We follow our favorite celebrities’ social networking streams with greedy abandon, anxiously waiting for every new bit of info we can get to validate why they’re so great. From Grammy-winner Chrisette Michele (@epiphanygirl) taking a trip down memory lane, “Remember when u dialed 911 on ur beeper If it was an emergency. And remember swooshy pants and 54 elevens?” to Roots drummer Questlove (@questlove) adamantly disagreeing with NYMag.com’s best NY fried chicken list, “that’s a lie! that’s a cotdamn lie!!!” http://nymag.com/restaurant….,” it can be a fun diversion from the doldrums of everyday life. So what happens when the your favorite celebrities aren’t behind the keyboard furiously sharing every detail of their privileged lives? Read the rest of this entry »

Last week rapper Kid Cudi came to the fork in the road and went straight, deciding to put the kibosh on both his Twitter feed and blog. Despite the recent celebrity stampede to social networking, Cudi told Rap-Up.com, “I hate the fact that you can have on one device about eight different ways for someone to contact you. If you think about it, it’s kinda creepy.” Read the rest of this entry »

Yesterday, twitterholics were given the tools to take their addiction to the next level. Users will be able to make voice calls to each using the popular microblogging service.Jajah, an IP Telephony company has just released the beta version of Jajah@call, “the twitter calling solution”. Users simply type in @call then @username to place a call to a fellow tweeter. So in theory, you would tweet @call @misssmith11 if you wanted to give me a shout on twitter. If the user is following you, you can chat with them for two minutes free of charge. There is a catch however, both users must be Jajah users to get in on the fun. Read the rest of this entry »

You don’t have to be a big name producer or a media mogul to see that things have changed in the music game. Gone are the days of spending millions to push a new artist. Music needs a new business model — stat. Read the rest of this entry »

The tension was crazy. Grammy-award winning, Houston-based rapper Chamillionaire ventured into a Twitter territory that few other hip-hop artists have entered, and those names have started with a Jay, or a Kanye or Ddddd-diddy. You know those guys. However, tonight in an incredibly strategic move Chamillionaire managed to make it to the #2 trending topic on the social network known for its micro-blogging or “tweets.” Though he didn’t stay in the #2 position long, he enjoyed the process so much he told the almost 4,000 viewers of his live stream on Justin.tv that he wanted to trend again the next day.
