Obama Losing Ground?

Do you think Obama can win the nomination?

Read and respond.

Aug. 7, 2007 – In a poll released today, Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) is falling further behind his chief rival, Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Democratic Debate

  What’s going on?

The poll taken by USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds Clinton’s lead over the Illinois senator has risen 8 percent in the last three weeks.  Clinton is now 22 percentage points ahead with 48 percent of likely Democratic voters thinking she is the better choice.
Obama has been getting some flack from pundits since he remarking in the last Democratic debate that he would speak with leaders who are known enemy’s of the United States. But I don’t think that’s the only reason for his falling numbers.

Let’s face it; his numbers were rising as he became better known. Now folks are deciding if he’s the candidate for them.  It’s early in the race, and poll numbers will continue to go up and down whenever candidates say something compelling or stumble.

The latest numbers should be a wake-up call for Obama’s team.  He’s out there, and he’s got to start running without the “rock-star” status and the mystique that surrounded him when he first stepped onto the national scene.

Clinton also realized that he’s the man to beat, and she’s being more forceful against her opponents, including Obama.  Now we’ll have to see how Obama will fight back.

Mark Penn, Clinton’s chief strategist, told USA Today, “People are seeing her as the one ready to be president.”

Obama’s spokesman, Bill Burton, said, “National polls may go up and down before people actually start voting, but their irrelevance will not.”

Both candidates are heading to Las Vegas this week to speak at the convention of the National Association of Black Journalists.  I’ll be there and along with my colleagues to hear what they have to say.

I’ll keep you posted.

I sure hope the Republicans are not behind pumping up Obama by giving him contributions and making him think a Black man can be a US President thus putting him in the position to loose and another Republican getting elected in the White House in ‘08. Sounds far fetched but since the Bush administration, nothing these people do suprises me anymore.Id o not think the US is ready for a Black President! They would vote for Hillary first!

I think the americans are too much conservative than what the world can imagine of them as democratic or liberal. The USA is not yet and will never be ready to have a Black President in the white house.I have seen and listened to Hilarie’s speeches, and she preaches white supremacy… those blacks who still believe that she will be as here husband used to be, are mistaken. This lady is ambitious, tenacious and racist inside. In Obama, the USA and the world would change for the more constructive future and peace. Just listen to them all, Obama is more genuine, and does not seek applause, however, HC, when she notices that people are not really interested in what she’s saying, she’ll try end her words by pulling up populist tone to get the applause. This is called demagogy. She is doing all she can to destroy Obama, and with the support of Republican and some nut blacks. This is the time for Blacks to go out and back their man, you’re 45.millions you can bring about change….

You folks (and you know who you are) need to get off the plantation. Black, white, or both, it’s plain to see that Barack has all it takes to win this election. Keep watching the polls! OBAMA O8

I believe Hillary will win the nomination and the election. The vice presidency is Obama’s if he wants it. I think he should take it. He will then become because Hillary will have to resign,
because her husband cannot keep his hands to himself…..

i dont think he will get elected ,obama that is .and it wont be because he is black it will be because he is not what we need black white or otherwise and neither does hillary for that matter . people should think for themselves . the idea that we should back him or anyother individual because of ethnic makeup, is just as racist as blacks cry bigorty on every turn . here is a thought ,vote for someone who will protect this nation and look out for the interests of this nation first and foremost.not make promises and certainly not make promises that only the collective of congress and other governmental bodies can change.hillary wont win ,neither will obama. not because he is black and she is a woman . but simply the majority of voters.. all voters ..can see beyond his race and her gender and discount them on their empty words period . and do you think another republican will make all our lives awful? come on people who is running congress now ??? the democrats right ?? nonetheless we can continue on complaining and when the time comes do exactly what we charge whites with ,vote our color line and how far has that gotten us in our own neighborhoods??? one question who is your alderman? is he or she black and how does your neighborhood look ?? the answer, that is how far politics has gotten our supposed support for our people. for once elect someone who will do the job best think in terms of the end result not emotional attachment to race and or gender. we are focused on the wrong things not what is good for all americans.but i suppose that is why our issues here are so multifaceted we dont see the big picture.one nation period. vote that way for once people!!

I think that Mr Obama has not only what it takes to be elected president but he is going to be the Democrat nominee at the end of the day( as we are discussing this step). Remember Howard Dean the Democrat front runner during the 2004 presidential election? If I remember correctly he was predicted by polls and the media to be the Democrat presidential nominee yet, unfortunatelly,he ended up loosing the nomination to John Kerry. Therefore, I believe that this is what is going to happen to Clinton. She will be defeated by Obama just like Howard Dean was by John Kerry. The reason why HC is leading in some polls is very simple:The media and those who are making the polls are Hc inclined. Those individuals are not without prejudices. I have to allude to this simply to point out that despite what some people might think, in America there is still prejudice, inequality and racism.Folks dont need to attend Harvard to get this straight. In closing, I strongly encourage black men and women to sopport Obama and acknowledge the fact the he is very credible, articulate, intelligent, post graduate, author, husband, father, charismatic man who re[present hope and change. In a word, the man has what it takes to be the next president!

Ho, what a great analysis, by Y’Obegue!!! Just like that. It might look like Obama is losing ground today, but have the folks questioned themselves who has been doing these polls’s statistics, and whom they are asking although americans of course, but in which areas… Well, I am no american, nor do I live in the USA, but nevertheless, still am very interested in changes that might occure there. Because they will have significante impact in the whole world, especially in my dearly loved Africa. People think, by asking black folks to go out massively to back Barack is a racist appeal, that’s ridiculous and nosens… I think this is the very very rare opportunity that a black presidential candidate has a very significante support from all American ethnic backgrounds, and this should be for black folks to push harder behind their man. You have had many white candidates bad and good, but what positive changes have they brought to your community? certainly nill or very least… so why would it be a problem if one of yours fails to bring about change that you would eagerly expect from him? It is paramount that black folks particularly and all americans understand that the time has come for that country to have a bright young intelectual and thoughtful president, who would make them proud. Right now the USA is going downhill… the country has its influence of a leading Nation over the world. China is taking rapidly over… what China is doing in the third world is just unbelievably great achievements… building infrastructures, and soon they will start providing education and health care locally to those poor countries. Although these activities are based on inter- exchange agreements signed by China and those countries… something very simple that the USA should have done for long time ago… but failed because of their leadership’s arrogance and greed. But Great GOD has seen enough of injustice,.. and is about to withdraw His leading power from the USA… however, for once more, as He never manifested His wrath without warning priorly, He has brought to America this young bright man OBAMA. Still americans have not yet heard the call… wake up America…. choose OBAMA, tenworld will be safe.//JJB from the UK

People need to forget the race, gender and bipartisan issue. If the people (the voters) really pick the next president, they had better do so carefully. The Bush administration has done more than any other president to destroy this country. I believe this country can have a Black president - but Obama is NOT the one. Alan Keyes - yes; Obama NO! Research Obama’s stand on illegal immigration. His is the same as Hillary, Rudy, McCain and some others. The Bush regime is on a fast track to the North American Union via SPP, NAFTA, CAFTA, illegal immigration, outsourcing, free trade, Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST). As serious and important as the above issues are, the news rarely touches them. Praise God for the internet and talk radio so you can be in the know. The next president will either uphold the U.S. and the Constitution or put the nail in the coffin.

Hillary Clinton says it’s OK to lie if you want to win the race of becoming the amrican president. That’s hypocritical, isn’t it???
” you can think big, but you cannot say all when you run for usa president…”" something like that. Hooo my gosh, that’s just the begining, she’s not won anything yet, still she has the audacity to acknowledge that it’s better not to tell the people all the truth… how much lie will it be when she becomes usa president!!! USA THINK!!!!,

We do’nt support black business or politians, this is one of the reason why we do’nt have a strong economical base. This why we have to work for whity, buy whity homes, buy whity goods an services an this why they still control us an everything else. So lets stop putting down those who are trying change these old picture. Obama is trying to take us to the next level in our progression in America; and some of us are afraid of real change; some want to stay slaves, beause whity is taking so good care of us! Wake-up people; its time to grow-up and stand-up and represent what is right for us as black people an Americans. Remember under Bill Clinton(Supposely First Black President-what a joke);he buildt more federal prison than any other president in American history, and who’s in those prisons; young black men, they should be in college. So when are we going to support our own people. We have let whity put us in a box by letting tell us, to support our own is racist! When other ethic groups support their own(jews, mexicans, japanese, etc.)so what wrong with us supporting Obama for President and all our black business,I think the reason why we do’nt its envy! Some black hate to see other black doing better than we are! Look at education of our children; we teach them to be thugs instead of teaching them them to read and wright; we spend more on clothing than eduation. Obama is the presidential example I want our children to look up too as a black man; if not then how can we say our children that you can become anything in America but president. If whity is’nt ready for a black president; then its our job to show them why America is ready!

    EVERYONE…. DON’T BELIEVE THE HYPE!!!

    BARACK HAS A REAL SHOT.

    Check it out…
1: National polls at this stage don’t matter none. Only pay attention to the first primary and caucus states: Iowa, South Carolina, New Hampshire, and Nevada. Remember the voting process is state by state, and the primaries have a dominoe effect because they happen gradually. Obama is in 1st or tied for the lead in each of these states. Believe it… This is the hushed up truth. Check any of these states’ polls.

    Iowa:

    New Hampshire:

    South Carolina:
    http://americanresearchgroup.com/pres08/scdem8-706.shtml

2: White folks will vote for the man. He is the ONE. In every poll where he is matched up against a republican, one on one, he dominates them. Hillary does well, but doesn’t come close to how well Barack does. After Bush, this country is ready for a major change.

    Check out the match ups:
    http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/national.html

3: The only thing that I believe can get in the way of Barack sitting in the Oval Office is not getting black folks to support him. This time it’s real. Faded hopes from the past and synical eyes are hard to overcome, but this is the chance. Times like this, where most people are ready for serious change don’t happen often. This will be the only time in our lives where the game can truly change from the top down.

Trust it. Don’t let fear get in the way. Keep your eyes on the prize, for real. Imagine Michelle as first lady, and Sasha and Malia playing on that front lawn.

  14. Jeremy on August 11th, 2007

It would be great if black people could have more hope and realize we have the numbers to give this man the nomination. If he loses the presidency, this is a crucial step. We need to pull together and support this man, who can’t get a cab in Manhattan

  15. Chester H. Lacey on August 12th, 2007

It make me sick to see us as blacks; start down the same road with whity on immigration to degrade the spanish speacking people; talking about what they are taking from us! We do’nt have anything that we can claim anyway; what company do we own or where we employ thousand of our people none, what store we own that we sell our goodes to our people none; so stop talking about what they are taking from our communities; in fact they start more company an hire more of thier; so stop looking to blaming other people or someone else for our sorry state of affairs, at lest they are trying to better for themselves too, we do same. Remember when we started moving from the south to the north, whity started this same rap that they doing now about us taking there jods moving into there lilly white neihborhoods so you see what go’s around comes around. So shut up talking supid; this what this country is all about doing better for everyone!

What everyone in America should be concerned with is the growing birth of an internal American revolution. Gangs, homeless, drug addicts, poor people out of work bcause a non ‘American’ takes his job. On the whole to make a long story short, think what would happen if all the gangs in America black, white, latino, with poor folks who have nothing to lose, start to find ways to destroy the government from within, remember,a lot of street people have military training, ok.

Allen is a nut; he’s drinking something; there are too many guns in this country for something like that too happen(dummy)! This guy is selling fear like our president; this is a country of laws, these government knows what happening this is no accident these people are here for cheap labor; it politics (slavery) on the down low. Cut labor cost, more profits for the man and the illgal can’t complain to anybody (slavery) on the down low. Wake up to what going on; it’s about money and not paying people what there worth; these people need a new nigger (slave); do you understand now.

When gallop polls showed barack tied or leading they made the unprecedented move of chaingign the sample and conducting another poll within the week because in their own words they didnt see how it was possible for Hillary to not be in the lead.

Polls are heavily white, female, and older, because those folks are more willing to pick up the phone and take the poll and are more likely to be at home when people are polling.

  19. Lady W on August 28th, 2007

I think Obama has what it takes to run this country. All the so-called “experienced” leaders we have so far have blundered, made mistakes.

As for the polls, I never pay any attention to them. Who did they ask, just their crony friends to vote? Reveal to me whom you polled.

Obama is making these other candidates sweat. He’s a black man and this is already a threat to them…

Hillary, for whatever reason have to reach back and call on Bill.

Look at all the other so-called experience leaders…given us nothing but lies, deceit, manipulation; an Attorney General who as good as perjured himself; Karl Rove and Scooter Libby who revealed a Secret Agent’s cover, Cheney who is a mastermind of deceit; lie after lie, upon lie. Lied about invading Iraq. It’s not just this administration, Republicans, Democrats, Independents alike…

It’s sad when it comes to black folk, we are either “not qualfied” or “over qualified”.

  20. raquel on August 28th, 2007

obama has a real shot to go for the presidency. If people would just stop and listen to what all the candidates have to say instead of waiting for some one to tell them what to think, then they eould see that the man has a lot to offer. If we as a country are not able to make a decision based on fact instead of feeling them the decisions our elected officials make no one should complain. time to wake up people, the time is now for us to stand together as a nation and make a proper decision for our comander and cheif.

Is it because he’s a Black man or is it the issues he stand for, because i have watch interviews and I still don’t know what his plan are,I have heard about his how he grew up and him being a family man that is what a man should do. and a very supportive wife. Will he do right by the the PEOPLE that will vote for him?, meaning people of color. Life is more that just a color of your skin. GOD Bless him and his Family. I would just hope if he gets there he does a wonderful job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do not believe this place WILL EVER be ready for us as a people to be THEIR leaders. Any at this point, why would we really want to take that position? Obama has a dream… We all dream…This group has sole responsibility for everything being screwed up thus far, I say we leave it that way. Then we do not share in the blood that is on their hands! They have destroyed the Planet single handed. None of the other Countries of color want to be bothered with them, they showed the WORLD exactly what they thought of us as a PEOPLE, two years ago, when they prayed those floods would eliminate all those blacks in New Orleans. I say let Hillary have it..she’s one of them and wants her say in the completion of the enialation of this planet and its occupants. This is their original “mess” let them finish what they have started.. Another assination is NOT what we need and if Obama gets into the Office of President, that’s exactly what they are going to do, “KILL HIM.” Look at Vick, he’s a dead man walking….

  25. jfffnn on September 4th, 2007

Please don’t let poll numbers give you a false sense of hope.the only polls that really matter is at the election booth.people will say they will vote for someone and vote theexact opposite of what they said.the same is true for exit polls.
as far as i’m concerned, the democrat that wins the nomination will get my vote.

I think Obama will go down in a landslide in November. He will be the Dem’s anointed because that was the way the DNC wanted it. But in truth, the more the public at large gets to know BO and his arrogance, nativity and lackluster legislative record…the more they will dislike him.

Truly, color has little impact on this election because if we were talking about an qualified individual such as Colin Powell, NONE of the long list of undesirable, flip-flopping & ill conceived stances, coupled with a long history of Chicago style corruption and a complete lack of relevant experience, will in the end destroy BOs electability, and would not even exist for a qualified candidate.

Maybe the American public isn’t enamored of electing a rock star as opposed to someone with proven leadership, which is a record that becomes more and more clear, BO doesn’t have.
