Unlike Her Former Boss, Detroit Mayor’s Aide Will Face Trial
September 16th, 2008Unlike her former boss, Detroit mayor’s aide will face trial. The woman who was largely forgotten as Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick grabbed headlines for resigning from office is headed to trial. Less than two weeks after Kilpatrick accepted a plea to do four months in jail, probation and repay the city $1 million, his former chief of staff Christine Beatty has turned down a similar deal. Kilpatrick and Beatty were both charged with perjury and misconduct in office after the pair fired and disciplined cops whose investigation may have exposed an extra-marital affair between the two officials. Beatty rejected an offer on Monday that would’ve let her serve 150 days in jail, repay $125,000, and receive five years of probation in exchange for a plea to lesser charges. The monetary aspects of the plea stem from Kilpatrick’s civil settlement with the cops, which cost the city over $8 million. Beatty’s trial is set to begin late this month. She could face no less than 10 years in prison if convicted.

Save the taxpayers money and accept her punishment and avoid jail.
Ms. Beatty has always maintained an superior attitude throughout this whole insult. When she was asked was she having an affair with the mayor she arrogantly rolled her big eyes, like she was saying you gotta kiddiing with him! I bet Mrs. Kilpatrick won’t miss this one.

She has a right to a trial, so be it. Why take a deal if she feels she is not guilty of the charges? To cop out is to admit guilt. Women are fighters and she has the fight in her.

I live in Detroit. This has been a nightmare. One day I’m for him next day I’m against him her too. If he had just admitted there was a party; we would have forgiven him, stuff happens. I still don’t know. It’s so hard seeing a blk man and woman hit the dust. But then again, we still don’t know if the stripper lost her life as a resort of all of this. God help us all, for we know not what we do.

Who killed Tamara Greene (the stripper)? What about her family? I don’t give a phuck if the Detroit mayor cheated on his wife with his aide! I care about if he had the Detroit police kill Tamara? She was more than a stripper, not just a statistic; somebody loved her, she was a mother, a daughter, a friend and she deserves some respect and some consideration too. Just because a person is a stripper doesn’t mean they are worthless. Get real people! Some women stripped to make money for college, to support kids, etc… That doesn’t make them trash or worthless!
