Sports: Sean Taylor’s Kin Sells Player’s Prized Whips; LeBron James Web Site Shuts Down; A-Rod’s Turkey Day Date Attracts Media
November 27th, 2008

Sean Taylor’s kin sells player’s prized whips. The family of a football player killed a year ago is selling his car collection in order to help support themselves. Washington Redskins Pro Bowler Sean Taylor was shot at his Miami home last November in a botched burglary and later died. Several teenagers have been charged with the crime. Taylor’s family lists, among the vehicles he cherished, a 2004 BMW 760 on an auction site that reads: “Sean bought this car when he was drafted in 2004. It was his customized Redskins-burgundy masterpiece…He only drove it to games and other special events…It was the first gift he bought for himself when he was drafted.”
LeBron James Web site shuts down. Highly courted Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James isn’t being pursued by at least one software company. The relationship between James and Microsoft has resulted in a “page cannot be found”-like ending after their collaboration concluded with the shutdown of lebronjames.com. James appeared in TV ads for Microsoft’s Windows Vista operating system last year. But the partnership dwindled after Microsoft’s Joanne Bradford, who made the deal, resigned from the company’s media network division.
A-Rod’s turkey day date attracts media. Alex Rodriguez will likely have plenty of camera action in his midst for Thanksgiving. On the heels of reports of an unflattering e-mail from his recently divorced wife, the New York Yankees star has media watching to see if he’ll spend the holiday with his family or with singer Madonna. Cynthia Rodriguez referred to A-Rod as “soul-less” after hearing of reported plans that her ex had for enjoying the holiday with the pop star. A-Rod had recently landed on a Miami plane with Madonna before her Wednesday concert. He then quickly made plans to have meal at Houston’s restaurant with Cynthia and their two young daughters. But where he’ll carve the turkey today remains the question.
