A 50-year-old man is in jail under a $1 million bond for allegedly setting his wife on fire after an argument.

According to media reports, Howard Stewart and his wife, 35-year-old Christina Lee, were involved in a heated argument after Lee’s 12-year-old daughter accused Stewart of touching her inappropriately.

Police allege Stewart waited for Lee and her daughter to fall asleep, poured a combustible fluid on their bodies then struck a match. Luckily, the child was able to escape but Lee suffered burns on more than 40 percent of her body.

The incident occurred in New Haven, CT.

Randolph Forde, a teacher at Mundy’s Mill High School in suburban Atlanta was arrested and charged with making terrorist threats against one of his students.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports the attorney of the student who allegedly was threatened said Forde repeadedly  asked his client  if he was gay and after an altercation in class asked another student to kill him.

Shaniya Davis,5, is missing and her mother is one of the suspects arrested in the crime.

Police are charging 25-year-old Antoinette Davis with human trafficking, felony child abuse involving prostitution and filing a false police report as well as another suspect.

“Authorities in North Carolina have found the body of a 5-year-old girl reported missing by her mother, who has since been charged with human trafficking and child abuse involving prostitution.

Shaniya Davis was found around noon in Lee County, NC, on Walker Road near Highway 87, according to the Fayetteville Police Department. The girl was found about 7 miles from a hotel in Sanford where she was last seen, officials said.

Earlier in the day, Fayetteville Police spokeswoman Theresa Chance said officers were searching along the highway based on “reliable information” that indicated that Davis’ body may have been dumped there.

Police had previously believed they would find the girl alive. About 200 searchers fanned across several miles southeast of Sanford. Some walked along roads, ravines and fields while others drove on four-wheelers.”

Bishop Steven Parrott, the former pastor of Lighthouse Temple in Newark, NJ., pleaded guilty to misconduct by a corporate official. Parrot stole around $158,000 from church parishioners and community members.

Under the plea agreement, Parrott must pay restitution and serve at least three years in state prison.

At least one of Parrott’s victims is homeless, according to the Star-Ledger and the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith, of which Lighthouse Temple is a member, could also be sued.

Lionel McIntyre, a 59-year-old professor at Columbia University in New York, was arrested and charged with assault and harassment after allegedly punching  a white colleague in the eye during a heated argument about white privilege.

Carrie Davis, the alleged assault victim is also an employee of Columbia University.

The encounter happened in Toast, a popular, noisy bar and restaurant on Broadway north of campus, where the chatter often runs to current events and politics. Professor McIntyre liked to engage fellow patrons on the subject of race, according to one regular customer, Daniel Morgan, who considers himself a close acquaintance of both Professor McIntyre and Ms.  Davis.

The incident has also become a cultural/political issue.  In response to reporting of the story in the New York Post, a blogger wrote that McIntyre should be charged with a hate crime.

While not condoning the punch, noted columnist and educator Boyce Watkins understands how McIntyre felt.

This is no laughing matter for Katt Williams. The comedian spent the weekend in jail as he was arrested for burglary and criminal trespass.  He is expected to be arraigned Monday.

More details of the incident will be announced after bond is set.

When I first read this story, I thought it was a joke. Alas, it is not.

A South Carolina man caught on video having sex with a horse was sentenced Wednesday to three years in prison after pleading guilty for the second time in two years to abusing the creature.

Rodell Vereen was also ordered never to go near the stable where the horse’s owner caught him and held him for authorities at shotgun point over the summer. He apologized to the woman and to himself after admitting to buggery at the Horry County courthouse.

“I’m sorry about what I’ve done. I didn’t mean to do it. It’s my fault. I’m sorry for what I’ve done to myself,” Vereen said during Wednesday’s court hearing.

Vereen was arrested in July after Barbara Kenley caught him entering the barn at Lazy B Stables in Longs, about 20 miles northeast of Myrtle Beach. She had been staking out the stable for more than a week after setting up a surveillance camera and videotaping Vereen’s assault on her 21-year-old horse named Sugar.

Kenley said she became suspicious because her horse was acting strange and getting infections, and she noticed things were moved around the barn and dirt was piled up near the horse’s stall.

Vareen was sentenced to probation in 2007 for having sex with the same animal.  He was sentenced to a five-year prison stint with the possibility of release in three years.

Delonte West, the starting shooting guard for the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers is in hot water after being indicted on eight counts of carrying and concealing multiple guns while riding a motorcycle in Maryland.

West was indicted on two counts of carrying a dangerous weapon, two counts of carrying a handgun, two counts of transporting a handgun, and one count each of reckless driving and negligent driving. The charges are all misdemeanors. Each of the weapons counts carries a penalty of up to three years in prison.

West was initially charged with just two counts of carrying a handgun and with driving in excess of reasonable and prudent speed.

Court records don’t list a lawyer for West. His agent, Noah Croom, did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment.

West has been treated in the past for bipolar disorder, and last week his wife filed a domestic violence report against him in Ohio. No charges have been filed in that incident.

Al Sharpton used his Twitter account to blast New York cops for the “unfair treatment” of his daughter and ex-wife during a traffic dispute.

Kathy Jordan (Sharpton’s ex) and Dominique Sharpton were arrested in New York after the daughter allegedly ran through a stoplight and was pulled over by police.

Dominique called her mother who came to the scene. The pair were arrested after having a heated exchange with the officers, according to the New York Daily News. Both were issued tickets and released later that evening.

After an exhausting manhunt, a suspected Cleveland rapist is in police custody after police officers discover six female bodies in his home.

Police originally came to the home of 50-year-old Anthony Sowell’s to serve an arrest warrant for an allege sexual assault .  Sowell was not inside the home but police discovered five female victims were found inside the home, and another female body was discovered outside the home, said Cuyahoga County (Cleveland) Coroner Frank Miller III, to CNN.com.

As police scoured the city in pursuit of the suspect, a citizen informed police of Sowell’s whereabouts.   He was arrested without incident Saturday.
