Entertainment: Ten Gs in Bling Stolen From Latifah; Diddy Says He’ll Attend Obama Inaugural

January 3rd, 2009

Queen Latifah

Ten Gs in bling stolen from Latifah. Authorities on the island of Tobago are investigating the theft of about $10,000 in jewelry from actress Queen Latifah this week. “Big Tif” was looking forward to chilling in her luxury villa at the $1,000-a-night rental with a companion when burglars got her for a bracelet, three rings and a gold chain. The Queen had stepped out to attend a brunch held in her honor after she’d reportedly checked into the villa under the name of “Cynthia Hadden.” “Several searches are being carried out and the police are trying to have the jewelry returned to Queen Latifah,” a police spokesman told Trinidad and Tobago’s Newsday. “Investigators said the larceny seems to be an inside job and efforts are being made round the clock to make a breakthrough.”

Diddy

Diddy says he’ll attend Obama inaugural. Among the many celebrities rumored to be attending Barack Obama’s inauguration as the first Black president this month, Sean “Diddy” Combs is the latest confirmed. Combs’ reps tell TMZ.com rumors that he was begging and pleading for tickets to the historic event are false: “The story is ridiculous and untrue. Diddy was offered tickets by the Obama inaugural committee because of his work on the campaign trail with Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige and (record exec) Kevin Liles. He never asked for tickets and he was never asked to pay for them.” Diddy adds, “I am very grateful to be a part of this moment in history. I’ll see ya’ll at the inauguration.” Maybe so. But then again, Diddy’s the same guy who claimed to be flying commercial to save fuel expenses on his personal jet.

Family Wants Football Legend’s Jewelry

October 21st, 2008

OJ

Family wants football legend’s jewelry.

A judge has ordered one of the men who O.J. Simpson was recently convicted of robbing to produce a Hall of Fame ring worth about $50,000. Lawyers for Fred Goldman, father of Ron Goldman, who was murdered along with Simpson’s ex-wife, want collector Alfred Beardsley to give up the bling. Though Simpson was acquitted after being accused in the 1990s murders of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson, a civil jury found him liable. Fred Goldman has sought, by pursuing Simpson’s assets, to collect on a hefty financial settlement awarded to the family. The Hall of Fame football player was recently convicted of robbing and kidnapping Beardsley and his partner in Las Vegas last year.

Floyd Mayweather Is Relieved of His Bling

September 4th, 2008

Boxing champ’s $7 million in jewelry stolen from his home.
If you run into boxing’s big baller, Floyd “Money” Mayweather, he may be a little light around the neck, wrist and fingers. The recently retired fighter, who was once featured on YouTube.com counting out his cash before all the World Wide Web, evidently attracted attention from thieves who allegedly took $7 million in jewels from Mayweather’s crib. The burglary occurred last month when suspects reportedly entered Pretty Boy’s house through his bedroom window. But Mayweather only recently announced a $100,000 reward for information. At least one of the suspects’ partly concealed face is caught on surveillance video. Too bad Mayweather’s cameras don’t capture intruders as well as his own grill.

40/40 in Las Vegas could expand.

Jay Z

Rap superstar Jay-Z’s Las Vegas 40/40 Club is rumored to be at the center of talks with the Las Vegas Sands Corp. for a possible buy-in. The 40/40 Club could bring Jigga even more millions if a 50 percent stake in the company is sold. The Sands agreement would reportedly let the casino corporation open 40/40 Clubs in Europe and also expand the U.S. nightspot.

Lil’ Wayne to return his ring.

 Lil Wayne

Lil’ Wayne has come to terms with a New Orleans jeweler who says the rapper snagged a $138,000 diamond ring and a $32,000 necklace – but only paid $24,000 for the bling. Weezy, who was sued by the jeweler, has reportedly agreed to return the ring and pay an agreed-upon balance to settle the debt. The sale took place last October. The jeweler’s lawsuit was filed this year.
