Charles “Chuckie” Taylor tortured West Africans. The son of ex-Liberian dictator Charles Taylor faces possible life in prison on torture and related charges at his sentencing today. Charles McArthur “Chuckie” Taylor, 31, was found guilty of committing the crimes that were connected with summary executions while he helped lead his dad’s anti-terrorist programs between 1997 and 2003. The Boston-born Taylor’s trial is the first under a 1994 US law that allows prosecution of American nationals to be charged with torture outside the U.S.Aid worker gunned down in Somalia.

A World Food Program (WFP) worker was gunned down by unknown killers in Somalia Thursday, reports CNN. Mohamud Omar Moallim, 49, was giving food to displaced people outside of Mogadishu when he was attacked. The gunmen initially took Moallim’s body with them as they escaped the scene in a vehicle. They then pushed his corpse out and drove away, said program spokesman Peter Smerdon.  Moallim initially worked for WFP in the 90’s as a logistics assistant before coming back to become a food monitor in 2006. He survived an abduction last September where he was held for 16 hours. He leaves behind two wives and 11 children. The killing marks the second murder of a WFP worker in just three days. Ibraim Hussein Duale, a Somali who worked for WFP, was shot and killed by masked gunmen Tuesday as he was monitoring food distribution.
