandy’s conscious may have gotten the best of her. The R&B singer confessed to “Us” magazine that she lied about her 2001 marriage to music producer Robert Smith.  She said it was all part of campaign to protect her reputation as a perfect role model. Brandy said she lied because she feared fans would turn on her if she was an unwed mother.

Wu-Tang launches new Fila boot. The Wu-Tang Clan exploded onto the scene in the 1990s, delivering a sound unlike any other. Now, these hip-hop pioneers have collaborated with FILA for some new footwear – the Wu-Tang Weathertech boot.  The footgear, which is the group’s second collaboration with Fila, is based on the classic Fila boot style. The rap group hopes to have the boots in stores in time for Christmas.

Entertainment: Usher’s Mom Named in Police Claim; Ex-Label Head is Serious About Ear Attire; Tyrese Says He, Brandy Are Like Siblings

November 20th, 2008

Usher’s mom named in police claim. A driver who formerly freelanced for the mom of singer Usher at her transportation company says she never paid him. Georgia detectives are reportedly checking into the matter that allegedly took place during an October BET awards show. The driver claims Jonetta Patton didn’t cut the $1,668 check he’d earned. But a spokesperson for Patton’s company says the allegation is groundless: “The drivers were hired as independent contractors and are paid 30 to 45 days net when working on special events of the magnitude of the BET Hip Hop Awards that took place on Oct. 18. They were hired…and are disgruntled that their services are no longer being used by the company as a result of the unprofessional nature of the fired employee.”

Suge Knight

Ex-label head is serious about his ear attire. If you were wondering what to buy former Death Row Records boss Suge Knight for Christmas, wonder no more. Barely a week after word of the burly ex-football player’s lawsuit against rapper Kanye West after Knight lost an earring at West’s 2005 party, he’s got another beef: Cali cops who had him in custody in 2005 allegedly let his diamond stud out of their sight. Knight claims in his U.S. Bankruptcy case, which led to Death Row’s slip from his control, that the cops are responsible. He’s hoping a court will award him $135,000 over the bling he lost at Kanye’s gig, where he was shot in the leg. Apparently, it’s less than gangsta to walk around with bare lobes.

Tyrese says he and Brandy are like siblings. Despite being spotted publicly with the recently reclusive star, actor Tyrese Gibson says he and singer Brandy are just pals. “Brandy and I have been the best of friends since we were 14 years old,” Gibson tells Usmagazine.com. “I would never date her. It would be like dating my sister.” Brandy, who only recently emerged from a low profile after her involvement in a fatal car wreck, reportedly says she hasn’t dated in three years. Police found that she was not at fault for the accident.

Entertainment: Brandy Confirmed for “America’s Thanksgiving Parade”; “24’s” David Palmer Voted Top Commander in Chief

October 23rd, 2008

Brandy

Brandy confirmed for “America’s Thanksgiving Parade.”

She lost her judging spot  on the popular new show “America’s Got Talent” and her career suffered after her involvement in a fatal car wreck. It was many months after a woman’s death on an L.A. freeway that the victim’s blood showed drug use evidence, and that Brandy was cleared of causing the accident. Now the singer will appear in next month’s “America’s Thanksgiving Parade” in Detroit, one of her most high-profile events this year. The singer’s new CD Human will be released two weeks later in December.

Dennis Haysbert

“24’s” David Palmer voted top commander in chief.

For those who may have forgotten, the nation has already seen a Black president – in the form of David Palmer, Jack Bauer’s road dog on the hit show “24.” Dennis Haysbert, who played Palmer until the character was assassinated, won 17 percent of votes for “Favorite On-Screen President” in a recent Blockbuster poll. Haysbert beat out Harrison Ford, who played President James Marshall in the movie Air Force One, Bill Pullman, who played President Thomas J. Whitmore in Will Smith’s Independence Day, and Martin Sheen, who played President Josiah Bartlet in the “West Wing,” among others presidential characters.

Entertainment News: Brandy’s Mom Wants $120,000 From Kardashian Clan; 50 Cent Fights For Visitation, Communication With Son

June 23rd, 2008

Sonja Norwood wants $120,000 from Kardashian clan
Brandy

Manager and mom of singer Brandy has been given a February court date in her suit against her son Ray J’s sex tape co-star. Kim Kardashian and three of her siblings allegedly made $120,000 in unauthorized credit card purchases in 2006 and 2007 when Kardashian worked as a stylist for Brandy and Ray J. Norwood wants every dime of the cash reimbursed, plus 10 percent interest. So it would seem that Kardashian’s appearance in the “leaked” sex video with R&B’s biggest annoyance was on the house.

Rapper sues child’s mom for defamation
50 Cent

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson wants two things: to see his son without interference and to shut up the boy’s mom. The rapper has sued Shaniqua Tompkins for allegedly violating their custody agreement for Marquise Jackson. Fiddy alleges in the suit that Tompkins has prevented him from speaking with the boy and “made it practically impossible” for him to communicate or spend time with Marquise. Fiddy has also sued Tompkins in Suffolk County Court for defamation of character, seeking an end to Tompkins’ claims that he’s responsible for burning her house down recently. “Besides hurting his reputation, the rumors have had a damaging impact on their son,” says a legal rep for the rapper. “There comes a point where you can no longer sit on your hands and listen to her spread these falsehoods.”
