Hammerin’ Hank Wants Users Outed

August 5th, 2009

Former home-run king Hank Aaron, who saw his record topped by a slugger who purportedly was juiced on steroids, wants those on the infamous list of users exposed for the world to see. There are more than 100 names on a list of Major League Baseball players who tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs in 2003. In recent months, a name or two has trickled into the newspapers. “I wish for once and forever that we could come out and say we have 100 and some names, name them all, and get it over and let baseball go on,” Aaron told The Associated Press in a wide-ranging interview. “I don’t know how they keep leaking out. I just wish that they would name them all and get it over with.” Aaron captured the home-run title from Babe Ruth in 1974, and held onto it until 2007, when San Francisco Giants outfielder Barry Bonds passed him up. Aaron, was sure not to attend the games that Bonds was expected to shatter his record, believing that allegations of Bond’s steroid use had tainted the accomplishment.

Troubled NFL Player Escapes Suspension; Hammerin’ Hank Among NHL Purchasers

June 3rd, 2009

Troubled NFL Player Escapes Suspension Brandon Marshall, oft-misbehaving wideout for the Denver Broncos, won’t be suspended this season, as many had predicted, for his latest arrest for domestic dispute, The Associated Press reports. Marshall learned Tuesday that the NFL will not punish him for violating the league’s conduct code, despite his repeated missteps with the law over the past couple years. Last season, his season was delayed while he dealt with a bunch of police-related charges. In March, Marshall was arrested following a fight with his new fiancée. However, the charges were dropped when the couple refused to testify against each other, according to AP.  ”We are humbled, enthused and excited by this decision by the commissioner’s office,” Marshall’s agent, Kennard McGuire, told AP. “We also understand that Brandon has to continue to grow, be accountable and responsible. We have no doubt he’ll do all the above and more.”
