The 10th Consecutive Win for Obama

Posted Jan. 20, 2008 – Sen. Barack Obama continues his winning streak, netting his 10th straight victory Tuesday in the Democratic Wisconsin primary and Hawaii state caucus. Early this morning, the results in Hawaii showed that state’s ”favorite son” won with 75 percent of the vote.
Wisconsin had 74 national convention delegates up for grabs, and Hawaii had 20. These wins will allow Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) to keep his lead of pledged delegates over Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.).
Obama went into the contest in Wisconsin and Hawaii with an estimated 1,281 delegates and Clinton with 1.218, according to Associated Press. To secure the nomination it takes 2,025 of the party’s delegates.
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) won the Republican Primary in Wisconsin, besting his only remaining rival, former Arkansa Gov. Mike Huckabee. McCain won with 56 percent of the vote, to Huckabee’s 36 percent. Rep. Ron Paul (R-Tex.) also on the ballot received five percent of the vote. To seal the Republican nomination McCain with 894 will need 1,191 delegates.
Why do you think folks are backing the junior senator Obama over the more experienced Clinton?

Great night for Obama. Yet these 13 days may be the most Pivotal in American History Politics. The Future Hangs In The Balance. Both the Right Wing GOP, and Democrats will go after Obama’s character. Race,Gender, even Age will be played heavily. THis is their best line of Defense against him. It will imperative to keep Obama’s base energize, to participate in discussion and rallys. Moreover, donate time, heart, currency, and service. As John Kennedy once said” Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country”. Its going to get nasty, yet we Must close things out in Texas. Texas can not be Hillary’s Alamo. We can not let this be a Rally cry. Look to see a lot of Bill Clinton this week. It is imperative we stay firm and emphasize not only Change, yet the Direction on the New Generation. We wish them a 100 years of success. YET THIS IS OUR TIME. Obama 08
KELIN,
while it is significant that obama has won and has gained a lot of momentum recently, i just want to point out that the race is not over. hillary has every right to be there, just like huckabee has on the gop side. just like if the roles were reversed, obama would have a right to continue running. secondly, i think it strengthens, and steels the candidates to have to run a race this long. i don’t want to make it easy for either candidate. they are, after all, running for a very tough job. i want to be sure that when the dust settles, the winner can lick her wounds and become president.
and if obama needs a congrats to help him feel better, then congratulations obama!
JOE, this is “our” time? Who is “our?”
kris,
I actually agree with you on who has the right to be here. I think that if you are willing to take the risk (possibly the negativity it reflects on your political career) to get a message to your constituents and let them know that you are there for them. I think all candidates have the right to do that. I would point out though that I think Obama must have it harder than any other president I know in history to fight for the nomination. Between Hillary herself, her husband and a former President himself, Bill, and John McCain as well…and that’s ignoring the gender divide, the racial divide, etc.
“Our” is we, the Democrats first and foremost and then anyone who wants to change the white house which would include some of those Republicans as well whom has crossed over. Anyone who tries to make the term “our” about race is over analyzing if not trying to create an environment about race that does not exist in the message.
Just think,if Hillary did not go negative with her thinking that she has 35 years of experience versus Obama being all talk she would not be in her predicament.Hillary saying she has 35 years of experience is misleading in of itself;what she really means is that she is married to a man with that much experience.Aside from being first lady of Ark. and the Whitehouse the only official capacity she has served in is Sen. from New York, her claim is transparent at beast and down right mis-leading.
Hillary also displays no class by virtue the fact
she will not commend Sen.Obama on his victories. That clearly shows she thinks she shouild be annointed the Dem. nominee and to her
dismay she keeps losing.
Kris-
Yes Hill has a right to be there and so does Huck…Now Huck just as Hill mathmetically cannot get enough pledged delegates to surpass Obama…ZERO chance….that is a FACT. She can close the gap BUT with victories in Ohio and TX having to be in the 30-40pt range, it seems EXTREMELY unlikely. EXTREMELY! Working the supe delegates is her only option and I have been hearing the Clintons are now working Baracks pledged delegates….
As I stated before…the Clintons are all about power. Having her stay in the race, is not making Barack a better candidate but making her look worse and desparate and phony! She speaks as if she hasn’t LOSS 10 in a ROW…..
That, coming from a lady who stated “By Feb. 5th this race would be done and the focus would be the general election”
Is everybody celebrating so much that we have not had time to really think. This is not about barack becoming the nominee, it is about him becoming the president. Which now I don’t think will really happen, after all the messes, I really hoped he would lose this year because it would be best for him.
As the nominee, he will inherit a vastly divided democratic party, where there are a lot of people (ladies and hispanics) who will not vote for him because they feel he robbed Hillary of her time.(don’t forget they are calling her the first latina president) Becuase of the rules – he has Florida and Michigan who thinks he wanted to cheat them so many of those dem voters will stay home as well and though he has a lot of victories, he did lose a lot of the big states (NY is Hillary country and they may not support him, and his showing in California against hillary was very weak and there are not enough of us in the south to stop the republicans from getting most of those states) I think unfortunately when he wins he going to lose because he won’t have the enough support of the people in the party to win. And we have to remember just as much as many of us have strong feelings against hillary, many of her supporters feel the same way about Barack – and I am not sure he will be able to reach enough of them and we will be stuck with John McCain and because he was a failed Democratic Nominee. he won’t get another shot at the presidency.

Just how would it be best if he lost the nomination and how would it be best for himif he didn’t win? When Sen.Obama first came on the campaign scene I didn’t take his run seriously because of a number of factors, but He proved himself along with whitemen in particular comming on board.Another Question is:If not now then when?
This is about a nominating process not the election of a President, well at least not yet.
It is the Republicans who are devided,i’ll be willing too bet that whoever is the Democratic nominee will win because the GOP means nothing but more of the same and it is time for a comlete CHANGE !!!
Jfff,
I live in the south, the republicans are not as divided as we think. And let me tell you there are a lot of whites who are undercover about their hate for Obama (due to name, color, background) they hate him as much as they hate hillary and though they won’t say it in polls because it is not PC, the hate is real. Obama is doing well with democratic white people but this year the democratic party is way too divided to make either Hillary or he the president – there are too many bad feelings on either side – that is not what you need to win an election. We will need the full force of the party to win. Hillary would lose to McCain also because we are very divided but it would have been better for her to go up and lose and then I know everyone could have gotten behind Barack in 4 years then now sending Barack to be slaughtered and miss his and our best chance to have a president.
i think it does make obama a better candidate. if he were president, he would get 50 times the attacks on policy and in personal matters. life ain’t so rosy in the white house.
hillary may not catch up, but i think by her staying in the race, she may very well deny obama the 2000 or so delegates he needs to clinch the nomination. then you have a situation where an arrangement has to be made at the dnc, and this is where they run on the same ticket. which i think would be great.
i agree that obama will have a tough time were he to make it to the general election. i know lots of hillary supporters who would not vote for obama. i won’t say i will not, but let’s just say i’ve reconsidered the other candidate more than ever before.
Andre
From what i have been reading and hearing is that the consevative republicans are not impressed with McCain (Coultier,Hannity,Limbaugh), which means that if he is nominated many republicans will stay at home when he gets the nomination. On the other hand if Hillary is nominated it will galvinize republicans too vote for McCain because they hate Hillary even more.
You are correct in saying that there are many White folk who will not admit that they will not vote for Obama because of his race (mixed).Which begs the question:how did he get the white men vote in Georgia ? On the other hand most demoocrats will vote for whoever the democratic nomonee is just too get the republicans out of the whitehouse.
Congratulations to Senator Obama. Two steps closer to the Presidency. Now we have to step up our support and know the issues so that we can shut down the naysayers and the negative people with facts.
Hillary is getting backed into a corner and she will come out with every dirty tactic, with every negative attack ad and with all the divisive rhetoric she can find. So it’s time to be strong and stay resolved.
Obama has the ability to start this campaign as a little known senator and bring the country to an outstanding agreement that we need CHANGE. We need new voices and new faces in Washington. He has been able to do this by going to the people and meeting with the people and generating support. If he can do this in an election imagine what he can do as president. He can bring our nation together for the better good and he can bring us back to being one of the most respected super powers.
With Hillary Clinton we have an ex “co-president” as she called herself who supported NAFTA and failed at her first attempt for healthcare reform. I can’t help but feel when she talks about socializing healthcare it feels a bit like a dictatorship with the government telling me what’s best for me and not giving me an option to participate. Her healthcare scares me because it’s mandated. the word “MANDATED” seems contrary to a democracy and contrary to my rights as a free citizen who can make up her own mind!
On another note why does she look like a bobble head when she is speaking at her rally’s. She says something and then shakes her head in agreement with herself…that just makes me laugh. It’s like she doesn’t even believe what she is saying so she nods her head for reinforcement.

Sen. Obama is further away than “two steps” to the Presidency.there are more primaries and we still don’t know how the super delegates will vote, the convention is in August and alot can happen in the meantime.
two steps closer meant TWO MORE PRIMARIES.
AS IN 10 PRIMARIES IN A ROW!
There is still alot of work to do but there is also something called “the will of the American People” and Hillary Clinton should stop shouting long enough to really listen to the people.
The People are speaking or do you think it’s just a coincidence. Political pundits will try to knock him down. Hillary Clinton will sling the mud, John McCain will try to pick apart his wife…but WE THE PEOPLE know that we are tired of Politics as usual!
Andre-
Not sure if you noticed in most states where there were Dem and Rep primaries, Barack doubled and then some the #of votes combined for Huck and McCan’t……the enthusiam for his Presidency far exceeds any of republican’ts
Well here we go….the Clintons in the effort to steal this nomination…..Changing the rules while the game is going on and you are losing…
http://www.delegatehub.com
THESE people will stop at nothing in an effort to get power……they moving from annoying, to people we dislike, to people we hate….I know I am not alone….
McCain…may want to chill out on the wife attacks….unless we forget…his boy…George W. attack his wife and her stealing money/drug scandal and McCan’t got upset…..I think this Michelle thing will go away, cause it is much to do about nothing….
Hillary has never been President of the USA, neither has Obama. Very few presidents went back for a second term to led our country. I feel that Obama’s has just as much experience as Hillary. I think when a person becomes president he goes in to led and learn. Just like a job. Train on the job.
I don’t trust the Clintons all. Why should America want to put people back into the White House that disgraced the office of President. In additon, the Clinton administration did not do enough to combat the pre-9/11 attacks such as the Cole bombings, the bombings in Nigeria, and all the other terrorist attacks during the Clinton administration. If they are re-elected the terrorists will have a field day. What baffles, me is why do some of our fellow African American’s act as if Bill Clinton is the next Jesus. Upon close examination he hasn’t done a whole lot for black people. Administration wise, if you compare the Clinton and Bush Administration, black people and minority people occupy more high ranking positions in both of the Bush Administrations. During President Bush’s two terms, he has had two black people occupy the highest positions. The Clinton’s certainly didn’t have black people occupying major positions. Black people that are supporting the Clinton’s need to wake up. Hilary right now is trying to divide our country, divide the black people and hispanics, the white and the black. As a result we are going to be left with a divided country. We need to support Obama. We are living exciting times, America is on the verge of electing the first black president, and having a black first lady. Why in the world would some of our own don’t want to see that come to pass. Do they honestly think Hilary Clinton would vote for a black man to be president. I think not. Right now the Clinton’s are hating on Obama. They already had their chance in the White house. We don’t need to bring anymore disgrace to the White House. Barack is just as qualified to be President. Being a first lady doesn’t qualify her as President. We need to continue to focus on achieving Dr. Kings dream and making him proud by electing Obama.
congrats to obama. but i think someone mentioned on here that he will never win the nomination because we are too divided. i have been really turned off by the clintons to the point where if she were the nominee, i’d definitely want ralph nader. but i really had to think.do we want mccain in there as another bush, or settle for a mediocre president who will say/do anything to win and won’t change much.. i think that hillary has every right to run as do obama, but i think that as kelin mentioned, if the shoe was on the other foot, obama would have been asked to leave after super tuesday. hillary is a fighter and we all have been taught that we must fight for the things that we want and i agree. but at some point, she must put the interests of the nation and her constituents above her own. in other words, she should check her ego at the door. must of us really want the clintons to go away. they’ve had their chance and now it’s time to turn the pge on history.
Over 40 years of Democratic Party support..has given blacks a 70% out of wedlock birthrate..the highest rate of abortions in the country..in some inner cities – a 50% high school drop out rate..and has given us second class status to Hispanics as the most populous minority group. What else would Barack have the Democratic Party to do for black America? Looks like they’ve done ENOUGH HARM already! Vote Republican in the fall – black America can’t afford more Democratic help!!
