Movie star Faizon Love was taken to jail Monday for allegedly punching a man outside a Los Angeles hotel. He was booked on charges of assault at the sheriff’s station in West Hollywood. The incident began as a beef outside the Standard Hotel in early January. As the war of words escalated, Love allegedly punched the man twice. If convicted, Love, 40, could be looking at up to four years in prison, according to the district attorney office. Love has appeared in the movies “Friday,” “Days of Wrath” and “Of Boys and Men.”

Former funnyman defends ex-accused pedophile. Web sites are still buzzing since last week’s confrontational messages from hip hop legend Funkmaster Flex and comedian Faizon Love – both taking opposite positions on the R. Kelly sex trial’s outcome. “Me and other DJs, other people on TV, were all to blame for this dude feeling comfortable enough to go on TV. …” Flex says in response to Kelly’s recent BET interview. The singer was acquitted on child sex abuse charges this year after a prolonged legal ordeal over video footage that appears to show Kelly in various acts with an underage teen. During his BET interview, Kelly blamed jealous and resentful former associates, including his own brother, for the accusations that he’s a pedophile. Flex’s YouTube posting finds the DJ and TV host accusing Kelly of gloating because he “got away with” a crime. “You are ridiculous; you need help and you should seek help,” Flex says into the camera, adding “I blame myself.” Although no reason is stated for Faizon Love’s chivalrous defense, but after confessing that he doesn’t even know Kelly, the ex-“Parent ‘Hood” co-star tears into Flex with a video of his own. While Kelly’s music plays in the background, Love calls Flex “punk snitch b**ch” and asks, “Are you a mother**ck*ng judge or attorney?” He even goes so far as inviting the DJ to a physical confrontation at a Bronx, N.Y. address. But before “Big Worm” gets into his fighting stance, he might do well to remember that Kelly’s jurors expressed no doubt that the singer is shown in the sex tape: His acquitters based their “not guilty” verdict on not knowing the alleged victim’s identity.
