The fact is racism still exists and it stares us in the face everyday. I have Tourette Syndrome, and there are alot of people in the world out here who still don’t know nothing or very little about people who have Tourette Syndrome. I live in the hood,so use your imagination of what goes on in my hood just like any other hood. Its only one way in and one way out. Sorry to continue with th but his issue is I just want to pick were I. This kind of situation has happened to numerous African Americans, can happen to anyone (no pun intended) and still goes on today in crazy world we live in today.A year ago I was spit on by a white man at the bus stop in front of my neighborhood. I’m sitting on a green park bench waiting for the bus, when this old rusty primer painted pick up truck was coming up the Western Avenue. 3 white males sitting side by side were inside the single cab pick up truck. As they got closer the thedriver of the truck slowed down his speed. The 3rd white gentleman/redneck sitting by the right passenger side window, rolled down his window just to spit on me. I had a nasty loogie on my shirt. They never stop, they speed up Western Avenue and keep on going. There has been times when I would be riding my moutain bike around Knoxville were various people driving there vehicles would call me the N-word, throw stuff at me, holler at me, run me off the road, while passing by. I know what its like, i’ve worked with racial folks . There are folks here Knoxville who don’t have a problem with some black folks or the ones that are ignorant, get drunk, high, waste there life who don’t have any common sense, and/or dont want nothing out of life. If your intelligent, educated, decent, have some common sense and they don’t like you and/or want anything to do with you.But i also believe that my fellow African Americans still need to get it together too. We need to fight issues like this, raise awareness, And Race is not just a factor here in Knoxville TN its like that in other small cities, counties, towns in the State of TN, as well as majority of the States in the South that deal with racial issues like this more than the Northern states do. You see what happend to my fellow African American brother,Mr. William Mckay (R.I.P.) was murdered on his way to work. Issues like this is still relevan in 2008.The South is were alot of slavery to place Look at how my fellow African Americans didn’t receive instant help during Hurricane Katrina, the same goes for when hurricane Gustav and IKE.
