Heeee’s Back. It appears that troubled football player Adam “Pacman” Jones is making a comeback to professional sports. But he’ll have to head further north to do so. Canadian Football League officials report that Jones agreed in principle to a one-year deal with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers late Monday night. He could join the team as early as Wednesday, Sports Illustrated reports. “It’ll be a good experience for me to get back in game shape and compete and play football, which I like to do,” Jones told SI.com. “I’m real happy for the opportunity that’s been given to me. Of course it’s disappointing to me to not be playing in the NFL. But things happen and you have to adjust.” The 26-year-old Jones, arguably one of the most talented ballers on the scene, has been hard-pressed to stay out of trouble. Suspended for the 2007 NFL season for violating the league’s personal conduct policy, he was booted from the Dallas Cowboys last year for four games following an altercation with a team-employed bodyguard after being traded from Tennessee. SI.com reported that several NFL general managers acknowledge that Jones has the skill set to be a productive player, but because “he’s already got 2 1/2 strikes against him,” he’s just not worth the time. John Murphy, the Blue Bombers’ director of player personnel, said that none of the NFL coaches or personnel people he has spoken with the last two weeks has called Jones a bad teammate. “If I was in the same position in the NFL, I might have a lot more reservations,” Murphy said. “But for me it’s a win-win. I’m smart enough to know that if I’m looking for somebody who can be a playmaker for the second half of our season, there isn’t a better football player who’s not in the NFL, at 25 years old, who’s ready to play football, is going to play with a chip on his shoulder, and is going to bring some fun and excitement to our team, our locker room, our city, and our league. And at the same time it’s a business decision as well as football decision. From a marketing standpoint, a business standpoint and a football standpoint, I could go to 100 NFL training camps and every preseason game and more people will hear and know about the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the next two weeks – from the coverage we’ll receive – than in the last 10 years.”

Could the Dallas Cowboys be thinking about bringing back troubled D-back Adam “Pacman” Jones after last year’s steady stream of bad publicity? Word is, owner Jerry Jones broached the possibility in an interview last weekend with the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Jones signed the controversial player after the league lifted his suspension after one year. In January, the team cut him loose after yet more problems, including a fight with the man paid by the Cowboys to babysit the often-in-trouble athlete. Rich Dalrymple, a spokesman for the ‘Boys, said the owner told him he was not planning to re-sign Jones.

The builder of the Dallas Cowboys‘ training facility – which collapsed on Saturday and left several people seriously injured — also constructed three other buildings that crumpled in severe weather over the past seven years, Sports Illustrated reports. Heavy winds destroyed the tent-like facility, leaving 12 people injured, including 33-year-old scouting assistant Rich Behm, whose spine was severed in the accident. Special teams coach Joe DeCamillis had surgery to repair vertebrae in his neck, and assistant athletic trainer Greg Gaither suffered a broken leg but was released Wednesday from Baylor University Medical Center The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has opened an investigation into the incident. Other similar facilities manufactured by Allentown, Pa.-based Summit Structures LLC or its related company, Cover-All Building Systems, were warehouse-type buildings in Philadelphia and upstate New York and an indoor arena for horse competition in Oregon, according to SI.com. They fell in conditions that included heavy snow, according to records and interviews.

Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Quincy Carter is back to playing pro ball, only this go-’round he’s not showing his stuff in the NFL. As a player for the Abilene Ruff Riders of the Indoor Football League, he’s proving he still has something left in his tank. The 53rd overall pick out of the University of Georgia by the Dallas Cowboys in 2001, Carter led his new squad to its first win of the season Monday over the Odessa Roughnecks. He finished the game completing 18-of-31 for 235 yards and five touchdowns. These days, the 31-year-old gunner earns the league standard of $200 per game, but that is fattened by a $50 bonus every time his team wins. There are 19 teams in the Indoor Football League. After a stink with the ’Boys, Carter headed to the New York Jets but was released in 2004 amid drug charges. He played two seasons in the Arena league and its minor league, af2, before a short stint on the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League. Last year, he had a tryout with the Miami Dolphins.

Say what you want about troubled, well-traveled wideout Terrell Owens, but the man knows how to get a gig. Cut by the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday, Owens was snatched up by the Buffalo Bills and signed to a one-year, $6.5 million deal – $4 million of that is guaranteed. Read the rest.

Well, Terrell Owens can’t say he didn’t have his chances. Having been cut by the Dallas Cowboys Wednesday – the third team that let the troubled wide receiver go after citing the negative impact he has on his fellow teammates – the 36-year-old gifted player will likely seek another team to ply his talent. After all, it’s not as if Owens is without skills. This past season he caught 69 passes for 1,052 yards and 10 touchdowns. Owens was drafted in the third round by the San Francisco 49ers in 1996. After seven years with the team, he left in a high-profile huff, implying that his former quarterback, Jeff Garcia, was a homosexual (a claim Garcia denied), and forcing the 49ers to battle him over his right to leave the team. Once in Philadelphia, where he averaged a touchdown a game and helped the team advance to the Super Bowl, he constantly aggravated his teammates, especially popular All-Pro quarterback Donovan McNabb, whom he described as weak. After just one season in Philly, Dallas took a chance and learned the hard way that where Owens goes, trouble follows. On varying days, he found himself at odds with quarterback Tony Romo, tight end Jason Witten, and offensive coordinator Jason Garrett. “There are several decisions on our roster we have to look at,” team owner Jerry Jones said recently. “This is the time of year we do that. I’m not trying to be trite, but as you all know we’re evaluating players in college, we’re evaluating free agents and we’re evaluating our own roster. This is an ongoing thing, not any different than this time last year.” ESPN reports that discussions of releasing Owens began immediately after the Cowboys’ 9-7 season, in which they missed the playoffs. The thought was that his waiver would improve moral in the locker room. When Owens was signed to his four-year, $34 million deal – which included a $12 million signing bonus – it was suspected that he would lead the ‘Boys to the Bowl.

Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Quincy Carter, who saw his NFL career cut short by drug-related charges in recent years, was locked up over the weekend allegedly for drunken driving and marijuana possession. Texas state troopers pulled the 31-year-old Carter over for allegedly failing to signal a turn. After officers approached his car, they noticed that he had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech, police said. A roadside test showed that Carter’s blood-alcohol level was at 0.14, according to Texas Department of Public Safety trooper Johnny Hernandez. The state’s legal limit is 0.08. Charges included misdemeanor possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana after the drug was found in his car, Hernandez said. Carter was arraigned Friday and being held in the Hidalgo County jail. Six years ago, the former University of Georgia player led the Cowboys to a record of 10-6 and into the playoffs. But he was waived during the training camp of the following season. He then headed to the New York Jets but was let go after poor play and drug-related arrests ended his NFL career. He had a stint in the Arena Football League and an unsuccessful tryout last year with the Miami Dolphins.

Former Dallas Cowboys star receiver Michael Irvin says that a passing motorist pointed a gun in his face as he drove in North Dallas Monday night. “The passenger pulled out a semiautomatic and I knew what time it was,” Irvin said. “But he said ‘Oh, that’s Michael Irvin, with the Dallas Cowboys.’” Irvin, who has been involved in numerous legal scrapes involving drugs, guns and sexual assault, said he was scared and did everything he could to keep the conversation going. “So we started talking about the Cowboys and everything,” said Irvin, now an NFL commentator. “Then they got back on the highway. …I tell you what, I’m glad he was a Cowboy fan.”

Shortly after the Philadelphia Eagles punk-slapped the Dallas Cowboys out of the playoffs on Sunday, quarterback Tony Romo collapsed in the shower, scaring his teammates who yelled for help as they pushed reporters out of the way. A stretcher was brought into the locker room for the 28-year-old slinger, but he was able to stand and walk into the training room under his own strength, according to published reports. “Um, you know, I was just a little banged up, I guess. …I’ve got to play better. The team’s got to play better. We didn’t play good this December. That’s obviously the story.” His girlfriend, Jessica Simpson, “rushed to his side as soon as she found out that Tony got hurt,” according to a source close to the singer.
