Not that this isn’t a standard feature in even the crappiest of cell phones, Nokia just wanted to be different with the naming conventions. Comes With Music is actually the name of Nokia’s new digital entertainment service. The oddly named service gives users of eligible devices unlimited access to millions of music tracks from the Nokia Music store with tunes from local and international artists for a year. When the year is up, music lovers can keep any music they downloaded. To make sure that the music selection is legit, Nokia has teamed up with EMI, Sony BMG, Warner Music Group and Universal Music Group in addition to some of the biggest indie music labels. Since the release of the Magnavox Odyssey in 1972, the console has been king in the world of video games. As the technological capabilities of what CPUs and game developers could do increased, a cold war of game consoles began. Many consoles were rendered obsolete or failed to bring in the dollars (Atari 2600, TurboGrafx-16, and Sega Dreamcast we hardly knew ye) were issued a one way ticket to the landfill. As a rabid and dedicated gamer. I can say with unwavering conviction that gaming in all its forms is cool. Whether it’s an RPG, FPS, Survival Horror, or a good old platformer — I’m into it. And even though I’m a tried-and-true console girl, I defiitely have love for the unbridled pleasure that PCs and handhelds can offer, hell the DS is helping kids manage their diabetes. One area that’s been lacking on the gaming front is the mobile phone. And while there have been attempts to make mobile gaming (anyone remember the Nokia N-Gage?), it’s only now with quality games backed by big named game studios like Electronic Arts, that anyone’s taking mobile gaming seriously. When football season ends, it always a bit of a bummer. Luckily Electronic Arts has always been there to cheer us up with the latest version of Madden NFL Football, to tide us over until the first kickoff of the season. EA has had a stranglehold hold on the football genre for years. The nail in the coffin for anyone else trying to get some sweet NFL gaming action essentially came when the gaming monolith inked an exclusive licensing agreement with the NFL.
