White Trooper Says He Had to Run Over a Black Suspect

White trooper says he had to run over a Black suspect.
A White South Carolina state trooper accused of deliberately running down a Black suspect with his cruiser says the crash was “an unavoidable accident.” (See the video for yourself) As for bragging later that he hit the suspect on purpose, Lance Corporal Steven Garren says he regrets doing that, The Associated Press reports. Garren is facing federal charges of depriving suspect Marvin Grant of his civil rights. In a video of the collision, Garren is heard telling a deputy he was “trying to hit” his suspect. He says while he did make the statement, it wasn’t true and that it was “dumb” and “stupid” to do so, AP reports. Garren’s trial is the first of two federal civil rights cases to come from a spate of police videos that showed questionable tactics by South Carolina troopers (see here). The videos have drawn scrutiny from the NAACP and the state’s Legislative Black Caucus, which helped bring the tapes to the public’s attention.
This is truely sad. I can’t believe that he would fix his mouth to say that and then apologize for it. The apology can’t bring the man back to this earth. He is truely wrong. I just hope that he doesn’t get off like these other cops have. It would really be something if he did.
Police do this all of the time in the black community. What else is new? Timothy Thomas, Roger Owensby, Sean Bell, Lorenzo Collins are a few black men who paid the ultimate price because of rogue coward cops. They don’t care about anyone in the black neighborhoods.
Yes police do this all the time in the Black Community, and yes they have done worse, but why is this person committing a crime and taking someone else car. I am glad the car was recovered, and even more glad that the thief was caught by what ever means necessary. Our Black Community needs to take a more active role in putting our young people in check before we lose this generation to far worse things like jail and gang violence. This may be a blessing for this misguided youth, and hopefully GOD will be merciful in his life, but the Police officer did the right thing here, because I probably would have done the same thing if it were up to me to make a difference.
He lied and said he didn’t do it on purpose when he really did. He should be hit with a car by the same person he hit!!! He should also have his badge stripped and get jail time!!!
It actually looks to me like the suspect unintentionally ran into the car. But, the Trooper admitted to his fellow Trooper, he wanted to hit him on purpose.

Blacks have come a very long way, however racisim is not going anywhere. As long as you have a White Government, racisim will continue and there is nothing that one Black man (Obama) can do about it. Should it surprise any race if this cop gets off?

Hopefully someone in SC will hold the right person’s feet to the fire but this state trooper needs to have his behind cut (backwoodz style)…by the judicial system!

At least he’s facing federal charges. Whether or not he feels guilty about bragging, saying he meant to run over him. He said it and did it, he has to face the consequences. Im in school for criminal justice and I do hope more action is taken with police comming over power trips or getting off on some of their actions. When anyone else would definately be serving some time, since they have a badge, they think that makes them immune to rules of the law. Happens way to much.
No more horrible than black on black crimes. Killing one another left and right. Where’s NAACP, Black Caucas?
Greeting from South Carolina public school system rank 45 out of 50. Home of two Republican Senator’s and a Republican Governor. Mosted of the state is Rural/Country. Except for a few Interstate highway(s) it looks the same. None of the big names in entertainment has ever came here are look this way. Everything goes to Atlanta are Charlotte. John McCain is very popular here but lately a lot of white people are looking toward Obama.

No offense to the NAACP or National Black Caucus for bringing these videos to light, but, I saw these comedies years ago on Spike TV. This sh*t happens everyday, just in a different part of the United States. The cop’ll walk with a wrist-slap.
When are people going to get over this racism and treat one another with love, compassion and respect? What in the world is going on?
