A State of Emergency
Posted – Aug. 29, 2007 - “We are still in the state of emergency,” Louisiana Democrat
William Jefferson told reporters Monday during a news conference to update us on recovery efforts in the Gulf Coast.
Jefferson and House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D- S.C.) talked about their recent visit to the region, plans for the future and the need for more federal dollars.
Clyburn led a congressional delegation to the area and met with local officials, residents and business owners. (See my Aug. 18 blog.) His visit underscored that more needed to be done. Clyburn said changes are needed to correct recovery efforts so Americans have confidence in their government when disaster strikes.
He would like to see the federal matching plan for disaster relief, The Stafford Act, revisited; insurance laws changed; and the Federal Emergency Management Agency removed from the bureaucracy of the Department of Homeland Security.
Jefferson said, “The biggest fear of people down here is, ‘Will they be forgotten?’” Those fears aren’t unfounded. The city has lost more than 3,000 physicians, the death rate has risen 48 percent, and the loss of 220,000 homes makes it close to impossible to find affordable housing.
Jefferson looks to the “new foundation” in the Democratic majority to keep New Orleans needs on the front burner. Listen to the Interview.

Forget him because he not the answer to the damn problem in nola. The problem is the piss poor government org. fema and the butthole commander and chief with his admin not doing their jobs, period. The media is spinning this recovery as to say nola is ok and we are doing a good job, bullchit! The ninth ward is still the same as after that storm hit down there. People are still missed placed. Housing will cost people a arm and a leg. It’s a shame that the government did an piss poor job in rebuilding nola and our butthole commander and chief does his pr in nola with his butt kissing the people down there. He is a joke and so is his buddies, opps my bad, his admin.
If the people of New Orlenes want a better life, don’t go back. NO was a terrible place to be before the flood. High crime, low education standards, low literacy rates, and high poverty rates. every major urban area that is run by liberals looks this way. And NO was one of the worst. check dennis Kucinichs disctrict in cleveland. Howard dean in vermont boxer in ca, and so on.
If we all got involved in the process, we would not have individuals who embarrass themselves and the memory of our ancestors, as this individual has!

God gave me a revelation, while I was reading these many blogs. The storms are not for the New Orleans evacuee’s but God is sending these people out, to be ministered to. Who are they sending them to he is sending them to the Churches,and faith based organizations. God is sending these people out of there comfort zones to be ministered too. He is not just doing this to get the sinners attention, what about the Saints,the Saints will judge the world. It’s our judgement as people of God, too supply spiritual food for the soul. The very next time you have a shelter set up. Plan a revival,once the people settle in,have an altar call, these people are not being sent of ther comfort zone, only to be sent back to New Orleans the same way they left. Come on Holy Ghost. See we have to look at this thing spiritual, God is trying to get the people of God to focus on him.
