Vick Will Debut Tonight in Philly

When the Philadelphia Eagles take the field against the Jacksonville Jaguars tonight, fans – as well as the anti-fans – will witness the second coming of Michael Vick. Word is, dog lovers will throw a tailgate party for the “2nd Chance Dogs campaign to put a spotlight on the dogfighting scourge and to prompt folks to adopt formerly abused pit bulls. As this group’s members are happy to point out, these canines, like Vick, deserve another chance. Ever since the Eagles announced that it had signed Vick, following an 18-month stint in federal prison for dogfighting, the critics have been out in force. The City of Brotherly Love is no place for the three-time Pro Bowl quarterback, who committed such egregious acts of cruelty at his Bad Newz Kennels in Virginia, the critics claim. And the fact that the speedy, lefty provides the Super Bowl-starved team with another weapon in the battle for a championship is immaterial, argue opponents like Sue Cosby, chief executive of the SPCA. “As a lot of people have pointed out, (Vick’s) animals never got a second chance,” Cosby said. “We need to speak for them.” It only remains to be seen whether others will follow through with a promised boycott of the Eagles – and whether it would have any impact if they did. Meanwhile, the NAACP and Black Clergy of Philadelphia are planning protests of their own. Both groups contend that Vick has paid his debt to society and deserves an opportunity to work in his profession, which happens to be an NFL quarterback.

I think that this is awesome, I am not a philly fan but I will watch the game tonight. If God can forgive him and he has done his time for the crime. Why can’t we forgive the man, we as a people take things to far. Go Vick.
Look the man has done his time and a second chance is in order! I am an animal lover but people take pets to be human.When we care more for pets than children there is a serious problem. People abuse children all the time and get less time than Vick!! I believe this is truly about race! So Vick hold your head-up while your thanking GOD for being BLESSED! Why are so many people hating on MV? The man has paid his debt to society, and some of you still want more..why? We give those that are in the political sector chance after chance and they are still in office. Some of the biggest crimminals are hidding behind big business and our government. We give those that have taken the life of another man another chance why? We even give our falling relgious leaders another chance, why not MV? Why are you trying to us MV as a poster child?

Philly is getting a good player and should appreciate it. There are worst crimes being commited in the world everyday and no one goes to jail. Stop crucifying Mike Vick. The Panthers lost out and I’m not surprised because the issue with Vic k is more about race than animal rights and the Panthers are in the south where race matters a lot. Also, didn’t the Panthers spawn Ray Curruth; that twisted animal who killed his pregnant girlfriend because he didn’t want to pay child support?
