  The Miami Heat is among teams reported to have an interest in New York guard Stephon Marbury, who could be waived this week. Newsday and various Florida media outlets say the Knicks may be ready to cut “Starbury” loose, freeing him to sign with any team. The point guard, who’s entering the last year of his $21.9 million contract with the Knicks, recently recovered from ankle surgery. The talented player was often associated with trouble last season, including conflicts with ex-coach Isiah Thomas. Get more at Playa Hater.Razorbacks’ champ track squads penalized. The NCAA is upholding sanctions against the Arkansas champion track squads that included future Olympian Tyson Gay. The Razorbacks plan to ask an NCAA committee that oversees track and field scoring to reveal how many points the men’s title-winning ’04 and ’05 teams must lose. Arkansas had appealed a decision by the NCAA to take away both titles and give the school three years of probation. Gay and a former assistant track coach were the players involved with the NCAA-cited violations.

Bolt, Powell, Gay to compete in 100. World record-holding Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt faces off with sprinters Asafa Powell and Tyson Gay tonight at the Van Damme Memorial in Brussels, Belgium. Powell recently matched the second-fastest 100 sprint time ever, while Gay is a world champion in the event. The race, which will be Bolt’s last of the season, airs at 11 p.m. on the ESPN Classic network and again Sunday on ESPN2 at 3:30 p.m. “I’m definitely going out there to compete at my best,” Bolt says. The three runners are regarded as the fastest men of all time, with the 10 fastest times in the 100 on their collective resume. “This has never happened before,” meet organizer Wilfried Meert says of the race. Gay, however, says it’s possible that he’ll skip the race, depending on the state of his lingering hamstring injury.

Browns’ Braylon Edwards offers help to homeless youths. Cleveland Browns star wide receiver Braylon Edwards plans to score big, both on and off the field, for 4,000 homeless students in the community. Beginning at Sunday’s first Browns’ game of the season, the player says he’ll give $1,000 per each touchdown reception he scores to the Cleveland Metropolitan School District Project’s ACT (Action for Children and Youth in Transition) program. “All children deserve to receive a quality education,” says Edwards. “It’s vitally important that we, as adults and community leaders, recognize the need to support those who are hindered by circumstances of basic survival when they leave class each day.” A Pro Bowl receiver, Edwards caught 80 passes last season alone.

Actress denies pregnancy rumors. NBA All-star Tony Parker may be Eva Longoria Parker’s husband, but he’s not her babydaddy. The actress denies that her recent change in appearance has anything to do with a little Tony or Toni. “I’m not pregnant. I’m just fat,” she says. “I gained five pounds over the summer, so instead of a size zero, I’m a size one.” Hopefully, Longoria Parker will come clean whenever it’s time to start calling her favorite point guard “papa.”

Winning by a full four body-lengths over American defending champ Shawn Crawford, Jamaica’s Usain Bolt made Olympic history Wednesday. Bolt became the first-ever sprinter to break world records and win gold medals in both the 100- and 200-meter races during one Olympics. “I blew my mind and I blew the world’s mind,” Bolt says. His 19.30 seconds in the 200 made him the first man since Carl Lewis to sweep gold medals from both sprints. Lewis did so in 1984. Bolt also beat Michael Johnson’s 12-year-old record of 19.32 seconds. Not even Olympics legend Jesse Owens completed a 100, 200 sweep. Weeks after a Memorial Day weekend photo showed Phoenix Suns center Shaquille O’Neal and his wife Shaunie lounging together on vacation, the couple confirms that they’ll remain together. Shaq filed for divorce last September, calling the marriage “irretrievably broken.” And this spring, he famously rapped about his ex-Laker teammate, saying, “Kobe ratted me out, that’s why I’m gettin’ divorced.” But rumors of Shaq’s infidelity or of Shaunie’s abuse of his paychecks are no longer a factor, Mrs. O’Neal says. “Neither one of us could probably answer why we were getting (divorced) in the first place,” she observes. “Things have been going so great that someone actually had to remind us that ‘Hey, you do remember those papers are still there.’ Literally, it was days ago. So, we’ve agreed that before we leave Florida in a few days we’ll make sure that that’s gone away.”

Michael Vick’s estate suffers as he serves time

A bankruptcy judge may appoint a trustee to oversee ex-NFL star Michael Vick’s estate while the suspended player serves prison time for financing an illegal dog-fighting ring. A Sept. 5 hearing could determine how the former Falcon’s property will be handled. “It has become clear, since the filing of this case, that Mr. Vick has very limited knowledge of the state of his finances,” wrote bankruptcy Judge Frank Santoro. “…It appears that Mr. Vick has routinely relied upon others to make financial decisions for him, giving them discretionary control over large sums of money.” Vick filed for bankruptcy protection July 7. A former advisor to Vick was recently accused of hustling a church out of $500,000.
