NBA stars drop China 101-70 in Olympics. All-star NBA players Dwyane Wade, Kobe Bryant and Yao Ming met on Asian turf with Ming representing his homeland of China in an Olympics game that saw the U.S. win 101-70. Still, Ming enjoyed a hero’s welcome Sunday among the natives, an estimated 300 million of whom play basketball. Wade scored 19 points, LeBron James hit 18 and Bryant matched Ming’s total with 13. Tyson Gay “pretty confident” about Olympics. Sprinter Tyson Gay says he’s “injury-free” after working out in Beijing Sunday, having previously hurt his hamstring. The 100-meter and 200-meter world champ had injured the muscle during last month’s American Olympics trials. Gay had already qualified to compete in the 100 at Beijing, but suffered the hamstring mishap during the 200 trials. The runner says he’s “pretty confident” about his performance expectations for the 100-meter race for a gold medal.

Mike Tyson calls allegations of his involvement in a murder plot, which have arisen during a New York trial, “totally untrue.” But it was stated this week in the case of a getaway car driver in another murder that the ex-champ himself was also targeted for death. A witness first stated that the retired boxer tried to take out a hit on the men who allegedly killed Tyson’s bodyguard Darryl Baum in 1999 in Tyson’s old neighborhood. Now a witness in the federal case involving members of the Cash Money Brothers street gang has alleged that gang members wanted to kill Tyson after learning of the alleged hit plans. He was reportedly spared because he was a practicing Muslim at the time. A statement from Tyson reads that he is “tired of people throwing my name around.”

Ex-heavyweight champ Mike Tyson says he believes his past as a street thug and his history of making enemies will one day catch up with him. Once the most feared boxer on the planet, Tyson was recently accused in court of having tried to hire a hitman to kill the person who murdered his bodyguard years ago. “I already expect the worst to happen… I expect one day somebody’ll blow my brains out over some BS,” Tyson, 41, tells The New York Post. “No one gives a s**t about Mike Tyson. Someone accuses me of a horrible crime, others say, ‘Yeah, he’s capable of that. Mike probably did it.’”
