The event is just two days before the Grammys and will be Hudson’s first public appearance since the tragedy. Hudson is competing for four awards, Best R&B Album. “It’s been a childhood dream of mine to release an album, so to receive four Grammy nominations is truly a blessing,” she said in a statement following the nominations.

Jennifer Hudson going back to work. Singer Jennifer Hudson is reportedly getting back to work, months after the tragedy of her relatives being killed in their South Chicago home. Hudson is set to begin filming a video next week for her single, “If This Isn’t Love,” according to her label, J Records. Hudson was due to film the clip in Los Angeles when her mother, Darnell Hudson Donerson, and brother, Jason Hudson, were discovered shot to death in their Chicago home on the city’s South Side on Oct. 24. The body of her nephew, 7-year-old Julian King, was found in a sport utility vehicle three days later. Hudson’s estranged brother-in-law, William Balfour, who is married to Hudson’s sister Julia, has been charged in the slayings. Prosecutors have said Balfour was upset Julia had been dating another man. Hudson has been in seclusion since the shootings.

Police say they’ve got the murderer of Hudson’s family. Police formally charged the estranged brother-in-law of Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson on Tuesday with murders in the shooting deaths of Hudson’s mother, brother and nephew. Despite questions from the suspect’s mother, police said on Tuesday that they were confident that evidence was sufficient to convict William Balfour, 27, the estranged husband of Jennifer Hudson’s elder sister, Julia, for the crimes, Reuters reports. “You can never always know how a jury will decide a case, but I’m confident the evidence is there and I’m confident we’ll be successful,” Chicago Police Superintendent Jody Weis said. They had the murder weapon and physical evidence as well as the testimony that would convict Balfour. The motive for the October 24 murders, police said, was a dispute between the two Julia and Balfour.
