We follow our favorite celebrities’ social networking streams with greedy abandon, anxiously waiting for every new bit of info we can get to validate why they’re so great. From Grammy-winner Chrisette Michele (@epiphanygirl) taking a trip down memory lane, “Remember when u dialed 911 on ur beeper If it was an emergency. And remember swooshy pants and 54 elevens?” to Roots drummer Questlove (@questlove) adamantly disagreeing with NYMag.com’s best NY fried chicken list, “that’s a lie! that’s a cotdamn lie!!!” http://nymag.com/restaurant….,” it can be a fun diversion from the doldrums of everyday life. I mean you get frequent flier miles for staying loyal to an aircraft company and rewards points with certain credit cards.  Hell, I even earn points at Sephora towards my next makeup splurge. Twitter’s Only a Phone Call Away

Yesterday, twitterholics were given the tools to take their addiction to the next level. Users will be able to make voice calls to each using the popular microblogging service.Jajah, an IP Telephony company has just released the beta version of Jajah@call, “the twitter calling solution”. Users simply type in @call then @username to place a call to a fellow tweeter. So in theory, you would tweet @call @misssmith11 if you wanted to give me a shout on twitter. If the user is following you, you can chat with them for two minutes free of charge. There is a catch however, both users must be Jajah users to get in on the fun. Read the rest of this entry »

Not your cheesy YouTube videos, but actually creating a film with an A-List roster of talent and multi-million dollar budget. Okay, I’m exaggerating but, start-up company Yoostar is pretty close. You don’t have to be a big name producer or a media mogul to see that things have changed in the music game. Gone are the days of spending millions to push a new artist. Hell, it’s hard for an established artist to get that kind of promotion now. Music needs a new business model — stat. Read the rest of this entry »
