Rock legend Jimi Hendrix will be saluted in a five-week tour by artists including Mato Ninji from Indigenous, Chris Layton from Double Trouble and Brad Whitford from Aerosmith. Widely acclaimed as the greatest rock guitarist ever, Hendrix has been remembered in numerous tributes since his 1970s death, including a biopic starring Wood Harris. Scheduled tour stops include Detroit’s Fox Theatre in October, where some of Hendrix’s favorite stars once performed during the Motown era.

T.I., Estelle, Cassie among celebs endorsing tribute shoe. Adidas will launch a limited-edition shoe line next week in recognition of Vibe magazine’s 15^th anniversary. Performers including Cassie, T.I., Estelle, Pepa and Musiq Soulchild have signed the Forum Mid XVibe, which retails for $125, pairs of which are available through a Vibe.com charity auction until Sept. 25. Only 1,500 pairs of the Mid Xvibe will be sold in select nationwide markets.

Singer Cassie apparently couldn’t wait to ruin the fun of gossipers and Web sites: She has come forth denying widespread rumors of a forthcoming wedding to her boss and record label’s founder Sean “Diddy” Combs. Cassie recently blogged on the Web that engagement rumors about her are “completedly false.” “I have no clue how it came to be or why it got so big, but it’s not true, real talk,” she adds. “I am not engaged. Whether or not you’ve heard about it, thank you for your time.”

TMZ catches former Death Row exec haunting Hollywood
Former Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight has made a rare appearance in high-profile Hollywood since he was knocked unconscious by an L.A. barber after a beef. Knight, who was once one of the most feared and successful execs in the rap industry, showed up this past weekend at the Ivy, one of suburban Cali’s top nightspots. Suge even stayed for over an hour after the Ivy shut down, according to TMZ.com. No comment from the ex-bodyguard and ex-con about how a single punch from a man half his size leveled his 300-pound frame.

The one-time nightclub bouncer-turned-pro wrestler and “A-Team” action series star is too manly for British TV. Mr. T’s new commercial promoting the Snickers candy bar has been pulled after it reportedly offended gays in the U.K. In the advertisement, T shoots Snickers bars at a speed walker, while yelling: “You are a disgrace to the man race. It’s time to run like a real man.” A leading gay rights group calls the “Get Some Nuts” ad homophobic. T pities the fool who says he discriminates.

Oscar-winning actress says paps went onto her property

Academy Award-winner Halle Berry ’s lawyer has filed a criminal complaint against California photographers who allegedly sneaked onto her property and took photos of the star holding her newborn in a garden. Berry reportedly was enraged when she saw the shots in two celebrity magazines, identified as having been taken when Berry was “out and about in Los Angeles .” Berry ’s attorney, Evan Spiegel, claims he has witnesses who saw the photographers conducting a “very blatant and invasive trespass.” An investigation is said to be underway.

Rumor mill cranks out word of Combs-Cassie nuptials

Word has it that the man whose newest reality show will soon debut on VH1 may soon have a new bride. Sean “Diddy” Combs is widely rumored to be planning a Jay-Z-Beyoncé move with his 21-year-old label recruit Cassie. Combs, 39, reportedly has given word of the pending wedding to his close friends. His new series, the “Apprentice”-style “I Want to Work for Diddy,” debuts Aug. 4.
