Edwards Endorsing Obama?

Posted Feb. 20, 2008 – Could former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards (D) be ready to endorse Sen. Barack Obama? I spoke with Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.) earlier today and he told me, “I know them both well, and their good friends, the issue isn’t if he’s going to do it, it’s when.”
Conyers the dean of the Congressional Black Caucus signed on early to support the freshman senator’s run for the White House.
Conyers told me, he hopes it happens before March 4, “For two reasons – Ohio and Texas.”
Do you think an Edwards endorsement would help Obama?
By the way, does anyone know that Cindy McCain, the women, JM married when she was 25 and left his family for, so he could launch his political career with her money is a former drug addict.

i think it would help obama only because it would put him in the news. i think most of edwards’ supporters had moved on to new candidates anyhow. edwards is not a significant enough figure to really matter as far as an endorsement goes.

Of course, any endorsement from superdelegates will help. Edwards’ influence will also help Obama; but the truth is that Obama has been doing well by himself. I am so proud of him and proud of my people for believing in his message.

The “REAL” Democratic Party Dream Ticket for middle class america is Obama/Edward!
This will of course make a difference, not from the point of view of a great boost in delegates. But more from a credible message view point. Edwards has been the biggest proponent of poverty reduction and equality and this means a lot in the states of Texas and Ohio (particularly Ohio). Clinton has been trying to get to the same base and if Edwards endorses Obama in the next few days, it will propel the last few blue-collared workers in the Clinton camp towards Obama.
I think that it is good that John Edwards would want to endorse Obama because not only his vote, but his influence could be the deciding factor on Obama being our next democratic nominee….I dislike Bill O’Reily more than the next person, but I have to stick up for him a little bit..just like we have been voicing our opinions, that’s all he was doing. That’s why you haven’t heard it on the news, cause it’s not that serious!!Although it was a bad analogy he is just saying that Bill Clinton is being criticize for everything that comes out of his mouth (for good reason)for campaigning and sticking up for his wife, when Michelle Obama has been doing the same thing for her husband with no real bad publicity like Clinton has had.. In short, uneless there is incriminating evidence don’t be pissed off just because he’s passionate about supporting his wife!!!

This is where our society has become jaded to the N-word, Lynching, and a dozen other things. No we are not afraid of O’Reilly lynching Michell Obama but should we be concerned that this word is thrown around freely lately as it relates to African Americans….Tiger Woods, Jenna 6, now Michelle Obama. Whether her choice of words were good or bad…is irrelevant…
The word lyching is what it is….so if you or anyone else is ok with it being spoken, then at what point does it become ok that it is done to people.

With the Teamsters endorsement, which should solidify the Midwest morer. The huge African American population in the South, the Edwards endorsement would be beneficial yet not mandatory for success for Obama. Edwards endorsement would be a great solidarity gesture, moreover for a candidate needing the lower socialeconomic class southern vote. Obama will have the Southern vote regardless because of the demographics in the rural and urban southern populations as well as the upper class educated voters in the larger southern suburbs like Houston, Dallas,Potomac regions, and Miami. THis election with come down to 2 main issues in a General Election: Economy and Foreign Policy.
Look for increase troubles or perceived ones at the very least with Iran and Pakistan. Also watch out for the Balkans as well, with the recognition of Kosovo. It could upset the stability of that region.
In addition the increase news of the economic downturn. Fed predicted higher unemployment and continuing housing problems will be key to all Americans.
McCain will use these issues to push his case for Commander and Chief. Obama will push that Change is needed, for what we did in the past in regards to these fail policies has gotten us into this situation in the first place.
As for Obama and Clinton remaining battles, Edward;s endorsement here or there will have little impact now. …IT all Comes to Texas and Ohio.Particularly Texas which is a very large,different, and complex make up. Very urban yet rural populations. 2 of the nations top 5 cities sit there. Very conservative in East Texas, yet very Liberal in Central Texas near Austin.
I think the winning key to Obama victory will be his domination in Houston and Dallas, as well as the split of the two other Million plus population cities Austin and San Antonio. With the twice voting system (primary and caucus) that day, Hillary’s supporters mostly rural and more economically challenged voters in South,West, and East Texas, it maybe harder for them to get the voter polling stations twice that day.
It would be a true dream team if Barack Obama chose John Edwards as his VP. That’s Change we can believe in!!!

Senator Obama needs to come out swinging at tonights debate because you know she will be on the attack. I am very worried about the debate and I hope he calls her on her lack of transparency regarding her years in the Whitehouse. Why are they still hiding the Clinton Papers? I hope he calls her on the fact that she won’t release her 2007 tax returns.
Also I hope he points out that we live in a democracy and last time I checked “mandated” health care where the government garnishes your paycheck feels more like a dictatorship. No one should “MANDATE” anything to a nation of FREE PEOPLE!

Throughout this whole soap opera (because that’s all the media is making it out to be), I’ve read a lot of blogs, suggestions, comments and statements. some of them made sense, while others did not. first of all, I live in perhaps the most redneck, good ole boy state in the entire nation. (South Carolina to be exact). We all know that Obama completely trounced the Wicked witch of the West, east, North, and South here. I was VERY impressed of how the young black community here FINALLY took a stand and did something that we as a race should have been doing from day one, and that is getting involved in our community and our world. Do you all realize if we take the necessary steps toward mutual participation as a race WE CAN HAVE A HUGE CHUNK OF THIS WORLD?! I think Bill was a cool prez when he served. Don’t get me wrong, he changed the economy a lot and produced a lot of jobs and restored hope back to America. I give him that much credit. But on the other hand, the scutinizing and barbaric campaign that him is his wife is running is VERY racially motivated. Yeah, that’s right. This whole racial thing started with Bill right here in South Carolina. (I know you all heard about this). It seems to me that this is all because a black man is in the picture. Do you all think for a second if Obama and not Edwards dropped out of this race it would be all of this crap going on?! HELL NO!!! WHY? BECAUSE A BLACK MAN WOULD NOT BE IN THE PICTURE! THAT’S WHY!! You know, I’m a huge fan of Tom Joyner, and I listen to his show just about every morning right here in Charleston, SC. (Thanx to Majic 107.5). I remember him saying when this announcement first came fom Senator Obama alerting the world that he was running for president. Mr Joyner bluntly and sternly said, “IF WE AS BLACK PEOPLE DON’T STICK TOGETHER AND COME TOGETHER AS A RACE AND SUPPORT BARACK, WE MAY NEVER GET THIS CHANCE AGAIN!!!” I remember those words as clearly as today is Thursday. Don’t worry about the dirty politics the Clintons and the Republicans are playing. Don’t worry about all the racist comments that are being directed at Mr. Obama and his family. Don’t worry about all the scrutiny, bad talk, and the way their trying to drag him. God has sent that man here for a purpose and a reason. The Bible tells you the unjust never prospers. the Bible also tells you the first will be last and the last will be first. They talk about Huckabee, but that man is a Baptist preacher who has been annoited by God. He said faith and not ego is what’s keeping him in this race. This is why he won’t bow out even though the enemy is pressuring him to. My sister is an ordained minister. She is a certified theologist, a devout Christian, and a true server of the Lord. She told me just the other day that God has already set certain provisions for a man and a woman. and a woman being the leader of a nation IS NOT ONE OF THEM! That’s the Word, that’s the Law, and that is the one of the provisions that He has laid out. I don’t know if anyone sits back and contemplate these thing, BUT IT’S SOMETHING TO DEFINATELY PONDER. THERE’S NO WAY EVE COULD GO BEFORE ADAM BECAUSE THAT’S JUST NOT THE WAY THAT GOD HAD IT SET UP. REMEMBER, HE CREATED ADAM 1ST. EVE CAME SHORTLY THEREAFTER. Hillary Clinton isn’t being held accountable for her secrecy and deceptive practices while at the Whitehouse. The secret meeting regarding healthcare or “hillarycare” as it was dubbed. Her private staffing staging area dubbed “Hillaryland” as you can see it’s always about Hillary and her thirst for power.
Her connection to travel gate. Where she called for the firing of the travel staff of the whitehouse so that she could put in her friends and family. The renting out of the Lincoln Bedroom. The scandal with Vince Foster her ex law partner who couldn’t take all the secrecy and killed himself. She entered his office and stole work documents. I could go on and on for days about how she runs her life and her non-existent integrity.
Release the papers from the Clinton Whitehouse and let the American people know more about her dealings behind those Whitehouse doors.
Release the 07 tax returns so Americans can see what kinds of corporations she and her husband are in bed with.
What’s with the secrecy Hillary Clinton? What is she really afraid we will find out?
Obama/Edwards would be the dream ticket.

Andre, get your head out of the sand! It WAS said by Bill O’Reilly, loud and clear! No, of course you would not hear it on BET. They’re not playing or saying it on there, BUT, I’ve heard it on several other cable channels. No, we will not forget ANYTHING! There are going to be some repercussions and consequences about his remarks. Its already in the works. And, don’t even pray for John Edwards to endorse Sen Obama. That would be a short road to his end. If he endorses Sen OB, then it would be expected for Sen OB to select him as VP! (The only reason he would endorse him in the first place). Think, think, think, and be blessed!
It is hard to take any “journalist” seriously when they cannot muster the correct choice of their/they’re. I say this as an Obama supporter inclined to want to believe this. But I just can’t take the writer seriously.
The New York Times is not stupid enough to post something of such a horrendous nature without having some type of proof. They can’t take the chance of being held liable, (law suit). Think, think, think.

here’s the deal. it’s so easy to bash on hillary and bill because they have experience. experience with policy, experience DOING things, and not just TALKING. obama has gotten by so far because there isn’t much of a record to bash. and sure, someone will list every bill he’s ever sponsored or whatever in the senate, but quantity is no match for quality. and certainly no match for quantity AND quality.

I agree with your post, Jonathan Williams. This race definitely has spiritual ties. When I observe Obama, I see something special. I see something that transcends his race and the negativity and racism of America. It took me awhile to figure out what was so special about him. And then it clicked, I am reminded of David and Joseph in the Bible. I am reminded of all their good qualities and how it was often noted that, additionally, “God was with them.” I believe God is with Obama. I believe Obama has the favor of God on his life - he is annointed. He has been chosen, selected by God for such a time as this. Obama running for President is his purpose. It is his destiny. I don’t exactly know how all this is going to turn out, but I think he will prevail as the winner. One thing is for sure, “If God be for you, who can be against you?”
Get real Hillary’s leadership will not be about the good of the American people. She wants to vindicate her failed healthcare plan at all costs. She has her time in the White House as “co-president”. This is where she gets her number of 30 plus years experience. She counts her husbands presidency as experience. Well sure if that means experience in illegal firings, closed door policies that fail, and being embarrassed by a cheating husband who lied bold faced to the American People then YES she has experience.
She voted for the war in Iraq and then she would not admit it was an error in judgment. The thing that bothers me most about the Clintons is that they will LIE incredulously even when they are CAUGHT. Just admit the mistake and move on! If you can’t trust the leader of your country then you start to feel that you aren’t a part of the process of what should be a DEMOCRACY.
With Hillary Clinton’s plan for “mandated” healthcare that would garnish paychecks to pay for healthcare just seems too much of a DICTATORSHIP. I just don’t understand how free people could be forced into healthcare because the government says it’s for our own good. This really frightens me as another step in which we begin losing more freedoms. How else would she be willing to control us for our own good?

As for Hillary, Bill agreed to go into Kosovo in the First Place, and pacify the Afghan rebels in Afghanistan which are now causing huge problems. Those topics can be used in needed.

Right now, Hillary is getting what she deserves. God does not like ugly. Whatever underhanded things that she has planned for Barack is blowing up in her face. She is reaping right now. With regard to Edwards, he missed his boat. He had a real opportunity to show some courage and endorse soon after stepping down, but instead because the race was so close he decided to play the waiting game. But my guess is that at least one candidate maybe both see the game for what it is, and aren’t impressed. I believe his chances would have been better career wise if he would have just made the decision. I’m not sure why anyone at this point would think that his endorsement would make much difference at this point. If he endorses Obama sure its a feather in the cap but he’s already got most of a peacocks tail in there already. If he endorses Clinton he’s just plugging holes in a sinking ship. She still can’t win the delegates necessary to beat Obama without a landslide victory in both Texas and Ohio, not to mention enough to win the nomination. Superdelegates are now pouring to Obama and I would suspect that Edwards delegates will be following what their constituents did which is to also flow over into Obama’s pool.
It amounts to seriously bad timing.
For O’Reilly, I have thought about this a long while and I keep coming back to the fact that if he wouldn’t use the same language when talking about caucasians, say Bill Clinton for instance…then it has no business being said and what it really means is that his mind makes a connection to lynching and black people..i mean seriously when you get down to the plain facts, it is that his mind makes that connection and he does not have the filter to tell himself that a reference like that is extremely disrespectful, prejudice, and sends a hurtful message no matter what context it is used in. If he had made a similar comment about the Gestapo and Jewish people he would be recieving the same uproar. He is in the business of communication, if he can’t be mindful of his audience then there is a price to be paid and in this case it is the ire of the black community and anyone else who believes in diversity and equal rights.
I ask that the Lord watch over Hillary and protect her and send her straight through to the White House as President. I ask that the Lord open the eyes of our countrymen so that each and every voting person casts their votes in favor of Hillary in the White House.
I ask that the Lord show the world that Obama is an OBVIOUS reminder to Osama, an evil wrong doing never to be forgotten. I ask that the Lord rebuke Obama from the Presidential race and that Obama drops out of the race and our minds forever.

Some of His picks Noah, Moses, Joseph, David, Paul and the list goes on. . . and as I previously said, now I think He has chosen Obama for such a time as this. John Edwards should go straight to hell and take Bill Richardson with him. Both of these guys had a chance to send their supporters who are wondering which candidate to go with now a message. So what did they do? They did their prima donna impressions, holding out for who cares what at this point. They’ve marginalized themselves and should have stepped up to the plate — one way or the other — when it mattered.
Barack Obama is my choice, and today he hit one right the hell out of the park. Wayyyyyyyyy back there in the bleachers sit Edwards and Richardson, without enough bling to make noise anymore.
