Teenager Struck and Killed by Six Flags Rollercoaster

June 30th, 2008

A South Carolina teenager died this weekend after he was struck and killed by a rollercoaster in Georgia’s Six Flags Amusement Park, reports The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Asia Leeshawn Ferguson, age 17, aasiand a friend scaled two fences that surrounded the Batman ride as a short cut to get back into the park Saturday afternoon, police said. Ferguson was decapitated and died instantly when the coaster hit him. Both fences, police say, were marked with warning signs, one saying “restricted area” for “authorized personnel only” and other saying “Danger zone” and “Do not enter.” “The area’s clearly defined with signs. It’s very tragic that these individuals would decide to jump over the fence. It would be hard to imagine somebody not seeing the signs and jumping two fences,” Sgt. Dana Pierce, a Cobb County Police spokesman, told reporters. The Batman Ride travels up to 50 m.p.h. Ferguson, whose family was in the park when the tragedy occurred, was in Georgia on a church trip, reports the newspaper. No one who was actually on the ride was injured in the incident. Afterward, the ride was closed to the public. It was scheduled to reopen today. This is the second fatality at the same park and on the same ride. In 2002, 58-year-old Samuel Milton Guyton was killed when he was kicked in the head by a teen girl on the Batman ride.

You know, I’m sitting here reading this story and I’m reading the comments that some people are posting and it really makes you mad when you talk about the deceased. To the people who are posting these ignorant comments, God have mercy on your souls, because the comments were disrespetful and cold blooded. Bottom line, the boy made a mistake. We all do. And he paid for it in the ultimate way; with his life. It’s very tragic and comments like that just lets you know that we are never going to make a change. And let’s not play race people, please. It’s getting a little old. Someone questioned was he high or drunk? Was this said because he was black? And then someone assumed he was white, like accidents of this nature only happen to whites. Let the race go people. Bottom line, this was tragic. I’m from down South and I was always taught to have respect for the deceased. If it was anyone else in this situation, and you son/daughter, cousin, whoever was in his position, I bet the comments would be a little different. Have some respect. I’m praying for the family and I’m also praying for the people who wrote those unthinkable comments.

R.I.P.

My heart does go out to the family, i am sorry for your loss. But why cant people realize it is this boys fault. Because he died then it likes oh well we all make mistakes??? there are some mistakes that you just dont make. common sense even in junior high will tell you not to hop not just one but 2 fences with more than one sign (i’ve seen the signs before you guys know which ones). And if its to retrive a hat that fell then they must know the ride is gonna go through that area. Thats like running accross the freeway. Im sorry but he should have known better and it is sad that someone would make a decision like this. hopefully there will never be another unfortunate death like this.

I pray for this young man’s family. People please show some respect for this man and his family. He is gone and nothing positive can come from calling his decision dumb.

When anyone makes a mistake that they must pay with for their lives is no joking matter. The questions and comments about the circumstances no longer matter. A family is burying a young man too soon. Their pain and lose of a loved one is what matters to them. Our comments be the sincere or just plain ignorant do not matter. A family is burying a young man too soon. I pray to HIM that I am buried by my children. I never want to lose any before I am gone. No parent does no matter the circumstances.

My heart goes out to this young man’s family. Yes he did make a mistake as we all do but to say that he was stupid is just dead wrong. Use common sense how may times have you did something that you know you wasn’t suppose. Dont be so quick to say this is what he deserve this could be anybody’s brother your brother your son right now. May god be with the family and keep them string in there time of grief

It is sad, but true. Most kids who do this kind of stuff often be white. But some black folks following in the same activities. Just like the DC sniper terror. We all swore up and down it was a white man. Even the white media agreed it was a white man. But that shows you, race does not matter anymore.

I MUST SAY THAT IM PRAYING AND FEELING THE LOST RIGHT NOW FOR THE FAMILY BUT IM OVERJOYED AT ANOTHER ADDITION TO HEAVEN!

PEOPLE LET US LEARN FROM THIS “WATCH YOUR KIDS” AS MUCH AS YOU CAN AND TEACH THEM TO BE CAREFUL AND VERY THOUGHTFUL FOR WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES AND IM NOT SAYING HIS PARENTS DIDNT TEACH HIM, BUT LET US ALWAYS DO OUR BEST WITH OUR KIDS I CANT EVEN TYPE RIGHT NOW IM SO UPSET MAY GOD BLESS

To Deez,
We clearly understand the young man chose to climb the fence but you seem to want to stress it too much. The reason why he did it should no longer matter. A child was taken way too early and we as understanding parents should find remorse in our hearts and uplift the family who has suffered a loss. Rest in peace young soul. And to the parents, friends and family I send you my deepest condolences.

God bless him and his family. But the real reason I am writing is to ask if Sharonda isn’t really a homosexual 45year old white man who writes the most ignorant things to insult the black people who post here????!!!!

MONA, WHATS YOUR IQ?

James Said on

My deepest sympathies go out to the family, but WHY ON EARTH would someone cross into the restricted area when there are warning signs all around?? And even if there weren’t any signs, surely he should have realized that two 6 foot fences around the perimeter mean “keep out!”.

Mona, please seek GOD.Spend your time around someone that can actually effect your life in a positive way, because you have obviously been surrounded by ignorance.
