‘Vigilante’ Inmate Murder Probe Widens

FBI and Maryland officials join forces to determine how the Maryland inmate died.

The “vigilante justice” case of a Maryland cop-killer suspect who was found strangled to death in his cell has expanded to include everybody working at the D.C.-area jail. Initially, authorities announced that seven corrections officers who had access to Ronnie White were under investigation for the 19-year-old inmate’s death. White, who was held in solitary confinement, was discovered in his cell Sunday with two broken bones in his neck; he died from asphyxiation and strangulation, according to a Maryland medical examiner. Two days prior, White had been arrested and charged in the hit-and-run death of Prince George’s County police Cpl. Richard Findley. According to police, White, who was driving a stolen truck, struck the officer, who tried to flag the vehicle down. Prince George’s County Chief Executive Jack Johnson, who described White’s death as a case of “vigilante justice,” said that the suspect’s apparent payback killing is inexcusable. “The killing of the officer is absolutely abhorrent, but also, Mr. White was presumed innocent and deserved his day in court just like any other citizens,” Johnson said. “We live in a constitutional democracy, and no one has the right to be judge and jury.” The FBI, which is working with Maryland State Police, said Tuesday that all 630 staffers at the Prince George’s County Correctional Center will be part of the investigation. Several guards have said they will not talk to investigators, according to Ramon Korionoff, a spokesman for Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Glenn Ivey. “The family of Ronnie White is absolutely, unequivocally outraged, incensed and deeply saddened that the life of their loved one could be taken so cold[ly], so callously,” attorney Bobby Henry told reporters Tuesday. “Something is dreadfully wrong with the system.”

It doesn’t matter whether there is an investigation and a trial because the police will be found NOT GUILTY. Several high profile cases have proven that police in America have a license to kill blacks (especially if they have a criminal record or are suspected of a crime). I know that UMLAW and/or his buddy Big Chocolate will be on later posting that if blacks did not commit 90% of the violent crimes in America this would not happen (or some other equally ridiculous BS). But what happened to “INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY”??

A another good example of law enforcement,DOC staff, security guards, etc taking matters into their own hands. This is a prime example why we need to have some agency or organization who is watching the folks thats watching the everyday citizen whether in jail, hospitals. Perhaps they should install video cameras in those areas.

And I agree with you. We need someone to watch the so called “Top Dogs” of all these law enforcement agencies. They are to uphold the law, yet they take the law into their own hands. Here in New Orleans, a white Tulane Univ. student struck and killed an officer (I believe a retired police officer turned campus police officer), and drug the officer several feet before stopping and then decided to go home. The student later got the vehicle fixed in order to cover up the crime. Guess what? He was drunk and everything else; but he got off ( he got simple time in a boot camp facility). No one took matters into their own hands with him, so why should they have in this case.
P.S.,
A couple of years before this incident, the student’s brother committed the same horrific “accident”.

If the young man was guilty, he deserved his day in court. I am sorry for the families of the slain officer, and for this man’s family because I know they are both grieving their losses. But this is exactly the kind of behavior that cannot be tolerated in a department that is supposed to uphold the law, not be the very ones committing the crimes. They may think they are better than the criminals but in reality they ARE the criminals. They should all be sent to jail. There are seven officers involved–if the pressure is maintained, one of them will talk. It is up to the citizens to make sure that this does not fade into obscurity; those in charge would love for this to just go away in order to protect their brethren. They might talk tough, and declare that “the guilty MUST be punished” but don’t think for a minute that they aren’t looking for a loophole. It’s a good thing that the FBI is involved–hopefully they will get results quickly.

THe GOONSQUAD is what they are called over there at PG County Jail, in Upper Marlboro, MD.
My husband was a victim of them, a few years ago. They have about 6 or 7 Correctional Officers come in and just for no reason, rough these men up.
In the late 70’s they did the same thing to Terrence Johnson, as well as so many other’s. It just didn’t get to the point of the other victims dying.
You’d better bet, former inmates about to start talking NOW!!! Sad that this young Bro lost his life…..Black Men Speak Up in Regards to this INJUSTICE!!!!! and GET YOUR MONEY…..LAW SUITES

Talk about dumb & ignorant!!!! DId these CO’s really think they’d get away with this??? Hello, he was in solitary confinement, who else would have access to him? I say fire them all and lock them up with the commons….Then they can see what it’s really like in there.
