Wooing Women Voters with the Kennedy Connection
By Pamela Gentry, Senior Political Producer
Posted Feb. 5, 2008 – The Super Bowl of the 2008 election is less than 24 hours away, and Sunday’s super line-up for Barack ’08 just added another high-profile endorsement, California’s first lady Maria Shriver.
Shriver, the wife of California Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, was a surprise for folks attending the rally that was designed to woo women voters to the Obama camp. By the time Shriver made a surprise entry onto the stage at the University of California in Los Angeles, Oprah Winfrey, Caroline Kennedy (Shriver’s cousin and the daughter of the President John F. Kennedy), labor leader Maria Elena Durazo and Michelle Obama were already rocking the house. .
The ear-shattering cheers, chants and applause rising from the UCLA arena rivaled that emanating from the crowd at Super Bowl XLII in University of Phoenix Stadium.
“I would ask you to go out, to follow your heart, to be proud that you’re doing that, and remember that so goes California, so goes the nation,” Shriver said.
The crowd of mostly women, ranging from age 8 to 80, Black, White and Latino were hanging on her every word. Shriver went on to say, “If Barack Obama were a state he’d be California.” Listing his qualities as: “diverse, open, smart, independent, bucks tradition, innovative, inspiring, dreamer, leader.”
It’s getting harder to keep track of the number of endorsements flowing through my email each day. But these high profiles, coupled with new television ads, are keeping both candidates working hard.
Of course, Shriver’s vote for a Dem may be cancelled out by her husband’s support for Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), a Republican. California is one of the 22 states with delegates up for grabs, and California has one of the largest numbers of delegates 370 to be awarded to the winner.
The Obama rally was intended to bring him more women, Independents and undecided voters. He’s doing well with Independents, but Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y) has been beating him among women voters, a group that could make the difference in several states on Super Tuesday.
Winfrey, who commands the ears of millions of women each day, told the crowd she had been criticized for not supporting the female candidate in the race. “The truth is I’m a free woman, and being free is that you get to think for yourself and you get to decide for yourself what to do,” she said.
“So I say I am not a traitor. I’m just following my own truth, and that truth has led me to Barack Obama.”
While the ladies were holding it down on the West Coast, Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) was speaking in Wilmington, Del., to 20,000 folks gathered at Rodney Square. With the latest national poll showing Barack only 4 percentage points behind Clinton, Obama took his latest opportunity to revise his stump speech and reference McCain.
“If John McCain is the nominee, then the Democratic Party has to ask itself, ‘|Do you want a candidate who has similar policies to John McCain on the war in Iraq, or someone who can offer a stark contrast?” Obama said. “When I’m the nominee, McCain won’t be able to say, ‘You were for this war in Iraq – because I wasn’t.”
Both Clinton and Obama took time off to watch the Super Bowl. Clinton told folks in Minneapolis, “We’ve got two big contests coming up, we’ve got the Super Bowl and Super Tuesday. I want the New York team to win both.”
The Giants did win, but in a upset. We’ll have to see who upsets whom on Tuesday.
Why do you think so many high-powered Dems are jumping the Billary ship and endorsing Obama?

Before Obama officially entered the Presidential race, I had decided to vote for Hilary because she is a woman, as I am. Also, since Bill Clinton had done so many good things to strengthen our economy, I initially felt that it would be good to have this “team” back in the White House. However, after more extensive thought and research, I have come to the same conclusion as Maria Shriver has, that Obama openly embraces change, for everyone in this great Country. He is also capable of keeping an open mind, when running our Country. When we get to “Heaven” it will not be Segregated, because Segregationists will not be allowed into those Heavenly Gates. Therefore, since I want to follow Obama directly into Heaven, when God opens the “Pearly Gates” to welcome him there, I have decided that I also need to be a follower and supporter of Obama and God, while I am still here on earth. Can I get a Witness?
i believe so many people are turning their votes to Obama, because, now, like always true colors eventually comes out. And with so much racism going on, we as African-Americans are finally attempting to stand and ban together, for a good cause. I was a huge Bill Clinton fan, and voted for him in the election, he did do great things for us, but now it’s time for a new innovative change and Barack Obama, has my vote.
OH YOU CAN GET A WITNESS.I TO FEEL THAT OBAMA OPENLY EMBRACES CHANGE AND WE NEED SOMETHING NEW, WE HAD ALL THE REST SO LETS GO FOR THE BEST. LETS PRAY AND SUPPORT OBAMA AND THE NATION AS A WHOLE. CHANGE IS GONNA COME.
There was never a question about who to support for me. As an african-american woman, Obama has always had my support!
WHEN IT’S ALL SAID AND DONE HE IS THE BETTER CANDIDATE FOR THE PRESIDENCY ,AND IT’S TIME FOR A CHANGE AND WE THE PEOPLE OF THE U.S. ARE READY FOR THAT CHANGE AND BARACK OBAMA IS THAT CHANGE HE AND HIS LOVELY WIFE MICHELLE AND THERE TO BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER’S.LADIES LET DO WHAT WE DO BEST STAND BEHIND OUR MAN…………………
I believe that all different types of people get behind Obama because he is much more than just the “Black candidate”. He is in fact the first Black candidate that has the type of ideas and values that ‘all’ types can get behind. He doesn’t simply work for the Black lower-class, or the Democratic middle-class, or the elitest. He is all things to many different people, from many different walks of life. I think that that is a wonderful thing, and I hope Barack, rocks it all the way to the White House!
We all know what happens when women band together.
We’re for what’s right… We’re for what’s good for the people… We’re for the betterment of our country…So that only means one thing…BARACK OBAMA
I too was going to vote for Hillary at first because I did not know who this new face (Obama) was. She had my vote at first because she was a woman, but I feel like Obama is really for the people (all races). If we could ban together in the 50s and 60s to get equal justice under the law, then we should do the same for this presidential race. Obama is very intelligent, eloquent in his speech, and just as good, if not better than his opponents. We have been looking for change and I think that we have found it in him.
I actually volunteered on the call team for Obama, and was very surprised at how many people feel that they vote will not count. They mention the FL fiasco, and how The Man is going to do what he wants to! I assured them, if you and your friends, and family go out and your friends family and friends go out and vote and the count is so high that they can not deny the results, then we have done our job. As long as your vote, you have tried, but if you don’t then you are a part of the problem, and should only blame your self for the results.
As we all know its almost election time again for a new president and we should all vote wisely. It really doesn’t matter to me who when the presidency as long as they are loyal, honest, and capable of running this country like it should be. Mostly someone who shares concern when it comes to our troops risking their lives everyday for nothing and billions of dollars being spent on this war and we are not getting any where. That money can be use for something else. It would be nice to have a first black or women president.
Hi
Obama is the man that Maria Shrive and Caroline Kennedy have described and I am sure that he can become one of the great all time Presidents. Of course we only have a few. I love that guy and I am going to vote for him. Bravo for Obama! I hope that my will make a difference
Si Se Puedo!!!!!!!!!! I too had the Clinton Spirit and shared the opinion that Bill was the closest thing to having a black presence in the White House. However, when I reflect on Hillary’s hesitance to shake my hand and those of other minority women who paid money to visit with her in Illinois and her Park Ridge roots I know that SHE IS NOT BILL nor does she share his views on inclusiveness. Our country needs healing, not more divisiveness. While I applaud Bill standing by his woman I am sad that this stand has been at the cost of his own reputation. He has been knocked from his pedestal and will now be remembered not for the good he did but for the divisiveness he fueled. Yes We Can………..and Barack is the Man!!!!!!!!!!
OBAMA IS THE MAN, THAT I BELEIVE GOD HAS SENT TO GET THINGS CORRECTED AS THEY SHOULD BE FOR ALL! OBAMA HAS ALWAYS HAD MY VOTE,THIS IS THE RIGHT WAY TO GO.
Hillary Clinton speaks of experience but The Bush’s had experience and what a huge MESS they made of things from the father to the current not to exclude Jeb (X Gov of Florida). I’ll go for CHANGE if that’s what experience brings. Think about it people. Barack all the Way.
Mr. Obama was acredible candidate prior to the endorsements, as well as, the campaigning on his behalf, by these very public, commercially driven individuals. Hopefully, the American Public will finally WAKE-UP and understand the undertones (how much we, especially Black People have not Advanced)–of basing whom we allow to be this nations Elected Representative!(I do not need a Leader)
Hopefully, Americans, Especially Black Americans will abandon the Slave Mental approach and take a more supieror approach to their American existence, and allow the basis for their decision-making be the direct result of a well-constructed “LIFE PLAN”, empirical research and thoughtful prayer/meditation, asking for/seeking divine wisdom from the most high)
like many have commented before, i too supported hillary because of bill and because i too am a woman. so, i felt like i could and would relate better to her. BUT then came along barack…i knew a lil’ about him, but not enough. so after much research and answering a few questions on a quiz, my beliefs and idease supported barack’s vision for change.
Go BARACK!!!
you got much love here in MISSISSIPPI!!!
I STRONGLY BELIEVE BARACK OBAMA IS THE BETTER CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENCY. BARACK OBAMA EXUDES WITH POSITIVE CHANGE. THE CHANGES WE NEED FOR THE BETTERMENT OF OUR NATION. I, THANK GOD EACH DAY FOR CHANGE. ON TUESDAY, FEBURARY 5, 2008 I’M GOING TO HELP MAKE THAT CHANGE BECOME A REALITY BY CASTING MY VOTE FOR BARACK OBAMA THE NEW PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
Well lets do it. Barack Obama for Pres.
U fill that Hillary is a better person for the job as President of the United States. My beliefs really supports Hillary allthe way.
Welove you Hillary in BIRMINGHAM!!!!
I BELIEVE THAT AS OBAMA CONTINUES TO COMPAIGN ON ALL AMERICAN PEOPLE’S ISSUES, THE TRUTH BECOMES REVEALED. ONCE THE TRUTH IS REVEALED IT ALLOWS AMERICANS THE CHANCE TO CHOOSE FOR THEMSELVES. AMERCIANS DON’T CARE FOR POLITICS OR POLITICIANS, WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT HILLARY REPRESENTS. SHE REPRESENTS A FORM OF TRADITIONAL POLITICS THAT DOESN’T REPRESENT AMERICA AS A WHOLE OR THE DIRECTION IN WHICH AMERICA NEEDS TO BE MOVING IN. WE NEED CHANGE! WE WANT SOMEONE WHO IS PRO-ISSUES AND NOT SOMEONE WHO IS PRO POLITICS. I AM A WOMAN WHO WHEN THE CAMPAIGN INITIALLY STARTED WAS UNDECIDED, SLIGHTLY LEANING FOR HILLARY, UNTIL SHE LACKED CONFIDENCE TO STAND ON HER OWN AND HAS NO CONTROL OVER WHAT HER HUSBAND IS SAYING WHILE CAMPAIGNING FOR HER. I BELIEVE THE STEPS OF A RIGHTEOUS MAN ARE ORDERED BY FAITH. OBAMA’S STEPS HAVE BEEN ORDERED AND WHAT IS JUST WILL BE EXAULTED ABOVE ALL! KEEP CAMPAIGNING STRONG OBAMA BECAUSE WHATEVER YOU ARE DOING IS WORKING! I JUMPED SHIP!
Hillary Clinton has had this fierce thirts for power for many decades. She put up with infedelity, she lied and cheated her way to the top. She used people of all races and colors and she alters her image according to the flavor of the day. I have just finished reading quite a few books about the former first lady and I realize that her campaign is not about a better America her campaign is about “More Power for Hillary.” It’s the worst thing we could do is to give someone who has proven to be morrally corrupt the keys to the Whitehouse.
Let’s all pray and work hard to have a wonderful outcome in tomorrow’s primary. OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT. And no more talk about an Obama/Clinton ticket….she shouldn’t be anywhere near the whitehouse. I’d love to see an Obama/Edwards ticket.
I am happy that Obama has decided to run for presidency but I think Hillary stand an even better chance. One things for certain is that America is not ready for a Black president and no matter who you see white America making alot of noise of him it aint going to happen Hillary is the only hope for the democrate party right this minutes
What is America ready for??? some people are just afraid of change but that is all about fear. Stand behind your beliefs, your values and the morals we were raised and taught. In doing so how can you do anything but vote for Barack Obama he is a representation and truth, justice and the american way as it should be.
There is a lot of stigma still surrounding the Clintons. Questions about loyalty and honesty and trust and agenda. People are drawn to Barack because they have instinctively known felt his openess. He is charismatic, true. But so much more importantly he is genuine, brilliantly creative, and unwavering in his desire to bring the country into better standing both domestically and with respect to foreign affairs as well.
Obama is Qualify ~ knowledgeable ~ Walk With Wisdom ~ He Has FREE Decision Making Supporters and Endorsers ~ He Is Not In Anybody Pockets ~ The Only MAN That The WORLD LEADERS Will Join With at The United Nation Table In A Peaceful Effect To Solve WORLD’S PROBLEMS! ~~~~
Special note: To All Un- Knowledgeable African American So-Called Men, In the White man’s Pockets, None Supporters of your qualify Brother ~~ I say to you STOP HATING because you did not step up to the plate. Your minds are not yet FREE blackman!

A CHANGE IS GOING TO COME
In the famous words of Sam Cooke ” A change is going to come”…. Some would say these are just lyrics and they hold no power or credence in society. They are merely words on paper….Oh, but I know better, I know the power of words….I know that what a man thinks is what he shall be…I’ve seen this happen first hand. The question is …Who will be that next great leader to cultivate change ? The answer is simple: Barak Obama! But first we must take a hard and sometimes difficult look at our own lives and create change before we can look to others to lead us, because the only person we can truly change is ourselves. But, if I have to choose a President based on intellegence, character, and the principles of change …… Well for me the choice is simple: BARAK OBAMA!! for President in 08′ I would never be so crass as to believe that one man can SAVE the world but I do beleive it only takes one man to be courageous enough to CHANGE it. Barak Obama for President in 08′!!
Obama will be a good president of america
I don’t care if the best candidate is male or female, black or white, young or old. I will vote for the person I feel will do the best job as President.
The past seven years have seen America grow more and more divided. One side doesn’t trust the other, and no one can get anything done (except, apparently, to send us to war and increase our national debt.)
I will vote for Obama because I believe he has the best chance of reuniting us into a great nation once again. We need a unifier, and I really believe he can be one.
No, he’s not perfect…no one is. But he’s the best candidate in this election, and he’s got my vote.
THE HOPE FOR CHANGE IS THE GREATLY THING A COUNTRY @ WAR CAN PRAY FOR. THANK YOU! BARAK OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT 08,FOR THAT DREAM AND HOPE.
MINNESOTA LOVE YOU AND MOST OF ALL PRAYING THAT GOD KEEP YOU AND YOUR FAMILY SAFE!!!!!!!!!!
I am glad the Clinton’s showed their true colors, Hillary was my second choice (if Obama didn’t get the nod) but after researching her and her husband I will do a write in, vote republican or don’t vote for pres at all if she gets nominated.
This is the dream that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke about, and I am honoring that dream.
Yea we this all started i was all for Hillary but when Obama came to Kansas City last week i truly changed my mind. I would love a women president but Obama is talking what everyone wants to hear,so sorry Hillary maybe she can be vice-president.
Barak Obama has had my vote from day one when he announced his candidacy. When I think of all the hatred, lynchings, and bogotry my ancestors had to endure, including the sit-ins, hate crimes, the Montgomery Bus Boycott, being hosed down with fire hydrants, being carted off to jail, and the Emmitt Till murder in Mississippi, we should not just sit idly by and let this chance go by without voting for a man that I believe God has divinely appointed to represent a nation. Obama will fight for all people’s rights, no matter what race, creed, or color. What will you tell your grandkids when they ask you who you voted for? Our ancestors fought and died for our right to vote so let’s honor that right. I will be proud to say I voted for a man for ALL people.
what bothers me about black americans is the negativity and the lack of vision. This country has been run by unscrupulous, corrupt politicians for decades and yet, we as black people, still want to trust a white woman who let her husband embarrass her, drag her through many states with different women and knowingly didn’t speak up or better yet, crack him across his head with all his whoring around. I would never vote for her for that reason - she is a woman scored and she is out for revenge and power! Our country is messed up and people need to understand and believe that we need a fresh, positive man in the white house to bring this country back to some sort of normalcy! I do believe that Barak Obama is God sent and that it is our duty to vote for him as President following beliving what our hearts feel as Christians –the right thing to do. It just feels right…Follow your instincts people.
I WAS ON THE FENCE ON WHICH OF THESE TWO CANDIDATES I WAS GOING TO VOTE FOR BUT NOT ANYMORE. THIS IS NOT A WOMAN OR BLACK ISSUE, I WANT A CHANGE!!! I THINK THE TIME IS NOW FOR A PRESIDENT THAT CAN HELP BRING THE COUNTRY TOGETHER AND I THINK THAT IS OBAMA!!!
For me, a black female, knowing that Barack Obama did not support the war in Iraq from the very beginning, is #1 reason I support him. No other presidential candidate can say that: black, white or woman.
If we were not spending billions on this Bush Worldwide Bamboozle called war in Iraq, then all of our domestic concerns, i.e., affordable healthcare, improving our public schools, re-building our infrastucture, paying teachers better, dealing with global warming and climate change, finding alternatives to US oil dependence, and even solving the subprime mortgage mess, all have a chance.
Without Barack’s spirit and leadership, I think Billary and McCain’t will doom US to more of the same BS, different day… nobody can afford that.
Martin Luther King and Dwight Eisenhower warned us about the dramatic situation Americans find ourselves in today. War was the primary evil which
they asked us to beware of.
For once, can we please seize this moment and not let anyone tell US to wait, because the US and the world cannot wait. I want a women president some day, but not today. Yes WE Can! Si Si Puede! VOTE 4 Barack people!
An image of Barack with his hand on the Bible, taking the Oath of Office, Michelle, Malea and Sasha standing next to him, beaming proudly, is the vision I see. Let’s make it happen - cast your vote the right way and let’s get this country back on its way “up!”
He is young, gifted and black.
Hillary is really bothering me with all of the crying crap. I am a woman and I know for a fact, I can’t make good decisions in a time when I am crying or feeling weak. How on earth can she run this country if everytime someone gets shot or a bomb goes off in Iraq she cries. I am not saying it’s not ok to cry, by any sense of the word, but when you are running an entire country and a country that the world is looking at, who wants to see someone crying all of the time. It would be ok during a time of a crying episode, say 911, war, famine , etc. She is trying to win people over by trying to get them to feel sorry for her crying behind. Obama in 08. I was going to vote for Edwards but he dropped out. And there isn’t anything that any of those grumpy ol’ white men can do for me in that Republican field. They are crazy and they don’t give a care about any black peoples opinions.
To Mollie - and that’s a fact!
There’s a world waiting for you Barack. Last week, my 10-year-old niece was asked in class what she wants to be when she grows up, and she responded, “President of the United States.” A classmate yelled out in front of everyone, “You can’t be that because your skin is brown!” My niece was devastated. Again, let’s make the right decision tomorrow, not based on race, but the reality that anyone in this country can be whatever they want to be without the obstacles of ignorance.
They want the spotlight on themselves and not on upper middle class and middle class American people who comprise the vast majority of this country. They are jumping on the bandwagon of Obama because they can control him at the expense of the American people, especially African Americans. If African Americans vote for Obama they will get poorer and will be shut out of his administration. It is obvious he already owes too much to people that are already rich like Teddy Kennedy, Caroline Kennedy, and Oprah. There won’t be anything left for the real people.
I pray to God for Mr. Obama to be our next president, because seem to be a God fearing man and we as people are to fear,God and only God. So let stop living fear. Vote for Obama, and God all the people of this world.
I did my research for months now. Reading books by and on Hillary Clinton. To think of a white house run by her is just as discouraging as the white house run by George Bush. If Hillary is the candidate I will note vote in November. She is as corrupt as are all these politicians. There could be nothing good to come out of a Clinton Presidency.
The Clinton’s let us down once and now America wants to be let down again. Her failed attempt at healthcare the first time should give you a look into her proven record. She cause deception, devisivness, and was closed minded. She held closed door meetings and was scandalous in firing the entire Travel Staff of Clinton’s presidency to hire her friends and family.
She had her people ransack the office of Vince Foster when he died…what is it that you suppose she was hiding???More scandal more corruption and tommorrow people are heading to the polls for more of the same.
Barack Obama is our hope right now and if we want change we must elect Obama.
Don’t be fooled people!!! Please VOTE tommorrow!!
I pray for him every morning, although I do not forget to add in my prayers that God should allow His will to be done but right now,I feel like shedding tears for Obama. He is who we want.I pray that God lets him get there.Barack Obama - POTUS ‘08.That’s President Of The United States.
I was for Billary as well. Then I saw them in S.C.! I saw how the Clinton’s REALLY feel as well. The cover was removed. We need new blood, new mission. Our country is more Barack. It’s not white, nor black, it’s mixed; that’s what he is and he can relate to EVERYONE! Young/old, rich/poor, learned/unlearned, locked up/free.
Obama doesn’t have to support the war he still is good in his own way i think he would a great president for us. this county Isn’t mixed it’s all and when people say mixed they think of two races, but when i say all i mean every one not only two i mean everyone black, white, hispanic, and more. that’s why i put my hand up for him.
Well Well Well,i donot know who will win this race but i can tell you this ” Obama” all the way. He is a man of integrity and principle, the underdog etc, Obama like Martin Luther king is un-selfish. He is putting his life on the line for all of the above.Obama knows this may very well cost him his life but again he is ” un-selfish”, We know American is not truly ready for a black man,but Obama does not see color he sees “TRUTH !and standing up for this time for change” One man cannot change the world but one man can make a difference and it is time for the difference. We all know that Martin Luther King made a difference for every race, boy girl man and woman and Obama will deliver.
Because we want CHANGE & OPPORTUNITY!
Close your eyes America…open your ears and hearts. Our land is “SREAMING” for Healing for Peace and Happiness. Way too much blood has falling on foreign soil for what? Oil maybe?
those poor souls are still blowing themselves up.
I know Mother America Needs A change.
“YES WE CAN”
PLEASE. IF YOU HAVE NOT CHECKED OUT WILL I AM’S VIDEO THAT WAS BASED OFF OF OBAMA’S SPEECH IN NEW HAMSHIRE, GO WATCH. YOU CAN FIND IT ON YOUTUBE BY SEARCHING “WILL I AM” AND THE VIDEO IS “YES WE CAN”. TRULY INSPIRATIONAL. I GET TEARY EYED EVERYTIME I WATCH IT.
If you need proof that change is needed just think about the fact that every 25 years Black people’s right to vote has to be signed into law. We are still considered 3/5 human. These things remain in place because there is no change. It is said that the only thing that is constant is change - no so. The government does not change only the people who run the government. These people have the same ideas, loyalties and ties, and values so you tell me where is the change. If you can’t tell me them I will tell you OBAMA
I will Vote for Obama, because I believe he can bring change to America for the Better.
America and the world needs Obama
WATCH “YES WE CAN” VIDEO ON YOUTUBE”!!!!
DOES ANYONE KNOW, HOW WE COULD GET “YES WE CAN” INTO BET’S VIDEO ROTATION???
Obama will only cause most Americans to be poorer, becaue he will maintain the status quo as dictated by his rich supporters. Haven’t you noticed who his main spokesmen and women are? They are rich white people mostly, except for Oprah and a few rich stars. Upper middle income and middle income people will suffer if Obama is President, no matter waht color they are.
Mr Obama is the right canidate for the presidency in America. I’ve been follower of his since 2004. I’m 23 yrs of age and he is big amongst my peer group. He is the only person who has the Ear of the youth, middle aged, and the elderly. Everyone wants something new, and Senator Obama is it.
God’s will be done. OBAMA ‘08 Not everyone in Birmingham is for Hillary, please speak for yourself, earlene.
I VOTE HILLARY - SHE AND BILL HAVE DONE MORE FOR THE AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY THAN THE OBAMA’S EVER HAVE - MAKE THE DREAM A REALITY AND VOTE WITHOUT ANY DISCRIMINATION… EDUCATED VOTERS VOTE FOR HILL:) AMEN BROTHERS AND SISTERS:)

I just officially voted today. I brought my ballot down to the registrar office(didnt need it getting lost in the mail) and I feel great. The first time as a young voter that I felt great after casting my vote. This first time I’ve volunteered for a presidential canidate’s campaign.Barack’s is a magnetic figure and I am so happy to have been able to see what he is doing and will continue to do.
African-Americans will be the laughing stock of the world if they vote for Obama just because he is black. Obama has already sold out African Americans.
I am for Obama because he is the best one for our country. I like his platform and he is a uniter not a divider. (Blessed are the peacemakers).
OBAMA ‘08. That’s my vote. I pray for lost black people who have no faith or belief in anything. You are so lost in your ingnorant self that you really think that in 2008, and after all of the fighting that our people have done since the Civil Rights Movement and way before that that it’s not “time for a change!” Educate yourself black people and stop looking the the ‘white man” to tell you it’s o.k. to be somebody! My God!!!
Is someone posing as a concerned African American? Because some of the comments I’ve read is very pro-chain letter! Go figure!!!
I really believe that it is prophetic that Obama is one of the leading candidates for president. If we recall from Martin Luther Kings speech, “I believe that “one day” my children will not be judge by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” Just think, he has more votes from the White, Latino and asian community than any previous black candidate. Barack all the Way…..
Yes Dee, they are posing as concerned African Americans posting comments on this blog ~ However, we are to wise to fall for their games. It’s called TRICK-KNOWLEDGE but it do not work anymore!!!!
Don’t be fooled by the Hillary Clinton endorsements…gee, and why did that have to be included when they wanted us to respond to a simple question. Anyway, can somebody PLEASE post all of Barack’s endorsements just so the record is set clear. Barack is holding his own. I say NO to the clinton dynasty - Bush/Clinton/Bush and now we want to put yet another Clinton in office. No new ideas.
NO GOD. NO PEACE. KNOW GOD. KNOW PEACE! Why in the world would this woman (with her power and money) stay with a man who pubicly shamed her. Why? because she knew she wanted to run for president and she was going to need his loud mouth to campaign for her. I’m so turned off by them. And make no mistake about it, it is THEM that would be returning to the white house. I’m a black female and I support Barack Obama - not because he’s black (actually he is half white), but because he brings a new vision that is so needed.
Glad to see the pics of Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama, Maria Shriver, and Caroline Kennedy for a couple of reasons. For one, Shriver and Kennedy represent the power base of the feminist movement in the US: well heeled-white women, and it’s good to see them think beyond gender and stand for a candidate that can inspire both genders. We also, most definitely, cannot overlook the great accomplishments that Oprah and Michelle Obama have made as women, and particularly as black women. Both have worked tremendously hard for all that they’ve accomplished, and I’m glad to see Oprah hit back against the so-called feminists who’ve called her a traitor for not supporting Clinton. I also feel it’s somewhat short-sighted and possibly offensive to hear people talk about Hillary’s job as a mother of Chelsea, but neglect the job that Michelle AND Barack are doing with their daughters. Wow, what a concept: a committed couple as President and First Lady as opposed to two political opportunists . . . one who feels it’s “her time” for the Presidency and one who’s ready to resume his White House cat-daddy in chief routine.
Beyond simple change, let’s bring honor and responsibility back to the White House. OBAMA ‘08
WELL WELL. It is indeed Super Tuesday!! Folks this is the day when the rubber meets the road. THis is your time. Your time not to make A difference, yet to make “The” Difference. Obama will be a Man of Destiny. Those who are undecided. I ask you go to Obama’s Website page and review his his Bluebook for Change. As one historical hip hop icon once said “Dont Tell that you Understand until you Hear the Man”. For those Obama supporters, particularly in NY, California, Georgia, NJ, Illinois in particular. You will be Key. Lets pull together despite the weather, media, and those telling you, it Can Not Be Done. Despite whether we are Latino, African American, Italian, Irish, Jewish etc. Male and Female, those who are with this man’s Message for Change , Let us pull together Today at the Voting Place. The Future Hangs in the Balance. As Benjamin Franklin said ” We must Hang Together, or assuredly, we Shall All Hang Separately”.
I know we can win
Good luck Mr. Obama the world look forward to your promise of meaningful dialogue.
as President you have a lot of mess to clean up to bring your nation back to respectability on the world stage.
Back in the late seventies i predicted( analysed/ concluded) that the USSR and the USA will fall but i never envisage them to fall by military means.
WAR is never the answer.
last 4 invasions 1) Argentina’ invasion of the Falklands Argentina Colapse of their banking system gone.
2) USSR invades Afganistan USSR gone
3) SADAM invasion of Kuwait result IRAQ gone
4) USA invasion of IRAQ results USA gone (isolated economic woes.
Men need to understand that barbarism on a grand scale should be a thing of our past.
wouln’t it be great to have oboma president and hillary for vice.
Barack Obama is a highly quaified candidate who happens to be a Black Man. I too am a woman, who first thought I would give my vote to Hilary. I then did my research, because I will not vote without looking at who was speaking for and what is important to me. A change is what we need. A real out look on what is happening, what can happen, and what we can do to change what is currently happening, has come into play.
Mr. Obama has my vote. A strong candidate who just happens to be a Black Man. Now how can we lose with that????

It is about time we have a viable candidate that can reach to the masses. Now our young Black Men and Women can see they can do it as well. Now that’s what I call taking the lead!

It would seem that I am in the minority (at least on this posting). I support Hillary Clinton for President.
Barrack Obama is a wonderful speaker and the simple fact that he has run such a powerful campaign is historic onto itself, but I experience him as an idealist and not very specific about how he will create the change he goes on and on about—-if he indeed becomes President. Additionally, I feel his media darling status is based largely on his amazing speaking ability. The press loves a juicy story. I’m fearful that a dynamic is being created where there will be no room for error for him. The first time he makes a mistake, the same folks in the media that’ve been giving him this huge reach around will turn him out in the end.
Sen. Clinton on the other hand, has been there and done that. She’s been turned out - she’s stood her ground and took the hits for that. When she suggested a solution to the Healthcare issue in ‘93 she got turned out - but now it’s like a standard campaign issue. She got into people’s bad graces when she decided to break the First Lady mold (going to kindergarden classes and reading books) and did something different. Not to mention her undeniable grasp of foreign policy and healthcare issues. She’s not perfect by a long shot…but she’s been under attack for so long, yet she’s still standing. That’s what inspires me.
Having said that, I am encouraged that folks care so much…and I don’t hate on anyone that supports Obama. You should see the two Dem. campaign camps duking it out here on 125th St. It’s exciting.
Hillary ‘08.
-L
Hillary is well qualified and I will vote for her call me what you want and hate me but I have a choose to vote for whom I like and I like her Peace
First off all I want to thank senator Obama for doing such a great job in the election primary. He is a man of high integrity and very intelligent .I can feel it deep down in my hearth. The common I am about to make is profound and potentially big for all race especially among young African-American.
My point is this. Let’s shot two birds in one stone.
1.First, All the African-American should cast their vote on Obama for the sake of our children higher potential education. As you know because of the way the system was brought up, most of the children might thing only a white man can be a president. Obama winning can help more children to realize not only a black person can be president, but a good incentive that may pushes them to be doctor, engineer, philosopher, astronaut, etc…whatever prestigious and eminent potential they want to achieve. And Obama has all the credential to be a president compare to previous presidential black candidate and the entire current presidential candidate. I am not going to say that it wont be another Obama again, but let’s us realize this might be the one time opportunity for us.
2.Second at the same time we will have the first black lady in the white house. Michelle Obama is also very smart.
Therefore, we should all vote for barrackobama if you want change. Please spread the word
WE ARE SPOILED….EVERYONE THAT LIVES IN AMERICA IS SPOILED. WE HAVE SO MANY CHOICES..THANK GOD. WE NEED TO MAKE SURE IF WE TALK THE TALK, WE CAN WALK THE WALK
BARACK IS THE MAN……..MIAMI LOVE YOU
Chnge is the reason we insist on Obama as the next President. We as Americans love the thought of new things. He’s fresh and new.
Unfortunately, the Kennedy and Oprah did not do anything to encourage voters to vote for him in California and Mass, I believe it harmed Obama instead. As I stated to BET, Obama needs to confront the accusations of Larry Sinclair. This is getting a leg on the internet, and with this disqusting accusations and evidence of abonimation between two men, I don’t see the democrats winning the whitehouse. Mr. Obama you need to think very hard in 1999 whether or not you did the things he is accusing you of and if he could have evidence for the republicans. Don’t ruin it for us,
Not A Single VOTE for Obama-New York? ~~ HERE IS THE SITE WITH THE INFORMATION:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/16/nyregion/16vote.html
Black voters are heavily represented in the 94th Election District in Harlem’s 70th Assembly District. Yet according to the unofficial results from the New York Democratic primary last week, not a single vote in the district was cast for Senator Barack Obama. ~ That anomaly was not unique. In fact, a review by The New York Times of the unofficial results reported on primary night found about 80 election districts among the city’s 6,106 where Mr. Obama supposedly did not receive even one vote, including cases where he ran a respectable race in a nearby district.
The CLINTON’S HAVE DONE THINGS FOR BLACK FOLKS; HOWEVER, NONE OF THE THINGS THEY’VE DONE ARE GOOD!!
I WILL NEVER EVER, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, VOTE FOR THAT HATEFUL, EVIL FAMILY!!!!!
Amen! Zetta That Comment was awesome. My Bishop spoke a Word from the lord and said,” In order for God to raise a people(black, white, blue, yellow, pink), he has to raise a man in order for the people to follow. Look at Moses and Joshua, God chose them to led the people just to name a few. Go Obama! Go God Got your back and we do too.
Soldier of Christ:
How dare you infer that Obama’s REPORTED and UNVALIDATED indiscretion has anything to do with it? How many Neo-Repubs have been caught IN WORSE….married men soliciting sex in mens bathrooms, pedophilia and the like?
No matter what you say, during these primaries McCain didnt even garner a third of the votes that Obama did! He is a dinosaur, and you sound like a Handkerchief head dinosaur yourself!! You, are no soldier for Christ! You sound like a solier for the OTHER!!!
TruthReallyHurts:
We are on the EXACT same page! I cringe everytime I hear a lost African American talk about our 1st Black president being that two-timing, piece of “bleep”!!!!
Did you ppl forget what he did to Ron Brown? And his fake tears at the funeral. I didnt!!!! How about NAFTA which sanctioned businesses w/heavy tax breaks to close in America and move overseas? People from Dayton and Detroit know what I am talking about!!! How about WELFARE REFORM which has decimated urban communities worse than the Depression-era poverty? Finally, and most importantly, that jerk couldnt even apologize for slavery as he sat eating soul food in a Baptist church!!!!! Now, we see the true white southerner repulican come out of them downplaying this brilliant brotha’s promising bid!
Where in the flip do you folks live? Cause ya’ll are lost in the sauce. It sickens and shames me to no end.
Leniere-
I dont want My President reading books to inner city children. I want a President to FINALLY provide funding to these urban schools for THEIR OWN BOOKS!
You can live in Clinton fantasy-land all you want! But, please understand that the REST OF US know better!!!!
Maybe you need to ask yourself why you STILL think you need a great white hope!
Hello PEOPLE:
Hilary Clinton began her career as a Goldwater Girl!! That says it all…….For those of you who dont know….Google Barry Goldwater’s bid for the Presidency and how divisive, corrupt and RACIST it was!
But, she has changed! Yeah, and THEN you woke up!!
4women: Imagine that. How could all of those bright people been so dead wrong.I guess Barack won the hearts of the simple man,not the status qou, business as usual power machine.Hillary forgot that the engine doesn’t run by itself. There are so many other small, but important parts to a WHOLE car ! Go,Go,Go Barack!!!!!!!
WHEN GOD SAYS LET IT BE DONE IT SHALL BE DONE. AND ONE THING ABOUT GOD HE DOES NOT LIE AND DOES NOT MAKE MISTAKES. IT IS TIME FOR A WONDERFUL CHANGE AND AS THE SAYING GOES BEHIND EVERY GOOD MAN IS A EXTREMELY GOOD WOMAN, AND LOOK A ALL OF THE GOOD WOMEN BACKING BARAK OBAMA. GOD IS TRYING TO TELL US ALL SOMETHING. ITS TIME FOR A WONDERFUL CHANGE. CONGRADULATE BARAK OBAMA. GOD BLESS US ALL.
I am a black female and it really disappoints me when people say because you are female you should vote for hillary. Just so we are clear if it is about race or gender then race trumps gender any day. But its not about that, its about what I feel would be the best for this country and I feel Barack would bring something new to the table. Hillary is weak to me. She let herself be humiliated while her husband ran around and I dont want a weak “person” in office. You can believe Michele wouldnt allow that. Because she is a strong woman! Barack all the way!
At first I was going to vote for Hillary, because of her being a Senator with experience, and secondly for being a former first-lady!
But now after hear and seeing Obama in the debate before the NY Primary Elections, I feel he’s the man to vote for… Not because he’s African-American like myself, but because he says he’ll make Healthcare and Education his #1 priority, and that is 2 of my biggest concerns. So I am standing behind him all the way, and looking forward to a change in the future….
I think that hiliary is scared to be beaten by a black man but you’ll were in the white house already and I don’t need to tell you how a big mess you made and you want another chance? HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
NOT IN THIS DECADE
I agree with all the comments on how we need CHANGE in the 21st century. Let’s be real… the last 8 years have not benefited ANY minority. Change is not an easy thing to take, but in the end it will benefit us all. OBAMA ATW in ‘08!
I want equal opportunity for all school children and not just the privileged communities. I want inner city kids to have the same opportunities and not to be bused to other schools to be discriminated against. I hope Obama or will do this. We certainly do not need another Republican in the White House. And as far as being a witness to no segregationist in heaven — all you have to do to get to heaven is believe that Jesus died on the cross and we all know the Klan is all Christians.
Oh I forgot to actually answer the question.
I know that Black Americans is wanting and needing change and I think that White Americans are also looking for change. There are more educated Blacks which gives the educated Whites an opportunity to see that Blacks are not the scum they have been raised to believe. Blacks and Whites both have people in our races that need a little adjustments but for the most part we need to unite for what’s best for our country–”OUR COUNTRY”
