Another Noose

Posted Oct. 10, 2007 – Last week, Black lawmakers found themselves looking closely at the dearth of high-ranking African Americans in the Army, Navy and Marine Corps. By the end of the week, Rep. Elijah Cumming (D-Md.) was heading to the Coast Guard Academy to find out more about two reported racial incidents this summer involving nooses.
So, what’s going on?
Cummings, the chairman of the House Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation, discovered last week that a noose had been found an African-American cadet’s bag in July and a second one was found in August in the office of a White female officer who was conducting diversity training in response to the first incident.
This is the third reported “noose” citing since the now famous one hung from a tree in Jena, La., which led to a schoolyard brawl and criminal charges for six young Black men. The University of Maryland is still investigating the noose found on a tree outside the building that houses the Black students cultural center.
Cummings addressed the faculty and students in New London, Conn. “These cadets are a group of extraordinary young men and women who represent the very best of the best,” Cummings said.
“However, it is important for them to understand that a service as noble as the United States Coast Guard has no place for hatred and disrespect for others, and they will only be as strong as their weakest link.”
The Coast Guard is part of Homeland Security, unlike the other military branches that report through the Department of Defense. But they also take an oath to serve and defend their country.
In his speech to the 950 cadets, Cummings said “Our greatest strength as a free people is the respect we have for the dignity and values of every human being.” He warned that racial hatred would damage and weaken their ranks.
The investigation of both incidents at the Academy is underway. Regardless of what we learn about the handling of this incident, we’ll be disappointed.
Why do you think the noose is being revised as a symbol of hate in 2007?
I think that this has been on the edge for quite some time now and the Jena6 situation was an outlet for those who had the hatred inside to somewhat reveal themselves as well as the hatred that they posses for Blacks and other second class as they conceive citizens which i believe is wrong white america needs to wake up and realize that god created all and every human being deserves to be treated equally.
Let’s be real…there is NO “revival” of the noose as a symbol of hate. It is copycat due to the large amount of press received in Jena, LA. Jeez…I suggest that you are just making things worse yourselves. You are bringing up a whole generation of children who will hate white people. They won’t get a long better for that hate you have instilled in them for white people. The racism starts at home. You all have racists big time too! Are you any better? I’m thinking not! Frequently I have to put up with attitude from black women especially because of my color…white. Does it make me want to practice tolerance? The answer is no…and I have children. Will I pass that on to them as you pass it on to your children? Maybe… But try as I may, I am lashed out at because I am white. Did I enslave people, NO! I say, move on…

To those of you who are in denial as well as those of you who just don’t know…..white racism against african americans is geared and powered by fear of retaliation for their blatent refusal to acknowledge and make right the wrongs for the injustices bestowed upon blacks which began when blacks first set foot on american soil. It is easy to say “get over it” when you have access to every thing this world has to offer as a result of slave labor. No one wants to take the responsibility for paying reparations. The truth is that no african american in this country should be without….if any one group of people have the right to hate, it is african americans. Study your history books…..oops, I forgot WERE NOT MENTIONED IN THERE! Black America, we should never vote for a polititian who does not openly address the real issiues of blacks in this country. In every political debate, the main topic should be reparations for blacks in this country. When we stop voting for these liars they will see the power of the black vote. Racism has never died in this country. Who instilled it in white people for blacks? I’ll tell you….The Democtatic Party…Are you surprised? we’ll, you should be! Our problems need to be dealt with in congress and the house of reps. No white person should be there if they don’t have the Godly wisdom to mandate compensation to african americans in this country. That is the only true way to improve race relations in this racist society.

Nooses, still appear out of hatred, and, for no other reason. blacks are the best musicans, sports figures, yet, they get the axe so to speak. Only GOD can bring about a change. 400 years! and still counting.
