Former President Bill Clinton, who was blasted by Black leaders for his campaign tactics during his wife’s run against Barack Obama, is back to the kind of talk that made him a star in the Black community. D.C. Students Arrested After Huge Girl Fight
lunchtime girl fight at Washington, D.C.’s Cardozo High School resulted in 16 students being arrested. Police were called to the school after hearing reports about a “large group of females engaging in just a big fight,” said a police official. “As a result of the large fight, several other melees began to erupt.” Click for more.

NAACP Will Honor Ali
The NAACP will honor legendary boxer Muhammad Ali by granting him an Image Awards for distinguished service in Los Angeles ceremony tonight in Los Angeles. The NAACP, the nation’s largest and oldest civil rights group, praised the former world heavyweight champion’s accomplishments as perhaps the greatest boxer of all time and as a great social activist and humanitarian. Actress Halle Berry and screenwriter-actor Tyler Perry will host the 40th annual awards show, which will air on Fox TV. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, marks its 100th anniversary today.

 Charles Morgan, Jr., whose legal brilliance was tapped for some of the most high-profile civil rights cases in modern history, has died. He was 78. During his many courtroom battles, Morgan, helped craft the defense that compelled the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn the 1967 draft-evasion conviction of world heavyweight boxing champ Muhammad Ali. Muhammad Ali drops in on Ryder Cup. Boxing legend Muhammad Ali was a surprise visitor at the Ryder Cup golf tournament in his native Louisville, Ky. on Thursday. European team captain Nick Faldo was overwhelmed to the point of tears by his first meeting with former heavyweight champion who many regard as the greatest boxer in history. “It was an incredible moment,” Faldo says. “I thought it was really special. I’m full of emotion and I have got to let it out somewhere.”

Baller’s visit to Africa inspires documentary. NBA star Tracy McGrady is gaining attention off the court following his recent travels in Africa, including Chad, where he met refugees from Darfur. The athlete’s encounters and experiences in the Motherland are the subject of the new documentary “3 Points.” Among McGrady’s experiences are observing children who play soccer without a field of grass. When McGrady offers to pay $1,000 for the creation of competition grounds, he’s told that the green is low on the children’s needs list. Despite his influence and wealth, McGrady often finds himself unclear on what to do about the overwhelming tragedy he sees. Producers of “3 Points” hope to find a distributor for the film.

Linebacker issued citations for alleged intoxication. Wisconsin linebacker Jonathan Casillas is due in court today to face accusations that he drove drunk on a motor scooter last month. Casillas, 21, was cited for first-offense drunken driving, driving with a prohibited alcohol concentration and driving with two persons on a moped. “We handled that the same way as any alcohol or drug (violation),” coach Bret Bielema says of the school’s response. The Wisconsin State Journal adds that Bielema didn’t elaborate on Casillas’ discipline. Wisconsin has a 3-0 record and will next play Michigan on Sept. 27.
