HEALTH: Supreme Court Justice Recovers from Surgery
February 16th, 2009Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, following surgery for pancreatic cancer, headed home from the hospital Friday with good news from her doctors. “All lymph nodes proved negative for cancer, and no metastasis was found,” a statement from the Supreme Court said. Her cancer was at stage 1, according to Dr. Murray Brennan, the pancreatic specialist who removed Ginsburg’s spleen and a portion of her pancreas during surgery Feb. 5 at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. The 75-year-old justice will likely begin a six-month regimen of chemotherapy, and she may receive radiation treatment before or after.
