Mariah Carey drops her representative
A multi-platinum-selling singer is the latest star to fire long-time Hollywood manager Benny Medina. Mariah Carey has let go of the high-profile handler, whose name is widely known in the realms of TV and music. Talk show host and “America’s Top Model” star Tyra Banks also dropped Medina, who helped produce her TV productions. Singer Usher let the veteran manager go, as well, in the midst of his on-and-off representation by his mom.

Privately owned LPs, CDs slated for non-profit archive. The man whose private music collection of 3 million records and 300,000 CDs includes hip hop and all forms of American music wants to sell. Paul Mawhinney’s 60-year-old treasure trove houses everything from Jay-Z to Enelmedio and plenty of other artists you’ve never heard of. It’s appraised at $50 million, but Mawhinney hopes to donate the collection to a museum or similar non-profit that can archive it efficiently. He’s offering a bargain price of $3 million.
