A Super Switch for A Super Delegate

Rep. John Lewis (D-Ill.) and Pamela Gentry BET NewsBy Pamela Gentry, Senior Political Producer

Posted Feb. 15, 2008 – Has the pressure on Black lawmakers who are backing Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) – and holding “super” status – started to mount for them to move their support to Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), the candidate overwhelmingly picked by the people they represent?

According to the online publication The Nation, Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) said he will cast his super-delegate vote for Obama at the Democratic Convention, even though he will not formally switch his endorsement of Clinton at this time.

But that alone is enough to send a signal to others and get the ball rolling for other super delegates with the same thoughts, who didn’t want to be the first to follow the popular vote.

Lewis, a respected civil rights leader and former aid to Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., endorsed Clinton before the early primary contests.  This move could bring other Black naysayers from the old establishment  into Obama’s fold.

As you may remember, I  (see my Blog Feb. 11, 2008) asked how Black lawmakers would justify not following the will of the people they represent.  But Lewis is making a smart decision early, before the numbers game for delegates gets too close to call.  He’s standing by his endorsement as a “personal choice,” but at the same time he’s telling the folks who sent him to Washington, “I hear you, and your choice is Obama.”

On Thursday, David Plouffe, Obama campaign manager said it is “highly unlikely” that Clinton could earn enough votes in the remaining contests to win the nomination with pledged delegates, adding Clinton would “have to win Ohio, Texas and virtually all other remaining primaries by roughly 2-to-1 margins.”

If he’s right, and super delegates start to shift, even in small numbers, Obama could be closer to the nomination than was originally thought. Plouffe believes even the most “creative math” won’t knock Obama out of the lead.

But Guy Celcil, Clinton’s political director, told reporters, ” Clinton should be within 25 delegates of Obama after March 4.” That’s when primaries take place in Ohio, Texas, Rhode Island and Vermont.

The Obama camp said in an email that he leads Clinton by 136 delegates, but other reports put the number as low as 25 delegates.  It’s hard to be exact because the number of pledged and undecided delegates changes daily.

This battle for delegates could go all the way to the convention floor and leave a deeply divided Democratic Party.  It might be wise for more super delegates, who’ are elected officials, to stay with their personal choice, but pledge the people’s choice.

That’s what representative government is all about.

CNN has reported that John Lewis hasn’t changed sides yet. I’m sure not unentirely due to a phone call from Mr. Bill Clinton. But were I him (John Lewis), I would definately start thinking about the will of the voters when some what 80%? of your district votes for Obama. I will give any Superdelegate this who votes early on…at least they had the courage to support someone rather than to see which way the wind blows. In my opinion even if you get it wrong that stands for something. Now that being said, I would throw my support behind the people whom voted for me and I would do so by saying publicly that I supported a particular candidate but the will of the people have spoken and I want to best represent their interests so I’m rallying behind them. I think that is a good statement to make. Might seem wishy-washy to some but I don’t think too many can argue if a delegate wants to support their voters. It does, however, appear cowardly to wait till the last minute to see which way the tide rolls before making a decision.

    WAKE-UP AMERICA!! ESPECIALLY BLACK AMERICA!

QUESTION: Should AMERICA, especially educated BLACK AMERICA(who people marched and died for, including my father)care who endorses whom! The true beautity of AMERICA, is that each AMERICAN is/will conduct themselves as a responsible stakeholder, and therefore, will educate him or herself about issues affecting their respective communities, as well as, those issues affecting the quality of life of all AMERICANS!

I have nothing but LOVE and RESPECT for OLD Massa Lewis, but it is time for us to enbrace our AMERICAN EXISTENCE in an supierior, educated way, and make Rep.John Lewis, the brave civil rights activist, who took ass beatings so that all children, especially those identified as colored, negro, black, or African-American could educate/activate their god given minds and fulfill their fuduiary responsibilities as stakeholders, in this great country we call the United States of America!

Finally, much love and respect to my girl(HILLARY CLINTON), Papa John McCain, Minister Huckabee,AND my brother Barack Obama!

The Freemoney Family Organization, will/or is preparing its self, as well as, its members to compliment and/or suppliment any micro-initiatives you feel neccessary to introduce, to keep AMERICA GREAT!

    WAKE-UP AMERICA!! ESPECIALLY BLACK AMERICA!!

THE PEOPLE, EDUCATED AND COMMITTED PEOPLE are the only true agents of change!

    HAVE A BLESSED/FREEMONEY DAY!!

I think black folk are emotionally off the chain as far as Obama is concerned. I think John Lewis should stick to his endorsement because if it were the other way around with Hillary leading then black folk would be asking Lewis to stick up for Obama. Obama does not need emotionalism he needs black folk to vote and act intelligently. I feel like he will beat Hillary even if Lewis stays with Hillary. Obama can beat Hillary without any superdelegates and the votes in Florida and Michigan should count but the people in charge should be fined.

Well stated FREEMONEY FAMILY ORGANIZATION…I couldn’t agree with you more!

  5. Miss C on February 15th, 2008

I think Michigan and Florida should not be counted it is not fair to us in those states that would have voted otherwise. In the beginning the democrates stated because of legalities that they would not go on those ballots and therefore should have kept there word. How can we trust someone that lied from the beginning? Wake-up people, it is a lot at stake for all the world.

    Much Love

This is so sad that Mr. Lewis is being blackmailed loose his seat are do what other blacks want. So what if he want to vote for Clinton what are the Blacks going to do Burn down some more inner cities. This is a so sad its no better then dealing with the KKK which is what Mr Lewis fought in his days. I am so very sad for Blacks in Congress that are being black mail by other blacks this is what a lot of Whites are hopeing for and we again falling into the trap. Even if Obama wins he has four years to get things right and then what burn donw some more cities again? This is so sad and depressing I want nothing to do with this mess.

White folks are writing these comments ya’ll …remember …. BET is not BLACK no more !!

  9. Archie on February 15th, 2008

Whites are not writing these comments. I am black and Michigan and Florida should be counted because if Obama had won black folk would have wanted the votes to be counted and that’s the point that Julian Bond is trying to make. Obama will win the nomination if black folk go vote for him and support in an intelligent manner that attracts other people but right now we,black folk, are too emotional and are not thinking enough about the issues. Black people are calling other black people names because those people aren’t supporting Obama and that’s ridiculous. I don’t think people understand that if not for Julian Bond,Maxine Waters,John Lewis, and some of the other black lawmakers you would not have the right to vote for Obama. Jesse Jackson is the one that made the super delegate thing possible so before blacks talk about togetherness they need to get their emotions together and understand politics.

i’m with you on that, however, one of the main points to obama’s campaign is to start holding our elected leaders accountable and demand action. change comes from us remember? i don’t think that if you are a hillary supporter, you’re an uncle tom. you just think that she’s better in the issues than he is and i respect that. but this isn’t the 60’s. black folk will not cause riots if obama loses. we have much more important issues to attend to but what angers me about the old guard is the fact that they haven’t really done much for us lately but complain. it takes sacrifice to achieve change and no leaders(black or white) have ever really told us what we need to do to lift us up out of our situation.

  11. canman on February 15th, 2008

IN MY OPINION CHARLES RANGEL IS A POOR EXCUSE FOR BLACK REPESENTATION. HE HAS SHOWN HIS REAL COLORS AND SHOULD BE DISGRACED FROM THE ANNALS OF BLACK HISTORY.AMEN

  12. David on February 15th, 2008

Obama is the smart choice, he is allowing the other candidates to play themselves during this chess match. The old guard is feeding into it and for that alone you can go with him.

But, if you want more. Examine the “War Vote” topic. It is the most important cause this is where the countrys’ foundation is being rocked.

Healthcare could have been address by Hillary during her husbands term in office but it wasn’t. So, she is out the question.

What we need is a clean slate, a new Presidents’ resolution, a movement. This man is serving the people the right entree we just need to sit down & eat with him.

  13. Liban on February 15th, 2008

We shouldn’t be looking simply at the fact that Barack Obama is black, which is what all of America is doing, but he is also a very well educated person. Even his wife, who went to school at Princeton, fits the image of a perfect American family. The only difference is that their skin is black. So, if voting for Barack because he’s a black man isn’t good enough for you, do some research and you’ll see that he is more than that.

  14. Tom on February 15th, 2008

Black people pls stop hateing each other light skin/dark skin/old guard/new ideas what next let those who have the right to vote, vote for the person of there choice without calling them names. Its so elementary and child like calling name to those who are fat, welfare, dark skin, nappy hair when are going to stop. Let those who want to vote for the canidate that they want to vote for this is so hateful when are going to grow up burn donw cities if we don’t get what we want. Continue to sell drugs, shoot each other let our children listen to music that degrade people now you want to attack older blacks.I can assure you this IS not part of the dream I regret that I attended the MARCH ON WASHINGTON/SELMA TO MONTGOMERY THIS IS A SAD DAY!!!!!

Can someone please answer the question I have been asking regarding TAX RETURNS!

Senator Obama has released his 07 Income Tax Statement. Senator Clinton will not Release hers.

    What are they Hiding?

Also the Clinton papers from his years as president are being held until after the elections! I ask again What are they hiding?

No transparecy in the Clinton whitehouse!

    They can’t be trusted!

  16. rah da god on February 15th, 2008

i think superdelegates should consider the issues as should any voter. I also think that superdelegates should consider how their district voted as well

  17. Mike on February 15th, 2008

Couldn’t agree more Christy. Every single thing that people use to try to keep people ill at ease about Obama has been falsified. Obama is the more honest candidate and he proved that with opening up his tax returns, giving back to or donating to charity the lobbyist and special interests money found within his campaign, and a book that details even the bad choices he made as a youth.

People try to dog him about his inexperience yet he was involved in and helped pass more bills in his first few years of office than Hillary whose record, within the same time frame, has more building dedications and the like.

People say he doesn’t speak to the issues and yet his website outlines his plans. He debated the issues of healthcare, fuel, the economy and specific to the housing industry, he talked about education, etc. He has plans out there for the public to see for themselves.

When you google Baracak Obama and just look at the Wiki site, it goes into detail about Obama’s oustanding civil service background and education.

So one has to ask themselves, how is Hillary a better candidate? And more importantly why would anyone try to sling mud upon a candidate with a background as Obama’s who has spent a large portion of his life for the betterment of American People??

  18. Dee Dee on February 15th, 2008

I think superdelegates were created for a reason…to have a vote that would be placed for the betterment of the Democratic Party and this entire country.

I don’t have a problem with anyone deciding to vote for Obama, but let’s make sure we exercise our vote with intelligence. There are issues with the idealism, rhetoric, and classic oratory speeches that Obama give. There is a question about his experience…with few political accomplishments and time spent. And believe me, I understand that he has worked for the betterment of people for many years and that Dr. King, J.F.K. and the like did not have much experience. But its still an issue. Also, he did vote against the war, but when he was supporting Kerry for the election and was asked how he would vote then, he answered that he did not know. When he has been asked about during this campaign, he stated that he did not want to appear in contradiction to Kerry. Now isn’t that playing the game for political gain? And there’s many issues regarding that, but what’s clear is that he shouldn’t knock Hillary for doing the same.

And yes, they have a great family (or so it appears from the outside) and yes he’s educated and charismatic and he doing right now what few imagined he could and I take my hat off to his success.

But ultimately this is about politics and who will have the best chance of beating McCain. If you look at the states that Obama has carried, the majority of them are red states…which neither Democrat will most likely carry in the general election. And yes, I’m sure that most Democratics who voted for Hillary in their primaries will vote for Obama in the general election.

But if we are talking politics, we have to do more than Hope for a Change!!! He cannot reject debates because it makes his critics have a leg to stand on when they say he has no substance. To carry this country to its first Black president, he has to prove that he can handle Hillary and McCain on the issues and defend his “platform”. Otherwise, Hillary is the strongest candidate…but she’s running against a “movement,” not just a Black man named Obama so he still may be a victor at the DNC without promising anything real!!!

Senator Clinton, who has served only one full term (6yrs.), and another year campaigning, has managed to author and pass into law, (20) twenty pieces of legislation in her first six years.
These bills can be found on the website of the Library of Congress (www.thomas.loc.gov), but to save you trouble, I’ll post them here for you.

    1. Establish the Kate Mullany National Historic Site.
    2. Support the goals and ideals of Better Hearing and Speech Month.
    3. Recognize the Ellis Island Medal of Honor.
    4. Name courthouse after Thurgood Marshall.
    5. Name courthouse after James L. Watson.
    6. Name post office after Jonn A. O’Shea.
    7. Designate Aug. 7, 2003, as National Purple Heart Recognition Day.
    8. Support the goals and ideals of National Purple Heart Recognition Day.
    9. Honor the life and legacy of Alexander Hamilton on the bicentennial of his death.
    10. Congratulate the Syracuse Univ. Orange Men’s Lacrosse Team on winning the championship.
    11. Congratulate the Le Moyne College Dolphins Men’s Lacrosse Team on winning the championship.
    12. Establish the 225th Anniversary of the American Revolution Commemorative Program.
    13. Name post office after Sergeant Riayan A. Tejeda.
    14. Honor Shirley Chisholm for her service to the nation and express condolences on her death.
    15. Honor John J. Downing, Brian Fahey, and Harry Ford, firefighters who lost their lives on duty. Only five of Clinton’s bills are, more substantive. 16. Extend period of unemployment assistance to victims of 9/11.
    17. Pay for city projects in response to 9/11
    18. Assist landmine victims in other countries.
    19. Assist family caregivers in accessing affordable respite care.
    20. Designate part of the National Forest System in Puerto Rico as protected in the wilderness preservation system.

There you have it, the fact’s straight from the Senate Record.

Now, I would post those of Obama’s, but the list is too substantive, so I’ll mainly categorize.
During the first (8) eight years of his elected service he sponsored over 820 bills. He introduced
    233 regarding healthcare reform,
125 on poverty and public assistance,
    112 crime fighting bills,
    97 economic bills,
60 human rights and anti-discrimination bills,
    21 ethics reform bills,
    15 gun control,
6 veterans affairs and many others.

His first year in the U.S. Senate, he authored 152 bills and co-sponsored another 427. These inculded
**the Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 (became law),
**The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act, (became law),
**The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act, passed the Senate,
**The 2007 Government Ethics Bill, (became law),
**The Protection Against Excessive Executive Compensation Bill, (In committee), and many more.

So tell me where exactly he is lacking experience or failed to put in significan political contributions. What you should understand is that people (Like Congress for instance) are not comprised of just one party, one race, one gender, etc. You don’t create a movement by sitting around quoting facts. McCain tries to do that…look at his crowds in comparison. People want to be inspired. Barack does his share of speaking to facts in meetings with GM, etc. He also speaks to facts at the what 18? debates that have taken place.

When is enough, enough? I don’t think that question can be answered when your dead set against hearing the message.

  20. Justin on February 15th, 2008

No tw…Not all people who are not supporting Barack Obama are white. I’m as black as you, and I’m not supporting someone because he’s black like many African-Americans are. I’m going to make my descision based on the issues and not the skin color.

  21. Martin on February 15th, 2008

It’s sad to see so many people put Obama on a pedestal so soon. Now if he makes it in the White House and does nothing about the issues he’s run on then what are you all going to do? Turn your back on him and call him everything in the book, just like you are doing George Bush….Go Hillary! Hillary 08!

  22. carolyn on February 15th, 2008

It is nothing freer than a white man and a black woman. The white men are voting for Obama what do that tell you. Let me play devil’s advocate for a moment what if we are falling for the usual game. Knock Hilary off because the republicans think that trick will work like it did before. I say to the super delegates vote your heart this time that is the what Obama bring to this campaign and person that is God like and humble and have the love for the people look at the crowds he drawing.

  23. otimio vasquez on February 16th, 2008

hillary clinton the politician that says she has been in politics for years and has more experience your incompetent and a looser because the stock market is going down and millions of people are losing there homes and high gasoline prices and a war that you voted for that now you want to abandon our troops in iraq why vote for a known loser

  24. otimio vasquez on February 16th, 2008

Barack Obama for president i hope the black leaders start to support Barack for years all I heard was stay in school educate yourself and you can reach the american dream of a better life barack obama did that and now is running to be president of the united states and americans from all races are supporting him

  25. Jean on February 16th, 2008

The government is broken. Everything that is going on in the economy is about OIL..Barack Obama is addressing issues that affect all people, our american people are out of work, why?because the jobs were sent overseas, our teachers are not paid well, our children are out there, our senior’s can’t afford to live, people are losing their jobs, homes, credit, etc. Mr. Obama will be a fresh breath of air sitting at the table with world leaders and I believe he can work with all people and that world leaders will listen to him and work with him. Question to ask who out-sourced the jobs here in the United States? This country is great, but now we have problems and our people are hurting. What contracting company is benefiting from the war? People are far more knowledgable than the present administration thinks. The Clinton’s also assumed they were the shoe in, people are watching closely and listening and doing a lot of research, that is why Barack Obama is receiving such great support, I voted for him after the last debate between, Clinton, Edwards and Barack and that made up my mind.

  26. jharve44 on February 16th, 2008

The american people have finally woken up and are picking a candidate not based on race, gender or status but quality and substance. Barack Obama is clearly the best person to lead this country, despite all the tricks that the clinton campain and its supporters have tried. Currently Clintons top campain people are at each others throat and this ii just another example that she can not run her own house well let alone the country.

    MIKE, MIKE, MIKE, MIKE, MIKE,
you probably thought no one would go look at the information that you’ve provided above.

    FIRST,
it is clear that you have chosen to include some information, and omit other information.

how about S.CON.RES.10 which honors and praises the NAACP on it’s 98th anniversary? HILLARY sponsored that, but, I don’t see that above? That’s curious. The bill had 31 cosponsors. None of which was Obama, but did include a couple of his establishment friends, Kerry and Kennedy.

how about S.RES.92 which is a resolution calling for the immediate and unconditional release of soldiers of Israel held captive by Hamas and Hezbollah.

    or

S.120 : A bill to establish a grant program for individuals still suffering health effects as a result of the September 11, 2001, attacks in New York City and at the Pentagon.

    or

S.301 : A bill to provide higher education assistance for nontraditional students, and for other purposes.

I don’t think you mentioned any of those? ALSO, it is not a big deal for a senator to attach their name to a bill as a cosponsor. in many cases, this is just for show of support.

MIKE, I also take issue that you were clear to specify clinton authoring AND passing legislation, whereas you only discuss obama’s authoring and sponsoring, and barely discuss legislation that was actually passed.

EXPERIENCE, as defined by Merriam Webster is

1 a: direct observation of or participation in events as a basis of knowledge b: the fact or state of having been affected by or gained knowledge through direct observation or participation.

I would propose that as a child and family advocate lawyer, well-versed in health care issues, the former first lady of arkansas and the united states, and a u.s. senator, clinton is well-positioned to be, and IS MORE EXPERIENCED than obama. PERIOD. she’s more experienced in policy matters, the inner workings of the white house, diplomatic ventures, the economy (remember bill ran on “it’s the economy stupid”). she is largely responsible for “the war room” which changed the way politics worked in america.

so, when is enough enough? when obama proves that he has the bite to back up the bark. still waiting…

  28. Mike on February 16th, 2008

lol Really kris? I didn’t go into it because it would take up pages of blogs. Why don’t you go to Senate.gov and take a look at his record yourself. Also don’t quote “experience” to me. I’ve got my mensa card, where’s yours?

Statistics: Hillary Clinton has sponsored 350 bills since Jan 22, 2001, of which 304 haven’t made it out of committee (Very Poor) and 2 were successfully enacted (Average, relative to peers). Clinton has co-sponsored 1706 bills during the same time period (Average, relative to peers).

Oh and while I’m at it, I hope people are not buying into the recent media hype around whether a woman has it harder than a minority in regard to the political campaign. This is another attempt at misdirection from the issues at hand to playing on gender and race.

We all know Hillary loves to pander to women when it comes to trying to humanize herself in the media but I would ask yourself this question. Who nearly came to tears when asked about the pressures of political campaigning and who, instead, is fighting a political arena on three YES 3 (Hillary, Bill, and now McCain) ronts without so much as faltering and keeps on soldiering forward? There are DAILY attacks on this man from Hillary, Bill, and McCain and yet he keeps on going. I don’t know about you but that’s the kind of president I want especially when dealing with other countries.

  30. Mike on February 16th, 2008

One last thing Kris. I use sites such as the Washington Post, and GovTrack. But for those of you that prefer summaries over the in-depth you have no further to go than http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barack_Obama#109th_Congress

Yep good ol Wiki, and they show all the links they used (included those above) to get their information.

What you find is a man dedicated to civil service. Someone who is extremely educated and has never been afraid to get into the heart of real issues from civil rights (he was a civil rights lawyer btw) and climate change, nuclear terrorism, etc. You name it and you can probably find his involvement.

Lastly, do you really think they let just anyone do the keynote address and then have whispers rippling through both parties, the American people, the internet, etc about him being a future president? So what does it mean? It means that the people saw what I saw, and what I see today. Someone who inspires and someone who can lead this country.

MIKE, you are not doing yourself a service by insulting me or anyone else on this site. i don’t care if you have your mensa card. who, in mensa, walks around advertising that anyway? are you compensating for something????

also, to imply that we cannot use a source like the washington post?! which, like most other papers, is biased and like most other papers is written at a fifth grade reading level. i am actually finishing my masters and have written a conference paper on how obama uses mediated messages to shape his identity. so, you ain’t dealing with no dummy here MR. MIKE!

it is NO coincidence that a presidential bid came out of the 2004 DNC speech. he’s been gunning for this his whole life. (maybe except when he was so coked out of his gourd he couldn’t think straight). his ambitions are no surprise either. one of his half sisters has said (according to the latest Newsweek) that she is afraid he is too ambitious–and that coupled with his perfectionism could lead to problems that their father had.

MIKE, you also didn’t address the EXPERIENCE issue, except to say that he was a civil rights lawyer, and that he’s sponsored lots of legislation. I’M SAYING, that hillary has more of that kinds of experience than obama does. i NEVER once said that obama is inexperienced. just that he doesn’t have the kind of experience that I, as a voter, who has the same say in this election that you do, wants in a president.

don’t be an a$$ on here because you disagree with me. you use ad hominem attacks and leave out truths that are inconvenient to your argument. it seems you’d be smart enough to craft a logical, fact-based argument.

tsk tsk MIKEY, obama would be ashamed.

Not A Single VOTE for Obama-New York? ~~ HERE IS THE SITE WITH THE INFORMATION:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/16/nyregion/16vote.html

Black voters are heavily represented in the 94th Election District in Harlem’s 70th Assembly District. Yet according to the unofficial results from the New York Democratic primary last week, not a single vote in the district was cast for Senator Barack Obama. ~ That anomaly was not unique. In fact, a review by The New York Times of the unofficial results reported on primary night found about 80 election districts among the city’s 6,106 where Mr. Obama supposedly did not receive even one vote, including cases where he ran a respectable race in a nearby district. Thanks for the Web Site - Mike. Yes, interesting reading..

  34. Mike on February 17th, 2008

lol your pretty funny kris getting all upset like that. Truth can be a tough thing to swallow.

On education, I have a Masters degree as well. My sister is working on her doctorate, my father is both a Chemical and Electronic Engineer (yeah 2 Masters), and my Grandfather is a Masters out of MIT. So the point isn’t to talk about your intellectual ability, though you have shown some of that in your posts especially in this one which I will get to, but to point out that I do in fact do my homework when it comes to who I choose to vote for in a Presidential campaign.

Let me correct you again. First of all I didn’t say anything about “we” or “all of you” what I said was you, period. Now if you took it as an insult that I told you and anyone else who likes to stay informed, that you should read up on various links and media outlets then I’m sorry that you have a problem with that.

You will sit there and discount pretty much any piece of material that favors Obama in some way, that much IS clear. It is also clear that despite the multiple links and information I have posted, you still (As I predicted in an earlier post) will not see Obama for the man he is because you refuse to, not because the information isn’t readily available.

You further make my case by making absolutely unintelligent accusations about him being “coked out?” Really? That’s all you got? Sad.

I doubt Obama would be ashamed. Here is my family. http://www.tuskegee.edu/Global/story.asp?S=1144384 One member of which worked closely with Senator Truman whom I’m sure you have issue with as well. My father worked closely with the Red Cross when Katrina hit New Orleans. My family is no novice when it comes to civil service, and yes I’m quite proud of that fact and have no issue with speaking about it. Now if that offends you. Tough.

  35. kris on February 17th, 2008

    MIKE!
you brought up mensa and intelligence and all that, so, i was just responding to you. again, why does it matter how degreed you and your family are?

and correction, you said “those of you that prefer summaries…” so, you referred to multiple readers.

look, i don’t discount obama’s experience. i have, all along, stated that he is, indeed, experienced. but i’ll say it again. in my view, the depth and breadth of experience that hillary has is greater and worth more to me than obama’s. i think he’s intelligent, a good speaker (when he has a script in front of him, which may be why he’s reluctant to impromptu debates) and has some good ideas. but all things being equal, and not voting with my emotions, hillary is the best candidate.

also, obama did coke. he admitted it. that’s not an unintelligent accusation.

lastly, are you and your family running for office? I DON’T CARE about your family.

    HILLARY 2008
    http://www.hillaryclinton.com

  36. kelin on February 17th, 2008

Does anyone know the last time Hillary won a primary or caucus? It has been awhile hasn’t it? Just heard Bill talking about ‘his’ record when he was president…….didn’t know he was in the race.

  37. Mike on February 17th, 2008

    Kris,
What is unintelligent is debating with you. You’re not even in the same field. You brought up education, so I counted you.

The depth you have amounts to the same old remarks everyone else tries to use against Obama that are discounted over and over again. Bring something new or go home.

Really Obama did coke? That’s all you got out of his entire book? Yeah alot of depth there. Did you read Hillary’s either? Doubtful.

And as far as my family, I didn’t say anything about running for office. What your amazing depth doesn’t seem to offer you is the understanding that my experience and decisions come from a family committed to civil service, that understands the hopes, will, struggles and challenges, and hearts of every day people. Experience learned from getting out and doing rather than sitting around and talking and can back it up.

As far as the last time Hillary won a primary or caucus it would be 8 caucuses ago, unless you count New Mexico which I’m sure she does (even though nobody else does). But I think the best part ever was when the Wisconsin Gov Jim Doyle said that Barack Obama doesn’t just pick and choose which states he’s going to caucus in. That was pretty funny.

  38. Neutral on February 17th, 2008

    Kris,

Is it fair to make the drug reference to Obama when Clinton himself admited to doing drugs? Did you vote for Mr. Clinton. Oh that’s right, he was disingenuine about his drug usage, so it’s probably best to just lie about it. He also lied about ‘Monica’ and probably lied about most thiings. I doubt Hillary is that much different from her spouse. He constantly misrepresents most things that comes out of her mouth about Obama. What about Bush admitting to being an alcoholic? Obama admitted to something he did as a minor. He consistently shows integrity which is what America desperately needs today. If we could really get the ‘TRUTH’ from all of our presidential candidates about their illegal drug use, I wonder what that would truly look like. If you feel Obama should be denied an opportunity to be a presidential candidate based on somehting he did as a minor, I hope someone in your lifetime hold you to the same standard in your pursuit of life’s happiness.

  39. kris on February 17th, 2008

NEUTRAL, i think the name is ironic. also, it is fair to make a drug reference about obama. he is a public figure running for the most high profile office in the world. his record should be scrutinized, just like bill clinton’s was for years and years and years. and if obama gets a little heat for bad judgment calls, then good. i think it strengthens the candidate. i don’t think that obama should be denied a shot at the presidency at all based on that. and of course i believe in second chances.

MIKE, i brought up education because you brought up how much smarter and better you are, and i guess, more right than anyone here?

you STILL didn’t address the experience issue.

also MIKE, i would hardly count what’s happening on this blog a “debate”. it is mostly obama supporters trying to crush the views of someone who thinks differently than they do. it’s easy to gang up on someone when everyone thinks exactly the same.

again, i respect obama, and think he is a reputable candidate. i think hillary is the better choice. why am i a bad person, or unintelligent for disagreeing with you? sounds like what the republicans were doing back around the iraq war. you’re either with us, or against us. i think obama supporters sometimes suffer from groupthink.

i, too, have experiences and a family history that influences my decisions. you are not alone. because you have a different family history than me doesn’t discount my experiences or my opinions. again, obama would be ashamed of the kind of ad hominem attacks his supporters are exhibiting toward people who think differently than they do. if you look back at all of my postings, i have not ONCE attacked you or anyone here. i have addressed the candidates and their issues in a civil and logical way.

MIKE, or anyone else for that matter, answer these two questions:

if hillary and obama were applying for an office job, and you knew nothing about them other than what they represent on their resumes, and all things were equal, who would you give the job to?

    and

would all of the hillary and bill bashing be going on if obama wasn’t in the race? it wasn’t that long ago that bill was a hero amongst african americans, and now that hillary is running against obama, they are the devils. confuses me?

    warm regards,
kris, grad student and sam’s club card holder.

  40. Mike on February 17th, 2008

    Kris,

not only did I discuss the experience non-issue, but I beat you over the head with it with links to plans, links to backgrounds, links to accomplishments, links to what he has done for the American people. You can lead a horse to water…The only thing one could ask at this point is what YOU personally think is experience that is impactful to you rather than the American people as a whole.

First of all the presidency is a little beyond an office job and both are far overqualified for that type of position looking at resumes. So what you must be asking me to do is to dumb down their experience and somehow make it fit into your scenario. Here is a better idea. They are both applying for the Oval office job and I wouldn’t need to know anything but their records and service to the American people from their education to what they accomplished in college and how they carried that in the years beyond to know hands down that I would vote for Obama.

Now does that say I disrespect Clinton for her own experience as a politician? No. Her resume is an impressive one but for me and for a variety of reasons those experiences are not what I want in the position of President. I never said they were the Devil either and I have stated that they have done some good work in the past for people including minorities. But when things are bad all around and people are given a little taste of the things they should have gotten all along then they mount on the praises, as for me I’m not willing to become blindly loyal to the Clintons just because they made some accomplishments. This time around I want a complete change not just the same old merry go round politics. I want an overhaul. Mrs. Clinton just missed the FISA vote and had a chance to make a statement on the Telecom immunities that Bush is trying to hide behind.

I think we get more of the status quo and for those that want that then yeah Hillary is your answer. I personally want not only change in the white house but serious maybe even what would be considered by some to be radical change. Once you start talking about that kind of change is when people get scared. Well I’m not scared. I know what we’ve been doing, I know that that is a bunch of political circles, and I know that it gets very little accomplished especially in a world where Globalization is on our front doorsteps and countries like India and China aren’t going to wait around for us to finally get it. They are ahead of us in Education, the are ahead of us in Technology, they are pulling away from us in economic strength…and with that being the case the old idea of “We are America, our way or the highway.” just plain won’t work anymore and against say a China could have some severe impacts I don’t even want to imagine considering they have the largest standing army in the world. We’ve got to start thinking about playing in a global environment and that means first rebuilding America in a way that keeps our jobs at home, that puts a serious emphasis on education, that ends foreign dependencies, and strengthens our economy. Then with all that said we have to be willing to do some strong diplomacy but diplomacy works a hell of alot better when your the most skilled and powerful player on the field…and we are losing serious ground here.

Obama addresses my issues and I think he has plans that will place the US in a position as a leader and I feel he will do that by first internalizing the political focus to grass roots issues here at home. Things like stemming the tide of corporations sending our jobs overseas..things like our education system which is falling so far behind other countries it can barely compete. I believe he will finally fix the US first before trying to go out as the police and savior of other countries.

That is why I am voting for him.

  41. 4WOMAN on February 17th, 2008

    I <3 KRIS:)

YES, some BET people actually vote more than by heritage and hype… no one is perfect not in life or politics and that includes both candidates but if you looked at the Bio’s and res. of both without knowing who is who - guess what Obama and his I would never vote for the war is a false argument - he never could because he never was in politics long enough to be in a position to - nice try but educated voters don’t fall for the political spin + the obama girl and obama has way too much in common - they both have a really bad voting record as att. goes and if peole are voting because they like the idea obama represents more than the reality - god help those who do - voters who think of themselves as human 1st vote based on the best qualified human for the job start to finish - need before want - I VOTE HILL - bet founder had every right to defend her and point out to the obama cult the great and powerful o is not as perfect as uneducated voters think - we have a right to know as much as o as we do as H or latter we will wish we had for everybody’s sake - I care more about the voters who got jacked in florida & mich than any candidate - if you don’t you might as well lie to yourself that you are not full of discrimination and are unfair and unbalanced in what is really going on!

    You go KRIS!:)

  42. lilbaby26 on February 17th, 2008

blame mi and fl for moving their primary’s up against the rules, not the candidates.

  43. kris on February 17th, 2008

MIKE, i don’t agree, but i understand what you are saying.

LILBABY26, there was an interesting discussion on meet the press this morning. those in hillary’s camp want to count michigan and florida’s votes. makes sense. they SHOULD be counted. BUT, the rules of the DNC were that if they moved their primaries, then they would lose delegates. as far as I know, all candidates agreed they understood and would abide by these rules.

similarly, all candidates entered the race with the understanding that superdelegates played a role in the race, especially if the race was close. but now, those in obama’s camp think that superdelegates should either vote the way of popular opinion, or that superdelegates shouldn’t be counted at all in this election.

both the michigan/florida issue, and the superdelegates issue have to do with the will of the people, right? so, should we count mich/florida and allow the superdelegates to vote what they feel, or don’t count mich/florida and pressure the superdelegates to vote popular opinion or exclude their votes entirely?

    anyone?

  44. 4WOMAN on February 17th, 2008

WE ARE THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA: Before we were all born men and woman have put their lives in battle and service and protest in every way for that fact that is our reality now. How dare anyone have any reason for siding with political parties over the people - When Al Gore and Bush ran and Florida sup court sided with a candidate over the people it was the worst day in American history aside from 911 I had ever seen - maybe worse because who knows if Al Gore would have done better - now we forever have to wonder what if. The problem with Florida and Michigan no matter who you side with is that the people voted for hillary - it was also the candidates decision to side with the DNC and leave their names on the ballot or side with THE PEOPLE over the party - HILL was the ONLY one! In Florida all two candidates were on the ballot but voted hill. Most did not know till after about the rules - most voted based on thinking their votes would in fact be counted. Regardless…

IF THIS IS THE UNITED STATES - AND EACH VOTE EFFECTS THE OTHER - I HAD A RIGHT TO KNOW IN ADVANCED AS WELL…

ALL OTHER STATES SHOULD HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN THIS DECISION & WHAT IF YOUR VOTE WAS TAKEN AWAY? It’s like saying…

    NO

    YOU CAN’T RESPOND.

YOU CAN’T cOMMENT ON WHAT I JUST SAID…

ME AND THIS DNC JUST SAID YOU WHOLE STATE CAN’T HAVE FREEDOM OF SPEECH DURING THIS PRIMARY ELECTION…

OTHER STATES CAN - BUT YOU CAN’T

    SORRY

    IT’S THE RULES,

    SHH

    SHSHHH

SHUT UP! ‘CAUSE WE SAID SO - IT’S the RRRRRUUUULLLES!

The “RULE” is #1 WE THE PEOPLE VOTE - NOT SOME - BUT THE WHOLE UNITED STATES -

You think African Americans have had it worse than woman in the whole world history? Do your homework people.

    HUMAN 1st or…

Otherwise give the country back to TRIBAL AMERICA & CALL IT A DAY - NO POINT IN HAVING WARS IN OTHER COUNTRIES SO PEOPLE CAN VOTE IF WE CAN’T EVEN VOTE HERE.

I thought Florida would never happen, then it did again + Michigan…

WE ……………………. YOU ARE VERY NIEVE IF YOU THINK THAT YOUR VOTE - YOUR SATE COULD NOT BE NEXT IF WE DON”T PUT ASIDE WHO WE WANT TO WIN FOR ALL OF US WHO MAY ALREADY LOOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GOD HELP THE STUPID VOTERS WHO DON’T CARE.

  45. 4WOMAN on February 17th, 2008

    P.S.

Didn’t Obama say we were the US of America… ONE he said? ACTIONS DO SPEAK LODER - I VOTE HILL.

  46. JAY on February 18th, 2008

You have got to kidding me. She won Florida from name recognition. I live in Florida and the people knew that their would not count. It was on the radio and in the news every day up to the election. The rules were set in stone after Governor Charlie Crist and the Florida legislators moved up the election date. She agreed to those rules with the other candidates. The DNC warned voters that they would boycott the state. You are right actions do speak louder than words and when you agree and sign something stating that no campaign shall recognize the state of Florida or Michigan then you need to hold your end of the bargain. What does that say about her. To me it that it says I can change the rules whenever it is convient for me. Whats so funny about this is that they have her on tape and in quote in news papers stating that these 2 states don’t matter before her whipping in SC. It didn’t matter until she took that whipping in SC that all of this came to fold. GOD also help those in the states that doesn’t matter to the Clinton Campaign. The 19 to 20 states that he did win to her mere 9. Dont even try to count FLORIDA and MICHIGAN. Mr. Obama is trying to be the president of the united states not NEW YORK, CALIFORNIA, and the other big population states with the high delegate counts. Those states she won are BLUE states anyway. Any Democrat would win there in the primary election. If you feel your candidate can win these states then why dont she bid for a do over. She supposed to be this super confident woman with extrodinary abilities to get things done. Then why no a do over. She wont win and she knows it.

  47. Joe Domingaux on February 18th, 2008

Hello all, things are looking very well in Texas. George Lopez endorsement for Obama in Houston yesterday was a boost in the Latino community. I think Obama has closed the gap, and even maybe slightly leading in Texas. In Texas there is the Primary and Caucus. Havent been on the boards as much lately, yet I love the exchange and continued pushed for CHange. Continued great posts Kelin and Mike. Kris good posts as well, you help us to continue our talking points.

In relation to Lewis and other Superdelegates. These SuperDelegates as we remember are still either elected officials or Party electees, the last thing they would want to do is go against the Will of the People, or shall I say the Will of the Vote that could take them out of office.

As for Texas again we are involved in voluteer efforts in Houston tomorrow, as well as Obama’s big rally on Tuesday. Look for up to 25,000. All those in Texas, Ohio, and Wisconsin this week if you are near by or want to do a road trip, would love to see the you. Most of all get the Word out to vote. :)

  48. lilbaby26 on February 18th, 2008

kris, i still believe that they should vote on the will of the people. do you remember what happened back in 2000 when george bush “stole” the election from gore? imagine what kind of place we’d be in if the electoral college and the supreme court actually went with the will of the people and not acted as if we can’t decide for ourselves who should run this country. i saw meet the press this morning. no one thought that this was going to be a tight race and mi anf fl new the rules way in advance. hillary mentioned that they weren’t going to count anyway so why bother? the primaries were going to be wrapped up by feb 5th so who cared? did you catch that spot were she said that on MTP back in december?

  49. kris on February 18th, 2008

JAY, you conveniently didn’t address the superdelegate issue. my point in asking the question was to see if i could get an answer that didn’t take into account one candidate’s best interests over another.

as a HILLARY 2008 supporter, i believe that not only should michigan and florida count, but we should also get rid of the super delegate system. now, obama gained 9 superdelegate votes and hillary lost 5 since last week, so i’m not hearing the “get rid of the superdelegate system” argument as much from the obama supporters. but, i think the general sentiment of the american people is that it SHOULD NOT override the will of the american people. my position is that DNC rules should also not ignore the will of the good people of michigan and florida. BUT, the dnc rules and the superdelegate system were both in place when these candidates embarked on this journey, and they KNEW the ramifications.

is that a valid argument? what say the obama supporters?

(p.s. we know how effective florida is as far as elections are concerned. i wouldn’t trust an election official from florida if my life depended on it)

  50. CHARLOTTE on February 18th, 2008

The only thing tat I have to say is……Hillary has so much to offer but, nothing was offered during her years in the whitehouse with Bill. Isn’t it strange how she is willing to do so much and had the opportunity and did NOTHING!!!!!! Where were all these plans back then???????

  51. January Jeffries on February 18th, 2008

I have been sitting at my computer for the last hour reading the dialogues between Kris and Mike and to say the least am impressed at the intelligence of both. It seems to me that the overall picture is sadly blurred. Now while I agree with the both of you on most point that were well taken I ask this- Do you put as much passion in getting out into the inner cities and teaching young black sisters and brothers how not to buy into the hype of drugin ‘n” drama? Folks are arguing about the war andwho will end it and other oppresive issues but I declare, I haven’t seen one iota of mention on how we are going to save our youth! Would’nt it be amazing if Hillaary won and chose Obama as her vice prez and vice-versa for Obama. Now that would give the people power for real! I hate to be a pull out the past statements kinda person, but I remember brother Malcolm asking the question, “what’s the difference between a fox and a wolf”- they both will eat you! Point- health care is a true issue, war in the east is a true issue, taxation without representation is a dam good issue, but who cares if our kids are being murdered in the streets by themselves and the cops who hide behind the law! Come on ya’ll we cannot afford to miss the division tactics that this whole political arena has fashioned. As for me, I want to hear SOMEBODY talk about what they are going to do to keep drugs out of our communities- the last I learned is that our kids don’t have the money or the means to get past customs to bring the dope in and then who is policing the police??? Don’t forget the carloads of guns and drugs dropped off in Watts and how it messed up that community when the Sons of Watts was trying to clean it up- Who said willie lynch was dead? think about it- What are either of them Hill/Oba going to do about cleaning up our streets- We ARE the people.

    I’m outta here!

Just a sista from the hood that God saved!

    January

  52. lilbaby26 on February 18th, 2008

january, they(obama and hillary) have been both open about these issues. check their websites. in the audacity of hope, he has a section about the youth and inner city issues.

  53. jfffnn on February 18th, 2008

The super delegate situation can become explosive if they don’t vote along with the popular vote. The situation will also be explosive if the Democratic party does not find a way to reconize the votes of both Florida and Michigan, the last thing the Dems. want is too be viewed as the party that excluded votes for a stupid reason.Howard Dean should find a way too bring those primary vote into the fold, other wise they will be seen as being exclusionary.I really don’t think that folks will sit this election out,the last thing needed is another four years(100 years) of WAR !!!.Vote DEMOCRATIC to end the FIASCO and too bring about Universal Healthcare.

  54. christy341 on February 18th, 2008

I have read interesting books on Hillary Clinton’s life in the Whitehouse. Anyone interested can just go to any library there are rows and rows of boos written about Senator Clinton.

The thing I’ve gotten out of the few that I read is that this is a woman who has been gunning for the Presidency since before she married Bill Clinton. She had these aspirations not out of duty to our country but out of sheer EGO.

While in the Whitehouse there were several scandals that all led back to Hillary Clinton herself. There was Filegate and Travelgate and of course her destruction of the Vince Foster files. All of this happened and she got away with it. The thing that disturbs me most about Hillary Clinton is her ability to break the law without a sweat. I have heard her speak as she yells and holds up boxing gloves and berates Senator Obama and she is desperate now and it shows.

Before everyone goes around blindly supporting Hillary Clinton lets look at her lifetime of 35 years in politics. She throws it out there so now it’s time to really dig deep and find out what she is about. Is she about Cattle futures, Whitewater, and Tyson foods affiliation?

She said she spent years fighting for childrens rights but she used that platform to fufill other less popular goals. She diverted monies for these so called “children” to Political parties and to further her advancement in politics.

She sat on Walmart’s Board as a token”woman” but did little to help with worker’s rights; labor abuses or stop illegal trade practices.

I am going book by book on the life and legacy of Mrs. Clinton and what I find is that she is not interested in the “People” of the United States she is only interested in the “Power” of the Presidency.

    Don’t be fooled.

  55. kris on February 18th, 2008

    CHRISTY341,
that’s good you’re a reader. we need more of those. what we also need more of is discerning readers. that is, readers who can see a text for what it is. here’s the deal with books on hillary clinton. if the author likes her, then that will be reflected in the book. if the author doesn’t like her, that will also be reflected in the book. and there are A LOT of right wingers who don’t like her, and have written books comparing her to lady macbeth and yadda yadda.

i’m glad she’s ambitious. i want an ambitious president. i would propose that obama has been thinking about this much of his adult life as well. you don’t take the kind of steps either of them has taken without that being in the back of your head. AND, every presidential candidate, EVERY ONE, is motivated in some part by their ego. one of obama’s half sisters even said that she is afraid barack is too ambitious and too much a perfectionist.

so, they ALL have their flaws.

and are we STILL talking about those “scandals?” i have one for you: obama snorted coke and smoked marijuana. should he not be able to run for president because of it?

let’s give the tired scandal thing a rest and look at the real issues and real differences between these candidates.

I dont think the superdelegate is an issue at the moment because it can go both ways. I can see if all the superdelagates had chosen sides but half are neutral. No one has a clue how this is going to play out. Everything is speculation at the moment. I will not start thinking about that issue untill the process has played itself out where we the voters can figure out who has the most delegates, most states won and has the popular vote. I believe the neutral superdelegates will go with the candidate that has 2 out 3 of those attributes I stated above. At this moment it seems Obama is going to end up with all three.

  58. lilbaby26 on February 19th, 2008

kris, i actually agree with you. don’t buy these autobiography books if the person memoir’d has not written the book. they are mostly written by people who have an axe to grind.

  59. Joe Domingaux on February 19th, 2008

Election Day again. Lets do it! As you see there is the push to discredit Obama on character issues now. THEY WILL certainly turn up the heat as expected. Hillary latest attempts, her plagerism accusation of Obama,as well as claiming his as dishonest

I guess many have forgotten that many great inspirations were taken directly from colleagues are contemporaries. One the most notable, founding father Thomas Jefferson almost direct quote from Thomas Paine, Common Sense, in regards to self evidents truths that all men deserve the right to life, liberty, and persuit of happiness.

Are great words any less great ofsubstance because of origin?

Yet nevertheless for the arguement of those who say this is a character issue of being dishonest, moreover that Hillary being a disciple of Bill holds great merit. Thats look at some of the less than honest things the CLintons, more specificially our past president has been caught in the past:

July 1991: Question: “Have you ever used Marijuana or any illegal drugs?” Answer: “I’ve never broken any drug law.” - Arkansas Gazette, July 24th, 1991, p. 8B
Asked this 3 times, on 3 separate occasions, by 3 different interviewers, your Great White Hope repeated this claim. Until faced with irrefutable proof, that is.

    Then he said:

March 29th, 1992: “I’ve never broken a state law. But when I was in England I experimented with marijuana a time or two…”

Later, in that same interview, “No one has ever asked me that question point-blank.”

    - The New York Times, March 30th, 1992, p.A15.

February 2008 at the forum in Los Angeles, Hillary Clinton declared, “We bombed them for days in 1998 because Saddam Hussein threw out inspectors.”

That statement was totally false. The bombing campaign had been planned for months and the inspectors were not thrown out. They were ordered out by President Bill Clinton in anticipation of the four-day U.S.-led bombing campaign.

Destruction or Hiding of Documents. November 1997, a mechanic discovered a stash of Whitewater documents, including a check made out to Bill Clinton from Whitewater partner Jim McDougal, in the trunk of a tornado-damaged Mercury Marquis. Clinton claimed he never borrowed money from his felonious business partner, but the check matched the amount of a Whitewater loan repayment. Only NBC broadcast a full story.

Keeping Meetings Secret by Filing False Statements. Judge Royce Lamberth fined the White House nearly $286,000 during the Clinton Whitehouse for its misleading testimony in a lawsuit demanding open meetings by the Clinton health plan task force.

And of course you know the rest” I did not have relations” you get the point.

So lets not getr careless, yet remain vigilant as we grasp closer to the ulitmate prize. Remember those in TEXAS can vote TWICE on Election Day. once before 7pm in the Primary, an at 7pm of the Democratic caucus. Ohio, Penn, go GET OUT THE VOTE!!

  60. adnaw6 on February 19th, 2008

the florida and michigan delegates have been seated. you cant change your mind because hillary is losing. Is this a wishy washy country? there was no mention of the delegates there until hillarys butt started losing. if anything the delegates should be split, whats her next trick?

  61. jfffnn on February 19th, 2008

    adaw6
The Florida and Michigan delegates have not really been seated since both of those primaries were disqualified by the Dem.National Party which is why there is a ruckus over the delegates. Now the party is tring too figure out a way too seat the delegates. One idea is too hold a caucus in Mich. and try too have some sort of contest in Florida where Sen. Obama was not on the ballot.

  62. jfffnn on February 19th, 2008

Pardon typo - “trying” it should have read.

  63. christy341 on February 19th, 2008

Well the books I read were not by people with Axes to grind. Actually two books were written by Hillary Clinton herself or her ghost writers who she gives no credit to.

One book was written by an ex-campaign staffer who resigned after the Travelgate scandal.

Point is this, there is too much scandal in the Clinton name. Even now she is currently involved in a case where they illegally accepted campaign financing in the form of a fund raiser that raised millions for her Senate bid.

She plays the game well and is good at trying to bend the rules. I am just frankly sick of it. We need Barack Obama. Now I don’t think he is perfect but he has new ideas and a blue print for the betterment of this country. And when he speaks of the future I believe his interest is really and truly on getting us back to being the most respected super power.

If Hillary could stop trying to dig dirt on Obama long enough to have one SINCERE thought come out of her mouth than I could perhaps understand her climb to power and how she sold herself and her feminists belief out for the power of politics.

As a woman I want a woman for president who can look in the mirror and respect herself not one who has too many skeletons in her closet. Not a woman who changes herself daily to please others. One who doesn’t allow her husband to denegrate the sanctity of marriage. I want the first woman president to be someone my daughter can look up to. This isn’t the case with Senator Clinton.

She is polarizing, offensive to minorities and women and disrespectful to those who disagree with her. This isn’t what we need as the highest elected official of our land.

Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton both have great policies and plans but which one of them have the ability to listen to differing viewpoints and to accept that they won’t always be right? Which one can stand before America and the world and talk about Family Values? Which candidate can run a transparent and open government without secret meetings? I think clearly the democratic candidate is Barack Obama.

  64. Mary Bryant on February 23rd, 2008

I ask that the Lord watch over Hillary and protect her and send her straight through to the White House as President. I ask that the Lord open the eyes of our countrymen so that each and every voting person casts their votes in favor of Hillary in the White House.

I ask that the Lord show the world that Obama is an OBVIOUS reminder to Osama, an evil wrong doing never to be forgotten. I ask that the Lord rebuke Obama from the Presidential race and that Obama drops out of the race and our minds forever.

    Don’t tread on me.
