Cordial Showdown in Texas

Posted Feb. 21, 2008 – The two Democratic presidential candidates have made it through the first half of the debate tonight with polite banter and stately respect.  Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) appears confident and comfortable, and has offered a few light moments of humor.

The two candidates appear to be agreeing on most policy issues, so folks will have to decide who says it best.

The first “boos” of the night came for Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) when she once again accused Obama of plagiarism during a recent speech in Wisconsin.  Obama called this attack the “silly season in politics.”

I think Sen. Obama did a great job during the debate with staying on track and putting his plans and policies out there for prople who continue to say he has no agenda. I think this was the first debate were he came forward as the true leader. Sen. Clintons game plan was the same as usual. Instead of Sen. Clinton being worried about Sen. Obama stealing someone elses lines she may want to invest some money in better writers so her speechs wont be so boring and redundent.

Oddly enough the close of Hillarys concession speech tonite was a combo of John Edwards and Bill Clintons words….nevertheless…Hill see’s the writing on the wall and she is done. She knows, bill knows it, and hopefully Hillary supporter Kris knows it too. I expect Hillary in the next week or so to bow out before Texas. Polls are showing Barack and her in a tie at this point and she needs to win by 30-40 points. It isn’t going to happen and the in my voting lifetime a Bush or Clinton will NOT be on the ballot…..

ummm ahhh Kris and Morgan we all eagerly await your debate comments…make sure you include the boos, the scripted xerox line, the passionate I am done ending speech, and the constant ignoring the questions by Hill….

yes we all await your comments….

PEOPLE DO NOT let Bill O’Reilly off the hook about these comments of Lynching………contact the station, Rev. Al at the National Action Network…if they can stick up for Tiger they can do so for Our first lady.

Also…the McCan’t supports…Barack right now is not your biggest worry…lobbyist is a bigger concern 4u….

saw the debate last night. they both did a good job, but hillary did contradict herself with the xerox comment only to have used the same line at the end of the debate from edwards back in dec/07. very few of us have caught that. also, they really haven’t said anything that we haven’t heard before, she really should be going after people’s votes and not doing these debates. WE KNOW THAT YOU KNOW YOUR STUFF!!!! the problem is that there’s a lot of us that still won’t vote for you. to all the obama haters…does this debate answer the substance question?

since i am the ONLY one, as far as i can tell, on any of these blogs that likes to think rationally, i will tell it like it is.

first, i thought both did a good job. nothing really new, and i don’t see the need for any more of these “debates”. i use quotes because it’s not really. it’s “you talk, then i talk, the campbell changes the subject because we have to go to a commercial”. if the next one could just be them going at each other without restraints, then i see the need for another one.

second. the negatives. obama, like in most of the debates, is not as articulate and eloquent when he doesn’t have a prepared speech. now, the content was fine, but the delivery left a little something to be desired, and i think was distracting at times.

HILLARY, i admit, used the cheesy xerox line. i think she shouldn’t have used that. mostly because it was cheesy. if she had a better one to make fun of his empty campaign promises, then it would’ve been okay to use.

Good Debate. I think she sounds like she is beginning to concede. Obama was strong and had the detail that everyone was looking for. His comments on Healthcare were excellent and I love that he stepped up the difference between them and also that he brought up about her failed healthcare because it was done behind closed doors. That was excellent!

Her Xerox comment was awful and left me feeling embarrassed for her. That’s no way for a presidential hopeful to behave.

I also loved the way Obama sat straight up and looked her in the eye when he spoke about there differences. And I also loved that I realized he is a lefty just like me! I would love to know what he wrote on that notepad!

If you are interested in reading about Hillary’s spendthrift campaign read this link and if she can’t budget her campaign how can she budget a country.

the debate was great and both candidates did well … obama has evolved since the iowa primary in that he looked very presidential last night … since the 60’s i have been blessed to see this country go thru several major lifestyle & political metamorphoses from segregation to integration, from monogamy to different sexual relationships, from black or white relationships to multi-cultural relationships … the point i’m making is that the “obama phenomenon” is an idea whose time has come and IT WILL HAPPEN … there are many whites who have been waiting for the right black president so that they can began to move pass their ancestor’s 450 years of a slavery mentality and white-supremist/imperialist practices … barack obama is that solution in the flesh at this point & time in this country’s history … he is that idea time has come at the right time in the right place … the fringe benefits are that the man is actually capable of cleaning up this mess from president bush, and that he will be even-handed in fulfilling the needs of blacks, whites, latinos/hispanics, & arabs … God is good … He may not make it happen when we want it – but He’s always on time!

I have recently thought about something. When Obama becomes president, it will be extremely difficult for any black person to claim charges of discrimination in the work place. It will also make it easier for the corporate racists to mask themselves with “there is no racism going on here – after all we have a black president”. Just food for thought.

OBAMA IS NOT ready to be president. He can talk about it all he wants but he can’t handle the job. HILLARY ALL THE WAY! She did best in all the debates and will be the best president.
