Venus, Serena Williams Knocked Out of Olympics Singles Competition
August 15th, 2008Sisters are knocked out of Olympics singles, Blake advances.
Not only won’t Venus and Serena Williams have a one-on-one title rematch in the Olympics, neither will compete for a medal. After saying earlier this week that a tennis singles showdown to follow their Wimbledon face-off would be “fantastic,” Venus and her sister both lost quarter-finals match-ups Thursday in Beijing. Venus, who won Wimbledon, fell to China’s Li Na, while Serena lost to Russia’s Elena Dementieva. The sisters can still capture a gold in doubles competition as they did at the 2000 Games in Sydney. While the siblings were upset, James Blake did some upsetting when he beat Roger Federer in straight sets. Blake moves on, leaving Federer two titles shy of Pete Sampras’ record of 12.

I think they did it on purpose. I think that it was unfair for them to play against each other and maybe they rebelled against them for that. But at any rate I am glad that two black sisters are still in the game.
The Williams sisters are still doing what they love, getting paid, and living la vida loca..so what if they don’t get 1 more n under their belt. We still love them. However,their loss is not as importnt as the loss of our beloved brother- BERNIE MAC!!!! His love,humor, realness, and humility will never be forgotten…
P.S. Sharonda, I don’t know how old you are, how you’ve been raised, or what your social upbringing is but PLEASE turn the notch down on the RACIAL tones…We deal with enough already, and your views and opinions are unwarranted.. Stop using this forum to hate so much..If you loved yourself and your BLACK people so much you would encourage not discourage!!! Sharonda you need to go onto another site to talk all that mess this is whats wrong with the world as soon as African-Americans break into a Sport where there hasnt been many blacks people (white) always has something negative to say these sister are the best in tennis and people always have something negative to say about them i think they are 2 positive black women and role models you cant win every game you play and i think they play a wonderful game.
