World: Yet Another Vicious Storm Barrels Toward Caribbean; Man Arrested Overseas For Celebrating Obama’s Win

Yet another vicious storm barrels toward Caribbean. After suffering multiple storms this season, Caribbean islands are turning a watchful eye to the latest storm scheduled to hit named Paloma, reports the BBC. In particular, the northern portion of the Caribbean, including Jamaica, is getting ready for the storm’s effects. Cuba, Haiti and the Bahamas are also likely to be hit if the storm stays on its path. The storm could turn into a hurricane Friday. Paloma, the 16th tropical storm this hurricane season, comes in the last month of the season which had been predicted to be quite busy. Haiti was one of the countries in the Caribbean hit hard by four consecutive storms earlier this season, which devastated some of the nation’s infrastructure and left thousands homeless and hungry.

Man arrested overseas for celebrating Obama’s win. One New-York based Grenadian’s excitement over President-elect Barack Obama’s historic victory got him in some big trouble. Police in Grenada arrested Roy Coutain Wednesday, charging him with disorderly behavior, obscene language and resisting arrest, reports the BBC. Police say that after Obama’s win, Coutain drove through the streets of the nation’s capital, St. George, honking his horn, continually shouting “Obama, Obama!” in a car draped with American flags, police say. He was also caught on video telling officers that they didn’t want him to celebrate, that the world was excited and that he had the right to celebrate since he voted for Obama. Coutain says he did not use any obscene language.

While the world celebrates and revels in America’s historic moment! The win of President Elect Obama. Grenada denies a man of his right to bask in this exciting moment shame on them, what they should stand up for they don’t. Am from St. Vincent and the Grenadines and am all for my Caribbean Islands but this time they just wrong it is shameful.

Yolanda that was a foolish comment. You are making it sound like it is ok for someone to go around disrespecting a country’s laws because they are American. I can surely understand that he was extremely excited, and that some of his excitement could bubble over. However, I am very very sure that if it was the other way around (a Grenadian running around a big city in the USA shouting and carrying on) you would have a totally different thing to say. Please understand I am not condemning the man for his actions (I may have done the same thing) but you are making yourself sound ignorant.

I think we all need to know the whole truth to this story . there are many sides to a story and unless we know the entire truth we would all be speculating on the matter….. am from grenada and am really ashame of how that man was treated. and i also heard an interview with him on one of the local radio station and as he said i think we need to also stop people from honking their horns on weeding occassions……. i understand that there are laws to be carried out but you always have exceptions…………………… if it was someone being attacted in their home would the police office be so readily to go and assist….. just think about it and to everyong else who are making comments try and get hold of that interview and maybe the video that was shown on the news and you may thing differently………………………… obama obama its liberation for all blacks and we should all enjoy it ……………………………

sure, rejoice because obama won the presidency, but do it in a way that doesnt offend the nations laws.that man made himself into a hot mess, and he must learn to respect others instead of wreaking havock and causing trouble, belam and mayhem.i dont agree with putting him in the jail but he should have known better!i am from grenada and i still dont know the whole story,so until we do,we cant really know who was right and who was wrong.
