Actually the laws were in place at the founding of our country. It is the Constitution of the US Article 1. To be president you have to be a Natural Born Citizen which means both your mother and father have to be citizens and you have to born on US soil. This has nothing to do with how many generations your famile has been here.

The law is in place to protect someone with “mixed allegiance” from taking the office of president. As you may know there is a Supreme Case right now that claims that John McCain and Barrack Obama are not illegible to be president because they are not natural born citizens– see the Constitution for details.

That is what this is all about… and if it is true it is possible that both McCain and Obama ran for president knowing they were not eligible… you could say they are “testing” the constitution to see if the laws will stand… now you may think that the laws are wrong… and you entitled to do so. But if true both of them tried to fool the AMerican people. So if Obama would show his birth certificate and not have an army of lawyers trying to prevent it we would know. That’s what this is all about: the constitution. Break it, cheat it, and there is not much to stand on… anything goes if the constitution can be subverted.

What next? Let history take its course!!!

I think what is going on is a failure of someone’s life who cant realize the difference between a Chosen Man and a Man that has to steal an election. First, I am an American. I’m black. I was born and live in the South. Not all southerners voted for the President-elect as you know by the red and blue map of the US on election night but the south is not all racist and all racists are not white. So please correct that fact now. I agree with the majority of the authors of the comments; however, I do understand the need for the President of the US to be native born. In this case, it appears the President-Elect was born in Hawaii in 1961 approx 2 years after Hawaii became a state of an American citizen (Kansas born). The problem that the naysayers have is that the original birth certificate (b/c) has not been seen. Nothing unusal, my daughter are in their 20’s, we’ve moved several times during their lives so we have had to replace their certified b/c’s and the new b/c’s are produced by computers but certified and legal just the same. Honestly, I am an Obama fan and campaigned for him vigorously but to cut all this short. . .IF the original birth certificate is available, DISCLOSE it and IF NOT, produce all the information you have (Dr., Hospital, and attending nurse if you can) and let’s get to the business of governing the grand ole United States and getting it out of the gutter from the past 8 years! BTW, if you did your homework, they are questioning McCain’s citizenship too because he was a military brat and was not born on US soil.

Actually the 3 requirements to be president are: 35 years old, 14 years a US citizen and natural born citizen (NBC). NBC is being born of two US citizen parens on US soil. By that McCain is not eligible and he likely knew that. Obama is not eligible and as a Constituitonal lawer he also likely knew it. In fact I’m very confident both candidates knew exactly what they were doing and they both were NOT eligible. Native born is not defined in the Constitution. But I agree with you show your BC or whatever you have on file in Hawaii. Open up your records at Harvard, Occidental, and Columbia all of which are locked down. What passports do you hold? He is withholding this also and there are rumors he holds an Indonesian passport. While let everyone speculate if you are committing fraud? Why take all the people who believe in you only to maybe find out you lied. it costs about $10 to have a bc released and he is spending nearly a million dollars and 3 teams of lawyers to prevent Americans from know who he is. In fact he is required to prove he is eligible and yet he is trying to use legal blocks and technicalities to prevent this from becoming an issue.
