Ne-Yo Addresses Gay Rumors After PEOPLE Comment

January 10th, 2009

Ne-Yo Ne-Yo

The “gentleman” of R&B has responded to the latest gossip and, he says, misinterpretation of comments he recently made to People magazine about his ATL neighbor Young Jeezy. Ne-Yo’s Web-issued statement reads in part: “One rule of being a gentleman is to keep your cool and composure at all costs, but right about now, I gotta loosen up this tie and take off this expensive suit jacket and talk to the people for a minute…Pardon my French, but what the f–k is wrong with y’all?!…I understand that a hater’s job is to hate, clearly. But it’s when people start feeding into what a hater is saying that something must be addressed…I tell People magazine that Young Jeezy’s crib is right next to mine and that, once, I saw him in there from across the way. I then make a JOKE about him maybe not wanting to walk around naked in his crib with the shades up ‘cause the buildings are THAT close to each other, and that AIN’T something I care to see. Suddenly, everybody thinks I said I saw Young Jeezy in his crib naked when NEVER ONCE did I say anything like that.” And there’s much, much more at Ne-Yo’s MySpace spot.

Entertainment: Attorney Disses Montel Williams Over Lawsuit; Lionel Richie Hires Akon, Ne-Yo for New CD

November 5th, 2008

Montel Williams

Attorney disses Montel Williams over lawsuit.

A talk show producer who was fired last year after suffering a brain aneurysm is suing a network for $3 million. Erin Primmer says CBS, which airs the syndicated “Montel” program, is responsible for her loss of a six-figure position. Primmer says her doctor cleared her to return to work, but her contract wasn’t renewed when an executive said only “someone capable of handling pressure” should hold the job. Primmer’s lawyer E. Christopher Murray tells The New York Post that host Montel Williams’ silence over the complaint has been deafening: “Coming from a guy who prides himself on helping people who are disabled… it’s a little hypocritical.”

Lionel Richie hires Akon, Ne-Yo for new CD. R&B veteran Lionel Richie has become better known as TV personality Nicole Richie’s dad in recent years. But the former Commodores lead singer’s Just Go CD features help from two hit-makers who Richie hopes will give him a boost. Ne-Yo and Akon both share writing credits on the disc, due out in February. Richie was set to perform this week on TV’s “Dancing With the Stars.”

Entertainment News: Ne-Yo To Get $700,320 In Lost Wages; Skull Gang crew member denies being robbery victim.

September 4th, 2008

Ne-Yo will receive $700,320 in lost wages.  The controversy over whether R. Kelly booted R&B star Ne-Yo from his January “Double Up” tour because of Ne-Yo’s talent or because of a technicality has ended with a price tag. An L.A. judge has ordered Kelly’s promoter, Rowe Entertainment, to pay Ne-Yo $700,320, in lost wages. Ne-Yo claimed Kelly was hatin’ because audiences were loving Ne-Yo’s opening set, while the promoter said paperwork was an issue – though it seems that fixing the paperwork might have been an obvious remedy. Rowe gave no response to the lawsuit filed under Ne-Yo’s given name, Shaffer Smith. So the producer and performer won by default. And he still gets to call R. Kelly a hater.

Skull Gang crew member denies being robbery victim. Depending on who you believe, the Skull Gang’s Juelz Santana lost an expensive necklace after a promoter evened the score on a debt, or Juelz was just treated rudely. The promoter allegedly lost $70,000 on a gig with Santana’s crew and later caught up with the Gang in the U.K. After reportedly attacking the rapper in his hotel room, but being held back by security, the promoter and his crew allegedly followed Santana to his new overnight spot and snatched the chain. Juelz says he wasn’t robbed, but that there was, indeed, a confrontation. He says the beef was about a gig paid in advance to his former manager, which never took place.
