ENTERTAINMENT: Chris Rock Has Woman Trouble – Again; Tyrese Gibson’s Wife Says, ‘Where’s the Money?’

March 2nd, 2009

Chris Rock Has Woman Trouble – Again
The woman who once filed a paternity suit against comedian Chris Rock that never held up in court has lodged another civil action. This charges the 44-year-old funnyman with first raping her, having her hounded by a private investigator, and then dissing her on Howard Stern’s radio show. Monika Zsibrita, with whom Rock admits having a couple dinner dates – and ultimately sex – calls Rock a “monster” and says that he ruined her life. “My side has never been out,” she said outside the Los Angeles County Superior Court. Rock and Zsibrita met at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills about a decade ago, during the time Rock says he was estranged from his wife. She soon announced that she was pregnant and that Rock was the father, and filed a paternity suit. Two DNA tests proved that Rock was not the father. “Someone who was not pregnant with my child claimed to be pregnant with my child and requested large sums of money for this,” he testified at the time, noting that he had hired private eye Anthony Pellicano because he thought Zsibrita was flimflamming him. In the latest suit, filed in August and unsealed Thursday at the request of Zsibrita, the 36-year-old, married, stay-at-home mom says that she is merely trying to clear her good name. She said that she never asked for money from Rock, but that he gave her several checks totaling less than $18,000. She said she is not a gold-digger: “I am not a poor girl. I don’t need to date people for money.” In addition to Rock, she names as defendants Beverly Hills and three police supervisors. The monetary damages she is seeking is unclear.

Tyrese Gibson’s Wife Says, ‘Where’s the Money?’
Actor Tyrese Gibson’s ex says she won’t walk away from the marriage broke, RadarOnline.com reports. In her response to her husband’s divorce declaration, Norma Gibson said that it would be unreasonable for her to be expected to leave the marriage “a single mother with no family or friends, with effectively no funds whatsoever, to simply walk away from potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars simply because it is Petitioner’s position she must do so.” She goes on to say that “the short length of the marriage, which Petitioner cites ad nauseaum, is irrelevant – how much money Petitioner earned during the short marriage is the relevant issue. He earned roughly $800k during the 10 months of marriage.” She also rocked Tyrese for allegedly failing to visit their daughter, Shayla. “Persons in the entertainment industry always seem to have a fascinating ability to characterize their life choices as somehow different, more important and not a matter of choice, but a ‘requirement,’ entitling them to special rules and considerations,” she said.

Sports: Draft Value Dropped After College Dispute; D. Wade Denies Divorce Filing Claims

February 21st, 2009

Draft value dropped after college dispute. It didn’t stop Marlon Jackson from playing pro football, but a jury agrees that falsehood lowered his stock. The Indianapolis Colts defensive back was awarded $200,000 in a countersuit against a student who claimed Jackson attacked him with a bottle during college. There was no bottle, Jackson insisted. His lawyers claimed that the rumored violence damaged his reputation as he entered the draft. Jurors sided with Jackson’s representatives in the argument that his character had been defamed.

D. Wade denies divorce filing claims. Concerned over his public image, NBA superstar Dwyane Wade has filed a half-million-dollar lawsuit against his estranged wife claiming defamation. Among other accusations made by Siohvaughn Wade, the star’s spouse states in divorce papers that he gave her a STD and neglected his children. “It has been difficult to see false allegations, rumors and gossip repeatedly discussed in public about my personal life,” says D. Wade. “I had no other choice but to file this action in order to clear my name.” Two of Siohvaughn Wade’s attorneys are also named in the defamation lawsuit.

February 17th, 2009

Jayson Williams and Tonya Young

Jayson Williams gave oral to White girls, says wife. An ex-NBA star and former commentator who escaped a murder conviction has new troubles. Former Nets player Jayson Williams’ wife has filed for divorce, accusing him of physical and emotional abuse, family abandonment and bragging that he performed oral sex “on White girls.” Tanya Young Williams claims that her husband has threatened to kill her, faked a suicide and falsely claimed to have stomach cancer. Among the other allegations she makes is that the ex-baller once urinated in their home’s kitchen sink. Among other things, she wants sole custody of their children. Williams was charged with the 2002 shooting death of a limo driver, but he was not convicted. He reportedly killed the man accidentally, while playing with a shotgun. WORLD: Sierra Leone President Signs ‘Women’s Liberation’ Act

January 27th, 2009

In an effort to help women in abusive marriages, Sierra Leone President Ernest Bai Koroma signed into law the Marriage And Divorce Act 2007, otherwise known as the “Women’s Liberation” act, reports All Africa. Many marriages in the West African nation are not registered with the government, so the wives are not always protected by certain laws. “A good number of marriages, about 80 percent, are affected by this law,” Koroma said as he was signing the act in the country’s capital Freetown in front of other government officials.. “And because they were not registered and not regulated, so many abuses have been going on, especially against the underdogs, who in this case are the women. … But we know that women are the true heroines of our nation,” he said. Under this law, customary marriages (marriages that aren’t registered with the government) will be treated as if they are legal. In addition, marriages in which one spouse is under the age of 18, will be invalidated and couples who have lived together for longer than five years can be considered legally married. Forced marriages are now outlawed.

SPORTS: Miami Star’s Divorce Heats Up

January 20th, 2009

Miami Heat Star’s Divorce Gets Nasty Miami Heat star guard Dwyane Wade’s divorce from his high school sweetie is about as bitter as it could get. In the latest nasty twist, Siohvaughn, whom Wade married six years ago, claims that her husband not only left his kids and cheated on her, but he gave her a sexually transmitted disease. In a counter suit to Dwyane’s May 2007 divorce petition, Siohvaughn is seeking an undisclosed amount of Wade’s $14.4 million salary and the names of ”all of his sexual partners” during their marriage. In a statement, Dwyane’s attorney, James Pritikin, said: “These malicious allegations are absolutely false and we look forward to the opportunity to dispute them in court.” Dwyane, 27,  has two boys – Zaire, a first-grader who will be 7 next month, and Zion, 1 – with Siohvaughn, who  moved back to Chicago with the kids last year. In addition to his salary, according to court papers, Dwyane earns millions more from major endorsements such as Gatorade and Converse; he also has a dozen vehicles, including four Cadillacs, four Mercedes-Benzes and a Maybach. He has been linked romantically to actress Gabrielle Union, 36, who once married to former Jacksonville Jaguar Chris Howard. In her court pleadings, Siohvaughn says: “Dwyane has dissipated substantial sums of marital property including . . . buying his mother a $2 million church; placing substantial sums of money in an account with another woman; providing numerous friends and family members with unfettered access to accounts with hundreds of thousands of dollars of marital funds from which they made substantial withdrawals . . .. ” He also cut her off financially, she says. Dwyane’s attorney said in a statement, “It is sad that an obviously angry and bitter woman will go to any lengths to publicly damage Mr. Wade.”

ENTERTAINMENT: R.Kelly Divorces; TVs Will Go Black

January 12th, 2009

R. Kelly Gets a Divorce
R&B singer R. Kelly and Andrea Lee, his wife of 11 years, have divorced, the entertainer’s lawyers announced in a statement. “The parties have reached an amicable resolution concerning all issues related to their marriage and will share joint custody of their three children,” the announcement said. “The details of this agreement will remain confidential and the family requests that their privacy be respected during this time.” It’s not as if the announcement were a shock. The couple, which has three children together, separated more than three years ago after Lee filed an emergency restraining order against Kelly, claiming that he had physically abused, harassed and stalked her. Lee, 35, who is seven years younger than Kelly, met the performer while auditioning as a backup dancer for him.

Some TVs Will Go Black
Next Month Hundreds of thousands of Americans – many of whom are poor and minority – will be left out of the TV loop next month when all televisions switch from analog to digital. For lawmakers like Rep. Edward Markey (D-Mass.) and Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.), that’s unacceptable, the Feb. 17 changeover should be delayed. While the switch guarantees a much sharper picture, it would leave hundreds of thousands of folks without any picture at all, according to John Walsh, senior vice president for programming at PBS. “Currently, 99 percent of American households have television,” said Walsh, speaking to the Television Critics Association. “Are TV households in the U.S. now going to be 95 percent? Ninety-seven percent?” “Just because of the nature of digital versus analog, someone who is on the wrong side of a ridge or something like that may suddenly not be able to get a station that they always used to get analog.”

R. Kelly Divorce is Finalized

For better or worse – depending on how you feel about his reputation – R. Kelly is single again. The singer, who was cleared of controversial child porn charges last year, is divorced from his wife of 11 years, Andrea Lee Kelly. During the six years it took for Kelly to see trial after widespread footage of a man resembling the singer in sex acts with a teen surfaced, he and Andrea had other drama. In 2005, she filed an emergency protection order to keep Kelly away from her after saying he physically abused her. She later dropped the claims.

August 21st, 2008

Janet Jackson will unveil lingerie line

Janet Jackson

Singer Janet Jackson has already exposed at least one part of her body to the world. Now she wants to dress down fans and other ladies who may get some sexy inspiration from her new line of lingerie. The Pleasure Principle line, named after one of Jackson’s earlier hit songs, will go retail in the United States later this year. Stores in Australia and elsewhere will also sell the intimate apparel. Pleasure Principle clothing will reportedly be sold for under $40. Wardrobe malfunction components not included.

Bobby Brown hit with over $90,000 in fees.

Bobby Brown

One of the most high-profile divorces in R&B music’s history carried a high price tag. The end of singer Bobby Brown’s marriage to pop diva Whitney Houston reportedly left him with a debt of $90,217 in unpaid legal fees. Lawyers who represented Brown have filed suit to collect on the tab. Earlier this year, word of Brown’s plans for a tell-all book that included dirty details of his marriage to Houston went public. The book is said to be on hold.

DMX pushes “This Life of Mine.”

DMX

Could there be a method to rapper DMX’s legal madness? Seems that some of the currently jailed performer’s recent antics, including over a half-dozen arrests since the spring, have provided material for a new reality show. Previously broadcast on BET, “DMX: Soul of a Man” followed the star in his day-to-day trek from his home in Phoenix to road appearances and beyond. Now the rapper, who faces charges ranging from drug possession to identity fraud, says he has a second reality series in the works. “In many ways, my life has been an open book,” X tells AllHipHop.com. “I haven’t always been the one writing the story. With this show, however, people will get to see and hear with their own eyes and ears what really goes on in my life, and I think they’ll come to understand me a little bit better with each episode.” The new show’s working title is “DMX: This Life of Mine.” Multiple networks have reportedly expressed their interest.
