Fiddy’s Reality Show is Nixed

December 30th, 2008

It only took a month for MTV to pull the plug on rapper 50 Cent’s reality show, “The Money and the Power.” Officials with the station attributed the decision to poor ratings. MTV Entertainment President Brian Gradenthe also cited the network’s desire to find shows that better “reflect Generation ‘Why Not?’—living, working and playing on their own terms, ‘adventure capitalists’ if you will, pursuing a variety of thrill-seeking, 2.0, express-yourself enterprises.”

Entertainment: Singer Seeks Love, Reality-Style; Eriq LaSalle Set to Direct “ER” in 2009

November 7th, 2008

Chili

Singer seeks love, reality-style. The celebrity dating show craze continues with TLC’s lead vocalist stepping into reality romance. Chilli, who represents the “C” in her popular ’90s’ group, is the latest to issue a call for guys to compete for her affections. Men in Atlanta, where the show is set to be taped, are being asked to submit their particulars to a Web site connected with the planned production. Only 21 and older need apply. And presumably, like TLC’s hit song states, Chilli “don’t want no scrubs,” so they probably shouldn’t apply, either.

Eriq LaSalle set to direct “ER” in 2009. Actor Eriq LaSalle will get a chance to go behind the camera on the show that helped launch his career. LaSalle is set to direct at least one episode of the series “ER,” due to air in February. LaSalle’s other work has found him various feature film roles. Among his most notable comedic parts is LaSalle’s turn in Coming to America as the face of “Soul Glow” hair products (”Just let your sooooul glow!”)

50 Cent

50 Cent Gives Fans a Shot at Fame in New Reality Show.

Watch out Donald Trump!  50 Cent is filming his own “Apprentice”-like reality show, and word has it – it’s going to be off the chain!  The show, “The Money and the Power,” will feature 14 contestants living together and competing to earn a $100,000 investment from the rapper and business mogul. In the show, Fiddy will share his lessons on how to make it to the top.   Similar to Trump’s “The Apprentice,” the contestants are all hand-picked by 50 Cent himself to compete in “business flair, strength, ambition, fearlessness” and originality, according to MTV. The series will also feature special appearances by several celebrities, including fellow G-Unit member Lloyd Banks, rapper and actor LL Cool J and now former Danity Kane member Aubrey O’Day. The show will premiere on Thursday, Nov. 6 at 10 p.m. (ET/PT)
