I expect Zimbabwe is being played by China. America was concerned about the human rights issues in Zimbabwe. China has none of those concerns and is in fact only interested in the minerals they can get out of Africa. This isn’t good for anyone in Zimbabwe in the long run. The citizens stay under Mugabe and Mugabe’s regime eventually will have to pay up to China with a massive return (I’ve heard as much as 50% on top of the loan).
