White House Reaction Fast And Furious To Bush Loyalist’s Scathing Book

In his new book, Scott McClellan, chief 
spokesperson for the Bush White House from 2003 until he was forced out last year, says the Bush administration was “out of touch” and mishandled the response to Hurricane Katrina, which devastated New Orleans and other Gulf Coast communities. He also said the administration played a little loose with the truth about the Iraq War, and that he was lead to “lie” about the Valeria Plame CIA scandal.Those are just a few of the claims McClellan makes in his controversial new book, “What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington’s Culture of Deception,” which has rocked the White House and has tongs wagging in Washington. In his book, which is officially not to be released until Monday, McClellan writes that Katrina was mostly a story of misunderstood good intentions, since the White House felt that local and federal agencies could keep the devastation in check. But he adds that the White House was “out of touch,” with the reality on the ground. Further, McClellan writes that he was “encouraged to repeat a lie,” when he publically denied that vice presidential aide Scooter Libby was involved in the outing of CIA undercover operative Plame. He also calls the Iraq war a “strategic blunder,” and that the adminstration used a “political propaganda campaign” to sell the war. White House reaction was fast and furious. President Bush was said to be “disappointed” in McClellan, and current press secretary Dana Perino said in reaction Wednesday, “the Scott we now know is disgruntled…“ While others criticized his book as a publicity stunt, and said he must have been forced by publishers to write what he wrote, McClellan defended his work on NBC’s Today show this morning. “… I felt it was important to look back and reflect on my experience… to learn from it,” he said. Was he disgruntled or trying to set the record straight?

He said on TV this morning that it is time the White house was held accountable for its actions and that it is really time for a change in government. He sounded like he was truly backing OBAMA because he mentioned him a couple of times saying that he is about change and that is what we need. I believe Mr McClellan is true to him self. They always want to use the word DISGRUNTLED when they are caught in a lie. Cant you just see the script writers now…LOL
I am happy to read all of the previous comments before mine that was not focused on anger toward a white man for finally telling us the truth. Knowledge hit it on the head people. Our country is in a RECESSION!!! We need to stop buying worthless products, stock up on can goods and water, and do not spend a dime. You can’t be mad, people are dumb, it’s just sometimes they don’t have all the facts, he’s just telling us something that we already suspected, because we all felt the affect of hurricane Katrina, even though we did not live in those states

The boy had some nerve, WOW! It took a lot to write this book and tell all the “secrets” about Bush and this administration. He knew the attack he was going to get and he is getting it from all sides with both feet. But as he said, he had to tell the country the truth. The truth will set you free and that is what he wanted, freedom. This man told it all and bless him for doing it. Now watch all the devil advocates try to discreit his name. But hopefully he will have some TRUE friends who will stick by him.
I do not believe this man is lying about the things in his book. What you are seeing from the White House staff now is their typical two-step around the truth. They are going to attempt to get the public to think this man is disgruntled and will attempt to discredit him. If other’s close to the President did the same thing I am will to bet the stories will match his. That is if the people will be honest.

I believe that Scott McClellan is telling the truth. I do not believe it is a political stunt. We all have been hearing about how the Bush government handles issues but the difference now is that Mr. McClellan has actually been a big part of the Bush Administration and has made our opinions of the administration a little more clear. The last person that has written a book was William Cooper “Behold a Pale Horse” and in that book it told about how the United States mishandled issues at that time. I am very happy that he wrote this book and best believe I will be purchasing it so i can know what truly happened these last 2 terms.
This book only confirms what we already knew, hearing a blaitant lye come from a liar is nothing new. I still think that Bush should be impeached though, that would be better than this book…
He may be a little bit of both, but who cares either way. At least he is letting what he knows to be the truth out
